Switch to the old Figma UI

Hey guys, Is there a way to switch back to the old Figma UI? The new one doesn’t do it for me. I’m sure there are people who like it, but personally, I prefer the previous Figma look and structure. I really dislike the current look and feel of the new UI, not to mention its structture, the previous version was a lot more organized and a lot cleaner and more intuitive. Thanks, Chris

Cannot Publish Components in Figma Slides

I received this alert for the first time today since working in Slides. It will no longer allow me to publish templates with components included on my slides. See the screenshot of the error. I don’t know if this is a glitch, but yikes! This is not good. Is anyone else having this error?

Question Regarding - Export as Video

I am trying to export an artboard with a video and I don't see the 'Export as Video' option. I have placed a video on the artboard and enabled the 'Playing' setting in the Prototype tab. Could you please advise on how to export this as a video file?

Access to Figma Make and Figma Websites

Hello my team is on a professional plan, it is possible to access to the new features releases at Config2025? I’m able to see AI -generate an image and such, Figma Draw, Figma Grid, however I’m not sure how I access Make, Website and Buzz as I understand until those are out of beta they will be available for full seat members, thank you.

My file/Design was randomly removed and I am not sure where it went.

My file was randomly removed from figma. What is gthe best way to locate it and/or restore it into my files? This cost me an my team a decent amount of money and I would have to have lost it forever. PLEASE HELP!

Figma Draw - Variable width stroke

I cant seem to find the option of "variable width strokes" in Figma draw. I created a stroke and went in the vector edit mode, I see all option except the “variable width stroke”. Did anyone else try using this?

Mobile Prototyping "Fit" scaling does not work

I’d really appreciate some help here, can’t get mobile prototyping to work in the way I’d expect. I am prototyping an app with a bottom anchored toolbar. As such, “Fit” type settings are critical to avoid users from missing these buttons. However, any combination of settings I try in prototyping (Fit, fill, presentation, different preset phone frames) do not actually fit my prototype within phones of varying sizes. Here’s an image of what I’d expect would happen. I’d expect a fixed ratio and I’d get black bars on the sides. This is pretty much how desktop prototypes show - they work on any screen size because the frame is fixed and fits to any window size, with black bars added as needed. Any help is really appreciated here. I don’t get how mobile prototypes could not support “Fit” in the way I’m describing, as that’d make testing anything with bottom-anchored toolbars/buttons much more unreliable based on phone size. Thanks for any input!

What’s the way to add an effect (Drop shadow, background blur, etc) on an interaction (While hovering, On Click, etc)?My goal is to reduce the inane amount of variants I have to create to simply to have a hover color or shadow. 😓

How do you make historical billing data actually readable in UI?

I was checking out this site for something unrelated — just doing a quick fesco 2024 bill check — and it got me thinking: why do so many billing history pages feel like spreadsheets from 2004?There’s a ton of opportunity to clean up how historical utility data is displayed. Stuff like monthly charges, payment status, due dates — it’s all super useful, but the design is usually overwhelming or just plain dated.Has anyone here worked on visualizing that kind of timeline-based data? I'd love to see how others are approaching it — especially for mobile, where scrolling endless tables is a nightmare.Appreciate any insights or examples!

Figma Slides - Add button(s) to jump between slides?

I know Slides has been around for about 5 minutes, but I can’t figure this out. Is it possible to add button interactivity to Figma Slides - like having a ‘overview’ slide with links to individual slides later in the presentation? Right now, it seems to only support linear progression. Basically, I’m looking for way to add a “jump to this section” button that skips around the presentation.

Anyone prototyping video editing UI in Figma for mobile apps?

Hi everyone,I'm working on a prototype for a mobile video editing tool and trying to simulate real editing flows (trimming, transitions, filters) in Figma. So far, auto-animate and some interactive components are helping, but syncing complex interactions like filter overlays and multi-track timelines is tricky.I’m also referencing tools like the (capcut-style editor from capcapk). Considering a switch from PowerPoint - Is Figma right for me?

Hi everyone – I’m in a finance-focused role where I spend a lot of time building decks. Like, 90% of my job is making PowerPoint presentations. And honestly… I’m tired. PowerPoint just feels slow and clunky, especially when you’re making small visual adjustments over and over.I’m seriously considering switching to Figma to speed up my workflow and make things more enjoyable. But I’ve hit a few snags that I’m hoping you all can help with: Company Template: We have a corporate PowerPoint template that includes a branded background and logo placement. In PPT, I just start with the template file. How would I recreate that in Figma so that every new slide starts clean with our design? Excel Charts & Graphs: One major thing keeping me in PPT is the ability to copy/paste charts straight from Excel. It keeps all formatting and is easy to update. Has anyone figured out a good workflow for bringing charts into Figma—either as editable visuals or quick screenshots that look good? Tables i

Anyone using desktop sandbox tools to simulate UI launch environments?

I’ve been building out some interactive prototypes in Figma and working with a team that uses a sandboxed environment for launching and testing desktop app behavior. We're trying to ensure that the UI flow feels native even in isolated test environments where system hooks are limited.One tool that's come up in our workflow is the bloxstrap launcher, which helps manage these kinds of setups. Can you swap variable values inside a collection through the plugin API

I have a collection of 300+ variables and I need to connect the base values inside to another library, it seems that only the variable Id is exposed and not static, so I’m struggling to find how to do it. Ideal behaviourLoop through all variables in a collection Get the id of the value in that variable Match to a map with a replacement Swap the variable value with the new one

Creating a paid plugins

Hi, From the doc, i understood that submitting a paid plugin that makes use of Figma in-house paid system is only available to accepted publisher, and that Figma is currently not accepting any new publisher, is that correct ? so the only way to make a paid plugin would be to do the payment via a 3rd party ? And if so, is it required to provide any specific information during publication, or just submit it under the Community Free Resource License ? Thanks in advance.

Can't allow viewers to copy

Hi, Today I noticed that viewers were unable to copy from some files. However, when I toggle the checkbox, Figma doesn’t save the change. After a while, it reverts to untoggled. Some of my files belong to a published library and do not have an owner.

Modify shortcut for Ctrl + Q

Hi!I keep pressing Ctrl + Q instead of Ctrl + A, and it ends up quitting the entire desktop app (on Windows). I looked into the keyboard shortcut customization interface but I could’t find this shortcut listed. Is it possible to remap or disable this Quit shortcut in the desktop app ?    Thanks!

getMainComponentAsync stops execution

Hi,I am looking into some docs to create a plugin … I would like to make another “Copy as” feature to match our component development platform. I took the tutorials (orange rectangle party), added webpack bundling and started exploring the API.When using getMainComponentAsync from one of the nodes it goes wrong, the function returns nothing, I get no exceptions and execution just stops.It’s weird ‘cause I can do this from the console in figma but not from my plugin, any suggestions?Is a plugin the right way to achieve what I want ? Oh, I have dynamic-page set … otherwise the asyncs wont work ;-) TxY.

One frame (with colour variables) from a Figma file to another Figma file problem

We have 4-5 Figma files with different colours styles (because the maximum groups of colour variables can be just 4 in a Figma file). We whitelabel our site, thats why we have plenty of groups of colour variables.So we have 4-5 Figma files with different groups of colour variables. For one of our customers we did a unique screen design for a unique service (we created another Figma file for them, because they have unique colour combos as well). Now we would like if this feature would be in our general template as well, but when I copy the screen design (frame), it brings the original colour variables, that won’t be a big problem if I would be able to change that to the ones where I pasted it. But I can’t!!!
