Hello, a colleague left the organization, and one of our teams has no owner now. As an organization admin, I can use the team files and such, but there is no ownership transfer or claim options showing as suggested here: Claim ownership of a project – Figma Learn - Help Center My question is, do I need to claim ownership as an admin? Is there any value or restrictions because of a lack of ownership for a team? If I need to claim ownership, how to do it since I cannot with the suggested support article.

Hi there, I’m building a UI kit and I recently had a whole collection of 100s of component-level variables (color, spacing etc) deleted by Figma and I had to revert to an old file (file 1). Before I did that, I made a copy of my current file (file 2) to preserve recent component updates. After I restored file 1 with the component variable collection in it, I copied the more up to date components from file 2 into file 1. The issue now is that all the variables (and there are a lot of them) in file 1 are referencing file 2. It’s extremely laborious to manually switch the references for every component token. Is there a plugin that could do the job for me? I tried the swap feature of the Variables Pro plugin, but that didn’t seem to do much. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Hamish

hi, beginner Figma user here. I’m having trouble with presenting my prototype. I have three frames in 1 component set. when i click present, it says ‘a prototype needs at least 1 frame’ when i add a frame, and present it, the frame inside the component don’t show up. instead the frame that i added shows up and covers the entire thing. and when i put the frame behind the component (its size is just enough to fit the 1st frame in the component), it shows up but i can’t skip to the next frame in the component. also when i put the 1st frame from the component in the frame that i added, i can’t use the “Change to” interaction anymore (which was the reason i turned it into a component set.) please help thank you

How to successfully export arcs, semi-circles and rings as SVGs. Currently, these curve coordinates are converted to paths, making the exports large in file size and difficult for any developer to manipulate coordinates in terms of animations, hover states etc. Any ideas, plug-ins?

In all the design files, there are three default libraries in curated libraries. I don’t need them, but I can’t find anywhere to completely delete them. Does anyone know?

I’ve run into an issue where I need the billing name to be different from my user name in Figma. This is important for managing billing details accurately and avoiding confusion. Has anyone else faced this issue? Is there a way to set a separate billing name that appears on invoices while keeping the project name for internal use? Hey! I’m trying to replace the text of a page title in a Figma prototype based on the link that takes you to the page. When I change the variable text used in English text boxes everything works fine, but when I change text in Cherokee syllabary it says “Some missing fonts were replaced”, even though the text block that is linked to that variable is set to Noto Sans Cherokee. Strangest of all, it works fine in the viewer in my local Figma application (linux) but not on the web. The static text using Noto Sans Cherokee shows up fine but it doesn’t work on the web when set via variable. Thanks for any insight anyone might have! Geoff

I have a video of a 3D scene and each frame of the video “rotates” the 3D scene. I would like to have this video in a Figma prototype to simulate a user dragging their cursor on the video and it simulates the act of “dragging”/rotating the 3D model Basically on drag the video would play one frame at a time, but on drag isn’t an option for prototyping a video. Does anyone know what I could do?

Im a beginner in Figma and watched some videos on how to do a loading animation. I did exactly what the videos said but everytime i tested the animation wouldnt work and just stayed still. I agree this is possible to have different values on different modes. I mean technically it works. I have two collections primitive colors and semantic colors which refers to the former. There are some scenarios where I want to have white in Light Mode which can have different colors based on context. For example, card background can be white in Light, Dark mode will obviously have shade of black in primitive, but I want a different color for card background alone in Dark mode. I can change the color in the dark mode in the semantic collection but it doesn’t seem to work though. Ideas and help appreciated.

Hello, guys. Recently, one of my fellow developers came across an issue: he has the “viewer” mode in Figma for all the files in the project team, and, we he tries to inspect an element, unfortunately the color is outdated. It shows, for example “Red v1” instead of “Red v2”. On one hand, the color used to be “Red v1”, but now it is “Red v2”. I’ve tried Updating the library for all the files Following this guide. This is the issue I’m facing right now. Also, as an alternative option, is there a way of restricting the developer to have access to the dev mode, but can’t edit the Figma elements? The developer only wants to use the Dev Mode, and I don’t want them to eventually mess with the file (so someday I can see a change in an element, but can’t figure out who made that, even with the history - because it takes time)

Is there any way to restore the Enter key behavior within comments? Before: Enter key would add a new line while typing comments Now: Enter sends the comment (requires Cmd+Enter to add new line) It is extremely annoying that it ends up sending the comments before I’m done writing them. This is an issue that happens regularly: I type “@” and the name of the person(s) I want to mention then I press Enter to start the actual comment but then It already sends the comment with just the mentions the people I mentioned receive an email notification with empty comment I have received emails with just my name (exactly like in step 4 above), so it’s not only me who’s having this issue. Please help me.

