Hello! I need help locating the variable button. I’m following a tutorial where they attach a number variable to a text box. In my Typography section, I can see options to attach variables to line height and letter spacing. However, I don’t see an option to assign a variable to the entire text box content, which is what I’m trying to do. The dark theme screen shot is mine and the light theme screen shot is from the fallow along video.

Hi, I would like to see memory usage in layers panel. According to the Figma documentation there should be an option called ‘Memory usage’ found in ‘View’. This option is not visible for me. I find ‘Resource use’ but this does not display the percentage to view how much memory my layers and components are using. I tried to search (⌘+P) for “memory”, but didn’t get any result either. I also uninstalled Figma and re-installed, but still no Memory usage option. What have I missed?

I’m looking to prototype a sticky bar in Figma that becomes visible once the user scrolls past x% of the page height. The animation should have a smooth slide-up effect to keep the experience seamless. Any ideas on how to achieve this in Figma’s prototyping mode?For example, a sticky bar appears only when user scrolls to 20% of the page and it will become fixed to bottom of screen for the rest of the scroll depth. Then when a user scrolls back up, the element releases from the fixed position and disappear. You can see this in effect on this pageDoes anyone have any solution to this?

I’m working on a plugin to generate HTML and CSS from Figma designs. I am facing a positioning issue while generating CSS from the designs without auto-layout. While Figma’s auto-layout designs provide CSS properties like flex properties, so it’s easy to make the design responsive in that case. But, designs without auto-layout do not have those css properties. Is there a way to identify layout direction (vertical or horizontal) and spacing between elements in designs without auto-layout?

I offer free plugin on MIT license . As I remember there was no option to choose the license during publication so it was for free on MIT . I want now to add additional plugin services that the users could pay for them - i am reading now the payment api , but I am not sure so I would like to ask - does the payment checkout needs to be made by me like handle with Stripe , Paypal … payment ? Regards

I want to get list of libraries (along with their published version) used inside my figma design file using the REST API. I could not find anything specific in the documentation. Is there any way to do that?

When I click on the button, screen 1 should go to screen 2, and the button should move from enabled state to pressed state, while pressing. As you can see from the prototype, while moving from one screen to another, the icons on the right side do a strange effect, become a square. Can someone help me fix this? Also, for the kind of animation from screen 1 to screen 2 that I need, I have to keep the smart animate between the two. Thank you!!

I haven’t been able to get a clear answer on this via the chat, so I am hoping someone here can answer:If I own the updating and maintenance of our organizational design system, I think I will need an organizational account. If our graphic designer and web designer need to access our design system to pull components from it into their designs (but not edit the actual design system itself), do they need an organizational account as well? Does the organizational account just give you the access to own and change the organizational style guide, or do you also need that level to use its components in your design?

Hi Everyone, 3 years later, is there still no way to copy and paste prototypes to another file?I have way too much in the master file that I still haven’t cleaned up do to an import from Sketch (did not go to well).  I cannot give the team access to it.  When I copy over to another file, all the links/variables/code breaks.  I cannot duplicate the file either as I have to give a new URL and access to everyone every time I change something.This is so annoying and very surprising coming from such a standard product.

I will do a step by step to recreate the issue.1. create a component with 2 or more variants, In this case I will have a true and false swapping between the two styles. Then nest that component into another component 3, Then create an instance of that component and set the a variable to switch between the two variants we created with the original component. when the variable swaps between the variants it will reset all changes (including text changes) to the default in the original component (first image) Note: this issue does not exist unless a variable is the one to make the change. If i manually do it, or it changes by an interaction it works as intended, its only when a variable is introduced does it act strange.    

I paid the annual subscription for my Figma team, it’s been a month since I made the payment and so far everything was going well and recently I got this message “Payment failed Our last attempted charge was unsuccessful. Please update your payment method as soon as possible. File editing will be locked after 3 failed attempts.” and the charge was made to my card.

