Hey @Jaime_Lamb , thanks for providing all these details! It seems you took the right steps during the transition.
As a temporary solution, you can also try the following steps (example for the components here):
-
Try running the “Regenerate all instances” command in the affected file (you’ll find it in the Quick Actions search bar). Check if the components render correctly afterward.
-
If that doesn’t help, a temporary solution is to push a small update to the main component:
-
Open the main component and make a minor edit—like adding a stroke or slightly adjusting font weight (something easy to revert).
-
Publish the changes.
-
In the affected file, accept the library update and try inserting the component again to see if the issue is resolved.
-
Finally, undo the test change in the main component and republish.
This method can help “reset” broken instances across files.
If the issue persists after these steps, I’d recommend to reach out directly to our support team for further investigation. Please submit a bug report with:
Our support team will take a closer look, thank you!
Thanks for the quick response, Celine.
- Running the “Regenerate all instances (slow)” command has no effect on either the current page or the overall file. Selecting a component and invoking the Go to main component action results in a toast with the message: “You don’t have access to this file.”
- I tried to share the file with support-share@figma.com and got the following error message: “Sharing with external users is disabled.” This makes sense since we’re in Figma’s government (figma-gov.com) environment.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks for trying those steps! I checked internally, and the team confirmed that the behavior you're seeing is expected.
To provide more context — when moving from Commercial to Government accounts, there isn’t currently a seamless way to transfer resources like there is between regular accounts. Government users need to manually copy their content and import it into the new workspace.
Unfortunately, this process doesn’t retain component or variable connections from the original file, so those links need to be rebuilt manually.
I’ve passed your feedback along to the team for consideration in future improvements. Thank you for your understanding!
