I am a Webflow developer and have used Figma pretty consistently for 2 years. However, I am by no means a Figma expert. I’m pretty green.BUT… I’ve found it very challenging / annoying for a while now how painful it is to select a layer/group/frame, find the right one, etc. The most troubling is that when I am in dev mode, MOST of the time when I click on an element in the canvas …. then the Layers Panel on the left does not move at all to correspond with where I am on the canvas. How can this be? It just wastes a lot of time.If I EXIT dev mode, then the Layers Panel on the left moves correspondingly & immediately when I click elements on the canvas. This is expected behavior and Dev Mode should do the same.As a developer, I find Figma to be pretty frustrating at times UX-wise. Do other devs agree?

I am experiencing an issue when trying to load a library shared (be me) for my team. I am repeatedly adding this library under Assets, but still can’t use this. Is there smth I don’t understand? Does this workflow work for you?  

I can draw a straight line but how do I make it vertically straight. Can I also equally space out lines? TIA

Is it possible to export only part of a group? I’m in dev/view mode, so I’m not able to hide layers, and as far as I can tell cmd/shift+clicking multiple layers does not work. My current workflow is downloading as an SVG then opening in GIMP to remove the additional items.

Hi there.  I’m a UX and design system consultant.  I'm currently in between contracts and I'm wanting to put my time to good use by experimenting with plugins and Code Connect, but have just realised that in order to use Code Connect you have to be on an Organisation plan.  As a consultant (and the only one in my business), I really don't want to have to pay for 3 seats (which is the minimum for an organisation license).  I’m being quoted over £1,000 per year, which I simply can’t consider.  Is there anyone I can talk to about this?  I'm used to working with organisations and being on their Figma plans for this type of work, but as I'm between contracts, I'm a bit stuck.  Thanks in advance.

Hello, I’d like to share a prototype with people in my company who don’t have a Figma account and I’d like them to be able to add comments on the prototype without having to log in or create a Figma account. Is this possible or is this a new feature to come? I find the “start open session” feature on FigJam very handy for sharing FigJam files with people who don’t have an account, and it would be great to have the same for prototype files in Figma. Thanks for your help! 😊

Hello, I’m wondering if anyone has been able to create ‘Appearance styles’. I’m creating a site that has a range of opacity settings on images as a design system. I’m wanting to have ‘Appearance styles’ similar to ‘Colour Styles’ or ‘Type Styles’ so I can easily adjust these across the different images & have a clear system for development.  Has anyone been able to do this? 

See title; that’s the gist of my question. Further elaborated: When zooming @100% it’s not actually accurate with what I see on my screen. Rather, setting zoom @83% is actually closer what’s represented to reality (e.g., on a browser!). See image attached where I’ve proved this strange bug. This question has already been asked, but there isn’t a definitive answer. Curious to know how people deal with this.

Hi all. I have an issue where i want to add semantic tags to my components, to be able to get the code in dev mode and/or VS code.Today i only get <div> in the HTML code. I have tried a plugin “HTML tags & Attributes” and i can see the tag and attribute in Figma, but it doesn’t show in the code… I hope for some help!Best regards

hey guys! I’d like some help solving a question about tokens in Figma and handoff to devs. On design view, we have the token applied with the semantics we created in the global tokens. But, on dev mode, these semantics don’t appear, only the token values appear, for example: “12px”, for the font size which we call “small” and “400” for the weight which is the default, “regular”. Do you know if there’s a plugin or some way to make dev mode show the tokens just like their semantics?

Hi, I’m trying to mask a frame with a vector shape (the shape of an iphone). I put the shape on top of my frame, then select both layers and click on mask icon on top nav. The result is the shape, becomes a fill on top of my frame, where I want the shape to be subtracted from my frame! I’m very frustrated and don’t know what to do. Please help.

When pasting text from design into a string variable, it seems that a color variable is being added unexpectedly. I don’t know what’s causing this.

Our SAML Azure certificate is about to expire. When I generate a new certificate, I am unable to update it in Figma through the settings. As a result, when I activate the new certificate and attempt to log in using SSO, I encounter an error indicating a mismatch between the certificate in the IdP and Figma.