My Figma isn’t suggesting replacements for misspelled words. It does highlight the spelling errors, but when I Command-click or Control/Option-click, no alternative spellings are offered.I want Figma to flag errors and provide replacement suggestions, as I’ve seen this working for my colleagues.I’ve checked that my language is set to UK English under Figma > Text > Spell Check, restarted Figma, and I’m using the native desktop version on a Mac (not the web app).Any advice on how to fix this? I’m dyslexic and working on shared FigJam boards with my colleagues and not being able to correct my terrible spelling is inhibiting and painful 😥

Hello I’m not able to select ‘on click’ in my prototype. It needs to open an overlay when clicking on a button. The default interaction is ‘on tab’ which I don’t want it to be. Does anyone know this problem and how to solve it?  

How can i create a scroll-changing header that remains fixed on top while scrolling, and can be applied to multiple pages.

Ive created a Bottom Navigation bar and after setting it normal none scrollable frame there isnt an issue but when i apply it to a long frame where i have to scroll vertically, just after i apply fixed (Stay in place) when i play in prototyope the bar bounces to middle of the frame and back after clicking on the icons.Can someone please help me with this as it keeps occuring for me everytime or is there any hack to avoid this?

Hi, I hope someone can help me. We recently moved from Adobe XD to Figma because Adobe abandoned the software. We have many files and boards that we need to transfer from XD to Figma. I’ve tried the Covertify plugin, which brings the pages across broken and I also tried contacting Magicul for more information about their service, but I didn’t get a response and their social reviews are negative. Has anyone had any success transferring files and boards from XD to Figma? If so, how did you do it? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I seem to have run into an issue with variable mode switching - here’s the issue:my design system has a set of around 300 variables for 4 different services and in the main library I am able to switch between these 4 ones on components just fine. However, now I wanted to create a collection of variables in a different file (where the main library is attached) and I want to be able to get the assets from my main library and switch it between the modes defined in main library BUT also between the modes in the new collection created in the local.I may add that all the colour, text, … variables are different for each service value-wise but they are defined by the same name: same goes for the newly created file - the names matchIs there a solution or a workaround that’s worked for you or anything you can recommend? Thanks in advance! 

Hi everyone, We recently created a design system where every component is its own library and the people in the organisation needs to enable that library in order to use the component. However, we also show our design system through an online service and allow user to access the component files (view only) clicking on the file. Therefor we give the following access: It then says “Everyone at (organisation) can access this file”, BUT, when they want to enable the component from shared libraries it doesn’t show up in the list. It only shows up if we have the following setting: “Anyone at (organisation”, instead of “Anyone with a link”. Why does this setting give more access to the organisation? What is the difference here? The problem with this setting is we cannot give access (view only) to people that want to view the component file from the online service. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi everyone,I'm working on a Figma plugin using variables, and I've encountered an issue with variable binding information on instances. Here's my situation: For a component (the main/original component) that has its characters property bound to a string variable, I can successfully retrieve the binding details. For example, using: node.boundVariables['characters'] returns an object with binding information (including the variable alias). Then, using await figma.variables.getVariableByIdAsync(variableId), I can get the variable details (and see a variableDetails structure, including the variable ID and mode-specific values). However, when I create an instance of that component and bind its characters property to a variable, the resulting instance's characters property resolves to the overridden string value (e.g., "Share Link Open") and the boundVariables object does not include a key for "characters". In other words, I cannot see the variable binding details (or the variable ID) fo

Hi Figma team, I’m writing because I desperately want to keep using Figma at my organization which is dealing with sensitive information and cannot allow cloud-based apps anymore. Not working with Figma is like sending us to the Stone Age. I know your official policy on this topic, but please, reconsider! We need to keep doing amazing stuff through your amazing tool that is continuously innovating within our industry. (How can we turn back and use another tool that’s not supporting variables and Dev Mode the way you do?) Hopefully, there’s a solution at some point! Thank you!
