Resize the bounding box of components without resizing the contents

Hi all,

Is it possible to resize the bounding box of a component without resizing the contents? I can see the option Resize to Fit but can’t find a manual option to drag?

Hi @Jen13, Thanks for reching out about this!

I am not entirely certain, but it appears that Auto Layout has been applied to the “Rectangle 1” component. If you select the layer you wish to resize and click on the square handle in one of the corners to drag, do the nested layers also resize?

If they do, could you please check the Resizing settings for layers in the right panel? And by setting them to Fixed width/height to see if the values of those layers dimensions will remain the same.
You can find more information about Auto Layout properties Resizing settings here:

I hope this clarifies things a bit. If I have missed anything, please do not hesitate to let us know. We welcome any additional insights or suggestions on this topic, so feel free to join the conversation.

Thank you,

My settings are already what you suggested so that doesn’t help. Changing the component’s frame via the W/H fields does warp the elements inside.

I am having the same issue (it’s always been an issue with frames, including components). The “command + drag resize” definitely works, but it’s so much faster to drop the exact number into the W and H fields, especially if you’re having to do multiple of the same change.

Is there a quick fix or existing way that is the equivalent of using command while dragging to resize, which would apply to the W and H field?
