I’ve recently been brought back by a company I did work for before and was given access again to the old files to edit them, when I look at the team list I see myself listed as “can edit,” however whenever I actually open any of the files it has the “Edit File” button on the bottom bar and it’s telling me to request access. What makes it even stranger is I see an admin listed for requesting edit access that is no longer with the company and they don’t actually show up on the full team list of active members, it’s almost like the file itself is pulling from an old team list. What is going on with this?

How can I make a container/button open and expand from the top left? I can’t seem to find an example, but basically, if you look at a button, I’d want to be able to click that button and have it turn into a bigger container that takes up the entire width of the page and open from the top left. Help!

Hi everyone, I am currently evaluating whether the professional plan on Figma is suitable for my needs. Currently, another designer and I use the same account to create and edit projects on Figma. My question is, if I choose the professional plan, by paying only $15.00, can I still share the same account with another person? That way, both of us could use the professional features. Hi! With the new Figma update I can’t find these three icons (screenshot) for the text box, does someone know where to find them?

I created a Figma slide deck based on the default “Basic/Light” template. I customized the font styles (e.g., Title, Header 1, Header 2), replacing the default “Inter” font with a different typeface. After making these changes, I published the modified deck as a new template. Here’s where things get weird: 4a.When I create a new deck using the “Use in new deck” option from the published template, the deck appears in Drafts with my custom text styles intact (Title, Header 1, Header 2, etc.). 4b. However, if I create a new deck directly from the template gallery, the font styles are labeled as “Custom” rather than the original names (Title, Header 1, Header 2, etc.). It seems like the custom text styles aren’t being fully retained when published, causing inconsistent behavior between methods 4a and 4b.

I’m mocking up a flow of a process which contains accordions that should be conditionally expanded or collapsed based on what step the user is in the process. I know the easy way to do this is to create a screen for each step of the process with the relevant accordions manually changed to their collapsed or expanded states, but it would be lovely if there was a way to do this via variables. Ex: if a component is meant to shown on step 1, then its expanded/collapsed boolean would be tied to a conditional. Something along the lines of “If processStep = 1, show. Else, hide.” And so on for all the other components.

Recently I have major issues with component instances not being rendered correctly. Every other component instance is rendered incorrectly upon opening the file. To fix the problem I have to click into every instance, which seems to correctify it but is a major painpoint since I have hundreds or thousends of instances all over different files. This means I have no idea if the handoff to the programmer is actually correct since I don’t know which instances are incorrect or if they are rendered properly or not on the different devices.

I wonder if there is a way to reset a particular overridden property from the list returned by calling the overrides property. I see the resetOverrides method. However it resets all of them while I need to drop only one particular override. Essentially, I need to do the same thing shown on the screenshot below (reset size), only via plugin code. It it possible?

When we first created it, the way we handled things like auto layout and responsiveness was different, so now the auto layout isn’t working well. We also have duplicated variants because, back then, we solved the problem by creating a variant with an icon in the label and another without, as well as versions with and without an error state, and so on. Nowadays, we have the opportunity to optimize this. Instead of using these variants, for example, we are treating those differences as boolean properties. I wanted to test conditional prototyping + multi-mode for variables. I was thinking that if I downgrade my plan after a while, what will happen to these prototypes or modes? The case is I’m not sure if my team which I’m working with will continue paying for the professional plan or not. And I don’t want to get too dependent on these tools. Is there any help link to explain the process clearly? I didn’t find anything useful. here are my questions: If I use multi-action + conditional prototype, will they work even after downgrade? (am I still able to view them or not?) If I create multi modes for my variable collections, would they still be usable or do they get locked? if they get locked, what will happen to styles that are connected to the modes? do they get detached? If I create more than 3 pages, after downgrade, would they still be visible, or they get locked? I would appreciate any explanation.

I am having problems importing styles from a remote library. I can’t get them to display in a div inside the plugin interface. I had no problem with the variables but now I can’t import them correctly. Because I imagine that they work in a different way but I can’t find the documentation. Thank you very much in advance.

