I’m currently the solo person on the team that works in Figma and eventually builds the website using Elementor. After designing a site and then discovering its not easy to implement a part of it, I want to recreate the Elementor widget in Figma and use variables for its design parts. (Sidenote: I’m at the point where I want to start to break free from Elementor but the boss and the client want to be able to edit the site.) I was able to do this successfully for one project, but want to make it easy to use for the multiple clients/projects that come. Variables were set up using the Base, Semantic, Component so changing a base color to the new brand’s colors is a simple process. I originally thought that having a library of the various Elementor widgets in a neutral color scheme would do that could be imported into various files. Components from that library still use its variables, as expected. Is there an easy way for me to map to the brand’s variables? Effectively, a super wide view

I came across capcet (http://capcetapk.com), I’m curious if anyone has other recommendations, especially for tools that integrate well with Figma.Second, I’m having trouble optimizing the animations for different platforms (like web or mobile). Does anyone have tips for maintaining quality while keeping file sizes manageable?Lastly, I’d love to hear how others handle syncing animations and transitions smoothly in their prototypes. Figma is the best tool, but I think it have something to do better to make a nice portotype I don’t understand why the overflay not support smart animation? another question is when I use overlay Nav to another page, I can’t go back the overlay, I feeling so crazy…

Hi guys, I have a Figma file with 100s of frames and I would like to export each frame as a .fig file. But Figma only allows to save the whole file as .fig. Do you know a way to easily split each frame into different .fig files?

Hello! I want to create a simple Figma template that lets you add images to your design I want the image to have fixed width (to adhere to the column grid), but auto height to keep images aspect ratio. E.g. if my fixed width is 800px If a user inserts a portrait image, it resizes to 800px wide and becomes “tall” If a user inserts a landscape image, it resizes to 800px wide and becomes “short” Can’t find a way to do it: Auto-layouts, components, and “Place Image” maintain the dimensions of the old image “Choose Image” with the “Fit” option places new image in the middle of the old frame See attached image for the illustration of what I mean Any workaround for this? Some combination of auto-layouts and settings that I’m missing? Thanks!

Hello all, We use a shared library with text styles, and it works across all files except for one, where a specific style (“Small 500”, which is weight = medium) cannot be selected. When I go to Edit Style, the font name appears broken—SF Pro Text is concatenated into a single string (losing all spaces). However, there’s no other visible indication why it should be broken. The “A?” yellow icon indicates the font (weight?) is not installed locally, but again, it works across all other files in our projects. Oddly enough, we can manually replicate the exact same text parameters in this file without issues. Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas on what’s going on? 🤔

What happened to the variable details in Dev Mode that got announced recently? Below is a screenshot for reference. You’re supposed to get an ellipses on hover with the option to see variable details. They were working the other day and now I don’t see them? I’m on the latest version of Figma.

There is a node in the current file that uses local textStyle. I want to replace it with textStyle from teamLibrary.At present, I can obtain all textStyles locally based on getLocalTextStylesSync(). So how can I obtain all textStyles in teamLibrary?

I’ve been in the UX/UI industry for over 15 years and have worked with all kinds of different grid systems. I have a client who insists on using a baseline grid to align items, assets, and components. However, the components he builds with AutoLayout have all sorts of odd values (13, 17, etc.) just to ensure they fit within the baseline grid. To me, this feels awkward, and after countless discussions with him, I’m just exhausted from emphasizing the advantages of a grid system based on AutoLayout with consistent values like 2, 4, 8, 16, 24, etc. What is your workflow like?

Hi there, So had an google account without Gmail, i used my hotmail email account for my Google account. Since a few weeks I created a Gmail account under my existing Google account. If I now try to sign in with Google it signs me in with my new primary Gmail account and I can’t get to my old account. Is there some way how to fix this? on other websites it works fine when i now ry to sign in with google so i think Figma does something wrong with google sign in and creates new accounts. I hope there is a way to get my files back. I tried Figma support but i don’t have an payed account so they wont help me.

I’ve searched for similar topics but haven’t come up with anything that directly answers the problem I’m having. Hello everyone, I’m new to Figma so I apologize if this is an obvious and easy solution, but my layout column grid is covering the rest of my design layers and I’m not sure how to turn this off. The tutorial I was following added in their layer elements and they automatically went over the applied column grid, whereas with my design, the grid is automatically covering my layers. I’ve tried bringing the layers to front and changing the opacity of the grid, to no avail. I’d appreciate any and all assistance! Thank you.

Someone have any idea how to solve this scrolling issue?I have my frame set to scroll, and when the PDF icon is clicked, an overlay outside the frame opens. However, it scrolls when the main UI scrolls as well. I can’t seem to tell the frame not to scroll with parents. Ideas? I feel like the solution is simple but I can’t think of it right now haha.  

The menu center at the top where you click to create new components is gone, how do I get it back?

I’m trying to use Figma auto layout wrap with components inside. I set the parent component width to have a fill property and set min-width and max-width values but the instances of the parent component are not inheriting the “fill container” property. Due to this minor issue I have to manually select every instance ( children components ) within auto layout and set the width to fill. Then it works. Why do I have to do this? why can’t I inherit the “fill container” from parent component?

I published components from Project A and am using them in Project B. When I’m in Project B I get an “update components” notification and when I update it reverts to an OLD version of the components. The same is true for variants. we have an accent variable that was switched from an old color to a new color, and every time I update components in Project B, it reverts to the old color. EDIT: when I click “go to main component” it goes to the perfectly fine component. if I copy it from there and cmd+shift+R it into Project B, I’ll get the same godforsaken notification that “updates are available” and the updates will revert to the old trash version. wish someone would click “revert” on the Figma codebase.

 in my figma desktop app there are scrolling visual bugs and it’s bothering… I have tried several ways to find a solution but none of them worked (uninstalled and downloaded again, updated, troubleshooted) does anyone know why this is happening? 

Hi. I have 2 components which are cards.  When the card is >249px I want to show this card  and when it is <250 px I want to show this card I would use a media query in code, is there a way I can do this in Figma?  Thanks. 

I placed a navigation bar over a screen, whenever i click an empty space on the navigation bar in prototype view it just selects whatever is on the actual app screen behind that empty space

Creating this because all topics I’ve been able to find regarding this have been closed and I think this is essential.It’s wild that for string, number and boolean variables you can select another of the same type as a value for prototyping, but you can only use HEX code with color variables. Why? This makes it impossible to take advantage of modes and aliases, among other functionalities, when creating a prototype.Screenshot of Figma  DocumentationI haven’t been able to find a plug-in to circumvent this so I would appreciate it if someone’s  willing to share whatever workarounds they’ve been able to find, if any. Thanks!

Hi everyone,I recently create my portfolio on Figma but I’m having issues with hyperlinks on Macbook PDF viewer. On my Windows PC with Edge it opens perfectly but on Apple side I can’t click on the hyperlinks, only text shows up. Any advice?