On the side, I’m an advisor for the arts, media, and communications board for my county’s public school system. We meet a couple times a year to discuss what’s happening in the industry so they can adjust their high school student’s curriculum to match. Since the beginning, I’ve noticed how far behind these curriculums are as they’re still being focused on print and anything product-related is minimal/done with inefficient technology (e.g. piecing together websites in Wix with Canvas after designing in Illustrator). After being in this for a couple years, I finally realized a lot of it’s because they rely heavily on certifications that students can earn to show colleges and intern employers they know their stuff. Adobe has this down pat, which is why it’s heavily taught, even though it’s expensive for the schools. Hoping for support troubleshooting this, or confirming if it’s a platform limitation I should submit the fix for as an ‘idea to share’ instead… I have a simple prototype that has a home screen with a looping video background and 3 buttons that each open an overlay (when closed, they return to the underlaying home screen). This works as expected when viewing the prototype in Figma, but the video doesn’t play when using the Embed Link of the prototype. Here’s what I’ve tried so far… Add the background video using Figma’s documentation for adding videos to prototypes. In the prototype settings, set the video to loop and toggled off the sound setting. Tested the prototype in Figma and everything worked as expected. Used Figma’s Embed documentation to use the Share toolbar to grab embed code. Created a Notion page, selected the embed option, and pasted in the embed code. Prototype loaded as expected with full functionality, but without the video playback. Tried Notion’s Figma integration t

I installed a font on my Mac and it loaded into Figma but registered as 4 different fonts based on styles of the font (e.g. book, medium, bold, black). So I went into FontBook on my Mac and reinstalled a different version of the font. It loaded perfectly into other programs but Figma still displays it as four separate fonts and they aren’t even the complete set so it isn’t usable as is. What can I do about this? Is there any way to delete the current reference or force Figma to re-register the font? Things I have tried: reloading, web vs. desktop app, deleting the app and reinstalling.

I have a standard situation when I move my color library to Variables. So I have basic colors, like Gray 0-9, Blue 0-9, etc. I created a token for Border, which is linked to Gray 5. But I can’t see it from inspection, or any other place, because it shows me a HEX color! Is there a way to check it?

Hello everyone! I have a question regarding Figma prototypes. In the past, I have created prototypes to view on a monitor and to share with others. I know that Figma has been updated, but I am unsure if a prototype will work directly on an iPad or a touchscreen (not an iPhone). (No Mirroring) This would be specifically created as a demo at events, and currently. I have tried searching for this information online, but it’s proving to be difficult. Thank you for your help!

Hello! Consider I have pages (slides of a presentation) organized using auto-layout. What I want is to add numbering both to the frame name and the textboxes inside the frame (for page number display). Is there a way to do so? Speaking from the programmers standpoint this should be trivial to do.

Hello, I just graduated and soon, my school will delete my educational email. In my current account, I have all of the projects I worked on for the last 5 years. I would like to keep them, as I might need them in the future, in order to show them for employment, portfolios, etc. All of us, graduating students from my school, learned that information last week and we have no idea what to do about it. I tried to change the email on my account but it’s not editable. I tried to contact the Figma support, but they replied to me saying I only have a Starter account, so I can only receive support from community… I’d really appreciate some help on that matter, I just want to keep all of the projects I worked on for the last 5 years. I am drawing connectors from multiple sources to one destination. In some cases the connectors align well and merge with each other to form one single line, whereas in this case the lines are not merging together. Either it goes up or down. Please refer to the screenshot below. I want to merge/overlap these two lines so that appear as one. Thanks for your help in advance.