Hi I’m currently working on a large project but my Figma was displaying as offline I have reloaded the page but I am now getting this error " Connection error: -2 Your computer may be offline or the Figma server may be experiencing problems." Just before this is was doing some strange things (like adding extra padding to components) when displaying on colleges screen. Can any one help please?

Im dragging elements like images or icon etc into a frame and the disappear when the are inserted. i can see the stroke of them but they are invisible. They are not behind any element

I usually use cmd+opt+C (ctrl+alt+C) and cmd+opt+V (ctrl+alt+V) to copy and paste properties from one object to another. It’s normal when I use it for text. But when I try this action for a frame (E.g I want to copy all properties of the frame’s background to another one), this will break all text style inside. Cry a lot 😦 . This same issue with section properties. Is that a bug?

A terribly frustrating aspect of UI3 is how some of my most frequently used sidebar fields — X/Y position and width/height/AL sizing — jump around the sidebar constantly based on the current selection. If I have a component selected, it’s attributes will push the position and sizing sections further down the sidebar than if I have a standard shape selected. As someone who’s heavily reliant on manually inputting numbers into these fields, this feels like a UX cardinal sin for a productivity program. I think most of the changes for UI3 are just things that I’ll get used to over time, but this will always create friction in my workflow because every single component has a different number of attributes which will lead to the position/sizing blocks ending up in a different place in the sidebar. So I’ll always need to spend a beat locating these fields and this friction will add up significantly over time. It’s already slowed me down so much and is really frustrating. Would the team conside

WebAssembly compilation aborted: Network error: Response body loading was aborted

(I guess someone else talked about that but I couldn’t find any post.) In the previous UI, whenever I selected an object or component, the basic settings like position (X, Y), size (H, W), and rotation were always displayed at the top of the panel. However, with the new UI3, while the basic settings remain at the top for objects, selecting a component now pushes the component settings and variants to the top instead. This constant shifting of the UI makes me feel disoriented, a bit dizzy. My eyes aren’t sure where to focus, and the movement of key elements feels inconsistent. I understand that component settings are important, but I think the basic settings (like position and size) should always be prioritized and stay at the top for consistency. At the very least, could we have an option to customize this layout? Thanks, Cheers. Phil

Hi guys. There are two issues regarding the prototype-link. When I share the prototype-link with clients, they still have to request viewing access. This shouldn’t happen, as the purpose of sharing a prototype-link is to allow them to view part of the designs. Anyone with the prototype-link should be able to view it without needing additional permissions. 🫤 Now, when I grant them view access, they can also access the working file, which shouldn’t be the case!! They should only be able to view the prototype through the prototype-link and not have access to the working file. However, right now they can navigate from the prototype to the working file. 🤨 Please provide a better solution here. 🤞 Yes, I’m aware of the workaround of creating another file for the prototype/presentation, but this is not the best solution?

When presenting to a client, I want to show all the variants of the component. For example, let’s say I have a card layout, I want the option to a) show them and b) leave them with the presentation link where they can toggle through the different variations. The variations could be different colour backgrounds, layout coloums etc. Pretty much what I’m looking for is something similar to Dev Mode playground, where the client viewing the presentation can view the different component variants - is this possible?

Hi, I do a lot of copying frames (from an auto-layout parent frame) and dumping them out into a new Figma file to do prototyping (since we can’t properly prototype with auto-layout). When I paste the frames into the new document they are dumped out in REVERSE order from what I had them as. Please either: Reverse the order when pasting frames from an auto-layout parent Give us a special PASTE option (e.g. Paste frames in reverse order). Auto layout is the best… trying to prototype with auto layout parents is hell… at least try to meet us in the middle with a better paste option.

Why I can not use check if/else with string == ‘‘text’’

I tried to make an automated slide deck for a conference stand and got 99% of the way. I could use delay transitions between the slides, but not from the last slide back to the first. Couldn’t figure it out and had to make a normal looping prototype instead, which was a bummer… Is there any way to do this in Slides?
