Reorder variable collections list

This needs really needs to be fixed… Same as last reply; Collection order is not following any logic. Suuuuper annoying.

I don’t understand how such a usability issue still persists.

The logical flow for creating color variables should be:

  1. Create Primitives
  2. Create Semantic Tokens

However, the fill color selection panel orders these by creation date, which means primitives always show first. As a result, I have to scroll past every primitive to reach my semantic colors. Please fix this!

This is an incredibly important topic for design systems. It should definitely follow a better logic than “creation date” (e.g. alphabetically) or be individually adjustable!
Much needed! Please fix this!

Still an issue a year later, I see :frowning: this is such a pain

+1!!! Really don’t want to be messing around with sneaky solutions to fix.

Please fix the ability to reorder color collections in the fill. Or let it follow the collection ordering in the variables manager

Yeah, still an issue for me too. With nearly 1870 variables and the primitives being the first in the list nobody is going to use the tokens. It renders them theoretical at best. I need to be able to at least order the collections.

Wow. How is this still not solved? It’s been over a year

Has anyone else had random reordering of the collections?

I made sure to create the Token collection first, and it’s usually on top. But for both me and my colleague, Primitives appeared first instead.

We then rebooted Figma, and now the order is correct again. I have no idea why this is happening…

Any update on this? Hugely needed.

This is such an important topic for design systems! +1 for the updates above. & would also love the ability to collapse collections/select from the list a collections that are available within that color library screen so its not as overwhelming to look through for the user!

my god this is killing me, i recreated collections, and it randomly sorted itself again. FML i really need this feature. :rage:

Fix this please, broken feature since release.

+1 i need this, my team needs this! (;

I am not using some of the collections just because of this. Come on guys, fix this please.

Honestly this is so annoying. Figma started as the design tool that preached ultimate freedom but when it comes to adding basic features the disadvantages of closed source software show. 314 upvotes and counting but people can only scream against a walled garden for a feature that takes less than 10 lines of code yet would strikingly improve the UX for a small yet growing audience of people working on design systems.

How is it possible that such an important basic functionality like sorting is still missing… :sob:

I need this also. Please add it.

How is this still not solved? The original post is over a year old and this would be such an important feature improvement. It’s incredibly tedious adding colors to elements atm. Logically, if you are working with variables / tokens, you will create your primitives first and then assign them to the specific color tokens. Then, in the product I will almost always exclusively use the color tokens, to enable use of light and dark mode, etc… So what would be the point of sorting the color variables by order of creation?

OMG more than a year and this bug has not been fixed. How is it possible that the collections can be sorted in the variables board but when they are seen in the library panel they cannot be arranged because they follow the order in which they were created? Please fix this once and for all.
