Hi there, I’m sure this comes up a lot but I wondered what the best way of highlighting one item in a list of items is on click? I know I can change component variant on click but this won’t change the others back. Here’s what I need: List of Items - Default Not Highlighted Click on item - Highlight Item Click on different item - Highlight this item but UNHIGHLIGHT other item What is the best way of doing this? This is the only way I can do it at present which is laborious and requires a new component for every version of the list. Seems like an inefficient way to do it! Thanks Jen
I have developed a token-based authentication system. Utilizing a REST API, I’ve implemented PHP code to execute operations based on a file ID. When the code is executed, it returns data indicating the role of the requester in the project file. If someone other than the owner runs the code, it provides information about their role in the project file, correct? but its giving his role also the owner, is this because of i created the token?
I created draft and placed there my Ui-kit and I need to reuse it for my 3 other projects is there any advises?)
Does anyone know how to turn off the layout grid in Figma slides? This is what my screen looks like, and the layout grid keeps showing. Thanks in advance!
I’m not able to select other languages than “dutch” in my spell check. I want to add English. Can help me solve this problem? Details: Windows 10 Using Figma browser application OS language is in English Figma UI is in English Image of my current view:
Auto-Layout is acting weird, and has some bugs
Hi, I am designing a button for the user to go back to the top of the page layout. The button is fixed during the scroll and when the user hover over it it grows to show a text. The problem is that when doing the hover behavior it makes a strange behavior and I don’t know what can be the problem: Figma – 20 Sep 24
I’m kinda new to Figma and i don’t know what it means to have the variable strikethrough. It’s working but it’s strikethrough. Why and how do i fix it?
I am managing the button color and size values by creating them as components. After changing the color value of the button, if you change the size from l → m, an unknown color value appears. Is this a bug? What did I do wrong? The sky blue color is not found anywhere in our design system.I am managing the button color and size values by creating them as components. I’m building a presentation using Figma (regular Figma, not Figma Slides) and I need to export it as a PDF. The problem is I have some intricate fills in many of the frames I use as slides, for example, a background image + radial gradient + linear gradient + overlay low opacity noise image, and things like that. Some stakeholders see glitchy backgrounds on some slides when I export the pdf. I thought I would rasterize the fills of the frames, so instead of a bunch of stacked pictures and gradients they’re simple images, but doing so also rasterizes the content of the frame (i.e., all the text and other elements included on the “slide” frame). The workaround I’m using is creating a new frame for the slide, and manually separating the contents from the original slide frame, but it’s quite a tedious task. Does anyone have another possible solution for this? Maybe I could also post this in “Share an idea”? Thanks, Marc
noob here, site on different resoloution displays and different aspect ratios how does it fit ? Please answer to noob with simple words 🙂
Hi! How to make a similar animation in Figma, as in the video? https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/video/25851684?key=59037b98d547516fa4c14acc0d07f642 I mean to make the words appear when you scroll the mouse wheel down. The background video does not move until the list ends

One of the worst thing you have done is hiding create component inside, it very irritating to finding all the times with multiple clicks , if possible please make it upfront so we can use it easily , because it is most used thing in Figma 😤 😫
Hello everyone, I’m developing a Figma plugin using the create-figma-plugin toolkit by Yuanqing. I’m encountering two problem Whenever I modify the UI of my plugin—such as changing fonts, colors, or other styles—the changes do not reflect when I run the plugin in Figma.I’ve tried rebuilding the plugin after making changes, but the UI remains the same. Error When Running npm run watch When I execute npm run watch, I receive the following error message: node_modules/typescript/lib/lib.dom.d.ts:16669:13 - error TS2451: Cannot redeclare block-scoped variable ‘console’. 16669 declare var console: Console; ~~~~~~~ node_modules/@figma/plugin-typings/index.d.ts:11:9 11 const console: Console ~~~~~~~ ‘console’ was also declared here. Found 2 errors. Watching for file changes. This error seems to be related to TypeScript typings conflicting with Figma's plugin typings. Additionally, when I install `@create-figma-plugin/ui` or `@create-figma-plugin/utilities` separately, I encounter di
Understand the intention to free up some space. But please don’t put it at the bottom since: that’s not where designer used to find the tool bar in all the other design tools when presenting Figma screen through other tools like google meet, the Toolbar is not accessible at all Please either put it back to the top taking up just a row, or make the location of toolbar customised
I’ve created a main component which is a select (aka “dropdown”) menu. This component will then have instances nested within a table. My variables and conditional logic work for the main component, but when I start using nested instances in my design, when in prototype mode selecting one option from my select menu, it will change all of the nested instances of the component. Which makes sense as it’s changing to the variables via the logic that I have defined. My question: Is there a way (using conditionals/variables) for the nested instances to not affect the other nested instances? And without having to have a unique variable for each of the nested instances. My logic was based off of this example
Hello, In our team, we have designers and developers. Designers should be able to edit files and developers needs to view the dev mode only. But when i give Full Designer seat to developers for them to access dev mode, they can also edit files. Which is against the whole logic. That’s not makes sense at all. I don’t want my developers to accidently change my design files. Which is very easy to do so. Risky. Is there any way to set these seats “read-only” and make them access dev-mode only? Thanks a lot,
I uninstalled and installed Figma, but I still have the old version?
In my journey to stay more organized, I’ve found it beneficial to start setting my Component variant groups to Auto-Layout. Keeps things nice and orderly in my design file. I’m wondering if Figma could get away with automatically applying auto-layout settings to component groupings. That way we don’t have to click within each grouping and add the Gap + Horizontal/Vertical Padding.
My main design library references variables for light/dark. The new file is multi-theme but only uses light from the original library. We do not use those same dark variables but they are coming through into the component playground off the original library components. Is it possible to block the dark variables from passing through?
Does anyone have a solid enterprise level design to dev handoff process? Figma charging for dev mode is making it impossible for me to get buy-in for dev mode seats just so I can annotate and let devs check spacing.
trying to create a vertical slider with drag animation encountered several problems: the animation works only one way. seems to be triggered only by horizontal drag. It also seems like it’s triggered only by a starting point and end point and doesn’t feel intuitive and control-able as I drag.
Having the vertical ruler on the leading edge of the layer panel makes it more difficult to parse and is comparatively less user friendly than the previous UI. Dragging guides under the panel feels bad.
I understand that an organisation plan allows you to upload a shared font. That has been made clear via support forums, what’s unclear is do editors need an organisation seat also to use shared fonts or can they be just a professional seat? For instance I have an organisation seat, but my colleague has every feature he needs within just a professional seat, will the project or file I share with them bring across that organisation shared font, and will they still be able to make edits using that font? Also I’m assuming that external viewers with a link would see the shared font as well? This is one of a few pivotal decisions in which my organisation would make the switch to Figma so needs clarifying.