So I have a huge library ok. And we have different software releases, some of them at the same time. Each release is also a library for the new releases. And today I realized that the rendering does not work properly. Sometimes the screens does not appear at all and show up only blank, in other cases parts of the screens like text in tables and stuff or complete elements are missing. So if you open up the instance on the left layer area than everything looks fine again (for that one screen). Like in this case here (Stuff is pixelated for safety reasons. The customer would see me in Jail if I post it here unpixelated). I open up the page with the screens I want to take a look at and the left screen is broken:  If I doubleclick on the left screen the layout comes back like: And now you guys, what could that problem be? Love and Peace,Jean-Marc

This is an important tool on my workplace, and it’s good for me that many important tasks can be done using Jaws.Setting stamps are possible. But is it possible to remove a stamp, e. g. after a discussion (or if you recognize that you’ve done something wrong)?/ Morten

I’ve been running into the same issue as this below: Local fonts completely neglected, all of sudden Ask the community I recently upgraded my figma desktop. It suddenly showed “missing fonts” window to every component i used any local font. I reboot, reinstalled all the figma desktop and local font files. This is happening in the Windows dekstop and my Macbook at the same time. I also changed the type of the font file(ttf, otf etc.) but it didn’t change anything. [image] Does anyone have similar issue? Other teammates are also suffering the same… On Mac( Apple Silicon OS 14.4 ) w/ Figma 116.17.11 I tried every solution that mentioned in the topic above. All other apps like Adobe recognize the fonts the same as before. also I have not changed anything like machine settings or so. One thing that changed recently is just the Figma update. It’s been blocking my work and making me insane! does anyone have a solution?

Occasionally I’ll see this cloud icon at top right, warning me that my file isn’t saving. What’s interesting is that I always have several files open, and while sometimes more than one file will show this icon it’s never every file. It’s not the whole app, it’s just file to file. Some files are saving, some aren’t, and I can’t figure out what to do about it. Obviously it’s disconcerting to work on something that I know isn’t saving - what can I do about it? -I’m marking this as solved because people need to see Mike’s post, but “solved” is very much in quotes because the fix is a hack - it’s a workaround for a problem Figma hasn’t fixed yet.

I know that it isn’t really possible to navigate to a nested frame(s) but I really need a solution for this.What I want to do: Home page with a selection of projects  When a project is clicked, it navigates to a frame (ex. WORKS_ARCWAVE) inside top frame (ex. WORKS) but the whole frame (WORKS) remains scrollable so each project doesn’t have to be on a different page (frame)   This way the menu on home page is useless as it would always bring you to the top of WORKS page and I’m wondering if there is any way to make what I want possible. 

So, basically I am making an OTT app design, where the elements are supposed to move horizontally, but after putting them in auto layout, setting their frame to same as that of og frame, and doing everything, im getting this weird blank spaces on both sides, tried padding aswell. Please help, searched all over the net cant find the answer.Figma – 8 Apr 24

I am trying to horizontally scroll two frames inside a parent frame. While the scroll is working fine, there is an issue of extra white space occurring at the start and the end of the scroll. I am not able to get this issue fixed for some time now and seeking help for the same. Attached are the screenshots of the screen.

Basically I have a component which is always in the background of the design. When a toggle link is clicked I want to hide this in the prototype - and display it when the toggle clicked again. So basically the element shows/hides when another, separate element is clicked. I’ve setup a local boolean variable called “Grid Visible” which has the values true/false. I’ve then ensured the background component has this applied to it in the Layers panel by right clicking the eye icons and applying “Grid Visible” to it. If I go back to the Local Variables panels and click the “Value” so it slides between true/false the visibility of the component disappears and reappears - so that’s all working! But when I try to Prototype I can get the link (which is in a totally separate component) to work with “On Click” and then “Set Variable” or “Conditional”. This is what I currently have (below). In my head this is going On Click if the value = false, set it to false. If not, set it to true but nothing c

I have a TextNode that can include Rich Text. What would be the best approach to recognise style changes such as bold text, line breaks (These come as \n in the .characters property of the node), bullet points, etc.I’ve tried various methods, I managed to identify bold text using getStyledTextSegmentshttps://www.figma.com/plugin-docs/api/properties/TextNode-getstyledtextsegments/But I didn’t find a way to detect when the TextNode has bullet points.I basically need this because I’m converting the TextNode to HTML, so I need to be able to reliably identify every rich text property.Thanks in advance.

Please tell what will happen to the pages, if, having a Professional plan subscription, I create for example 30 pages inside one file. And will have only one file inside my only one project in the team. By canceling the subscription, will I be able to edit all 30 pages or not?Thanks to everyone who knows the answer and could share the info!
