I am creating a wide set of input components, for each of these components I want to add a label option. Ideally I would be able to create a master label with its options like size, label text etc. that I can add to each of the input fields. At the moment the only way I can give access to the label text is to surface the nested components, which then makes all properties for that component visible in the master component within it is nested. I think it would be really helpful if: A property added to the master component can be assigned to a property of a nested instance of another component, e.g add a text property to the master input field and then assign that text property to the child instance of the text label component An alternative to the above could be to allow users to decide which properties of a child instance to show as opposed to showing all of them. So in this example, when I select to show nested instance properties, instead of just selecting the instance for “input
CONTEXT: A team is working on a master design file with a master theme and component libraries. The master design file component are published for use within brand designs. The team needs to generate brand designs from that master design, that are composed of instances linked to the master design. Each brand has its own theme and component libraries that are used to customise colour, typography and components like headers and footers. The team needs to swap the theme and component libraries for every page of the brand design (to update components and typography) USER STORIES: As a designer working on multiple brands, I want to be able to automate swapping libraries across ALL the pages of a design file So that I don’t have to spend hours going through each page manually swapping libraries from the master design theme to the brand design theme. As a developer of a plugin to increase productivity for teams working on multiple brands, I want to be able to automate library swapping withi
So, here is my routine workflow: I use macbook and a extra 32 inch size monitor, I will open 2 windows, one in the monitor for main design, one in macbook’s screen for component usage. I can just copy and paste instance from the latter to the former, I think it is faster than use shift + I or drag from assets panel. But here is a inconvenient situation. when I trying to scale layers’s slide panel in the big windows so I can see more layer name, the small windows’s layer slide panel was be widen too. And it difficult to use, since there are limited space in the small macbook screen. Processing: Screenshot 2024-04-03 at 1.47.23 PM (2).png…

PLEASE never get rid of this feature! Me and my lead creative are SO happy and love it so much. The “HUH” meme cat truly spoke to us. We love Figma!!!
When I annotate text in dev mode, when its line height is set as ‘Auto’, the annotation shows ‘Auto’ too. However, even ‘Auto’ exists as some numeric value, which does not show up in the annotation. Would be great if the line height could be annotated as e.g. ‘Auto, 19’, showing that its set as auto, but the numeric value associated with it is 19px
It seems there’s a newish “feature” in the layers panel that collapses layers and has a ‘see all layers’ label. the problem with this is that when i deep select a layer (i.e. ctrl/cmd + click), it does not automatically go to that layer in the panel. instead it remains hidden under that collapsed state. super annoying! please fix this that so that it automatically exposes the layer in the panel when selected. also, there should be an option to turn this feature off, as it’s rather opinionated and not in a good way.
I often use the Figma Android and iOS apps to quickly share what the designs are with investors and friends. However, sometimes the internet connection where I am at isn’t the best and all I see is a white screen. Could we download the prototypes so we can still present them without a good internet connection? The screen I see when I don’t have a good enough internet connection:
It would be amazing if Figma created a tool that can create pagination similar to InDesign or Keynote! Or any general tools to enhance presentation creations in Figma; the multi-edit tool is definitely heading in this direction! I’ve been making presentation decks in Figma for the past 3 years and relied on plugins so far. It works but not all the time which can really hinder a project that requires 200 pages needing page numbers 😦
When I do (shift+ i) to search for a component, I find that the first results sometimes are less relevant. For example if I’m looking for our “text input” component, the first results that come up are icons like “text bold”, “Text markdown” which I never use. However I’ve used “Text input” thousands of times. It would be nice for the search results to consider the frequency a particular person uses something within the order of results. I’d want this “text input” to appear first to be clear.
“I increase font weight all the time. I wonder if there’s a keyboard shortcut for it.” CMD + / (quick-search appears) Type “Keyboard Shorcuts”, and press enter. (Shortcuts panel appears.) Type “font weight”. (Shortcuts > Text tab gets selected. “Font weight” is highlighted.) Memorize the shortcut. Click your text and use the shortcut (Shortcuts panel’s still open to help you remember.) The Problem: You have no idea whether a keyboard shortcut exists. You might not know the right terminology (“font boldness”). You have no clue which tab it might fall under. Solution: Search gets you there so much quicker, then back into your work.
Now that auto layout improvements and Variants have landed, my pages have more and more nested components. One common friction point I run into is the following: Pull a component out the library Set up overrides on a nested component, e.g. a button’s label or icon Decide I don’t want that button to go there, or I want to use a different component Set up the same overrides on a different button. What I’d like to have is some kind of “paste overrides” functionality, or maybe a “replace with component from clipboard.” Basically, I’d like to be able to: Copy my button instance with all its overrides Select another button or maybe some random nested component instance Hit Paste and watch the button and its overrides replace the selected layer It would really just be a shortcut for selecting a nested instance, using the swap menu to choose Button, and re-filling out the overrides. But saving time and cognitive load in those little repetitive actions would make the design/prototyping exp
You could use this to achieve a delay before showing a tooltip for example. I am finding the workarounds to not having this feature buggy and not successful in achieving such a simple use case like the delay on showing a tooltip. Please consider, thank you and please upvote if reading this and you agree!
It would be awesome if there was a way to delete any duplicate elements that are directly overlayed on each other.
Problem: When dealing with lots of instances in our files it can be very time consuming to select the correct layer that contains the instance we want to modify. Current workflows: Command + Click on a child layer of an instance, then Shift + Enter until the parent instance is selected Repeatedly double clicking the canvas until the instance is selected Clicking on a child of an instance, and then the “select instance” button in the Design Panel or navigating the Layers Panel Command + Right Click and choose layer from popup menu All the above options require multiple steps and don’t feel efficient (aka supafast!). Suggested Solution: “Instance Select Mode” When this mode is active, the cursor would strongly favor Component Instances when hovering over layers. The smallest instance that exists at the mouse location would be selected when clicked, much like the current Command + Click behavior. While in this mode, Instances could be highlighted with a purple border to indicate that th
The new properties feature is great. However giving it a name past some character length feels crowded and the ellipses do not help. I can scale the UI as documented in here but that does not help us laptop users. So I wish I could resize the panel to better see the name of the property, similar to how I resize the left (layers) panel.
I’m talking about this change: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039234193-Review-and-accept-library-updates Please bring back library update notifications. Tiny little low contrast blue in a corner of a big screen as a sign of libarary updates guarantees that nobody notices to apply updates uness they were the one to make the changes and need them applied immdiately. Library updates were a buggy mess already and this only makes things worse.
Select matching layers seems to ignore hidden layers. I’d love an option (perhaps a checkbox in the settings) to be able to select matching layers whether they’re hidden or not.
Hello, in the same fashion you have the possibility to change multiple colour styles in a document (which is called “selection colors”). It would be great to have a list of the different text styles used inside a text box and be able to change, break or create text styles based on this list.
I don’t see value in being able to sort the property values order independent of the variant order. These lists are identical, why is their order not? I’m tired of manually syncing these two lists.
This is a common mobile interaction so it feels like a big miss to not include it. This has limited my ability to test some things in the app I’m designing which is a bummer.
Hey amazing Figma community! 👋 Are you tired of the repetitive tasks involved in user research and testing? Do you dream of a more efficient way to validate your designs? Well, I’ve got an exciting idea that could revolutionize the way we test Figma prototypes, but I need your support to make it a reality! Earlier this year, I came across Tencent’s groundbreaking AppAgent project. This project utilizes a Large Language Model (LLM) to understand and interact with Android apps autonomously. I was inspired and thought, “Why can’t we bring this same level of automation to Figma prototypes?” So, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. Using the Chrome browser’s API, I developed a prototype that demonstrates the potential of automated testing within Figma. Check out this quick demo video to see it in action! However, here’s the catch: Figma currently doesn’t provide an API for prototype screens. But fear not! With your help, we can change that. By showing our collective enthusiasm an
We have pretty big design files and several libraries with components and styles. When applying libraries updates, especially if the file is an older one and has a lot of updates queued up, Figma just freezes for a significant amount of time without giving any feedback. It would be much better if there at least was a status message, like “Applying updates, please wait.” Or, ideally, a progress indicator.
Greetings! Can I use Figma on Linux Mint? How do I install it correctly? Are there any special features?
