I work with three different brands, each having its own set of variables for colors, sizing, etc. Our goal is to create a unified “mapped foundation” where we standardize colors for both light and dark themes. Once this is done, we integrate this file into our “alias foundation,” which organizes everything by brand. For example, let’s consider a button. Currently, I have a --clr-surface-button-primary variable defined in each brand’s “mapped colors,” allowing us to specify both dark and light versions. We then incorporate this variable into the component alias file, where we have a “brand foundation” set up with the same variable name, --clr-surface-button-primary. In this setup, I define three modes: brand 1, brand 2, and brand 3. Here, I assign the alias for the surface button from each brand’s mapped colors. Everything works well, but the issue arises when I create my file. I can switch brands, but Figma displays three variants of “mapped colors” instead of recognizing them as a sin
I would love a way to hide a specific frame’s layout grid. Currently, you can only turn all grids on/off or you need to remove a grid from a specific frame to hide it. I’d love to be able to preserve a frame’s grid, but temporarily hide it. My use case is having an overall grid for a page, but then creating another grid for a child component. It can be hard to see what frame each column belongs to.
The Figvar Plugin has the ability to create a companion variable that holds the formatting instructions for characters in a string variable. Would be great to make this a standard part of the way Figma works, so as to not need to handle this with a Plugin like Figvar. Please add a formatting attribute for text nodes to enable mid-sentence formatting to hold when characters are updated by variables
Everything started at the moment that I saw an UX case mobile interface showing elements with individual behavior in one single interaction. I’ve already used After Effects, ProtoPie, Lottie, Rive, and some other tools to try to make my animations and interactions more smooth and rich in details. I love Figma and how this tool is getting better, but I beg its staff to look upon with affection at Figma’s prototype and animation part. The run mode always starts to fail at some point when the interface becomes complex, losing performance. Also, we can’t create different animations/behavior on the elements bound on the same trigger, I mean, when you create a trigger like on tap, you also set all the animation configuration that will be the same no matter how elements will change on the second screen. And the most painful moment for me is to surrender to any of the other tools mentioned before to optimize and improve my prototype and animation design step. I really wish to use only Figma to
The title’s pretty self-explanatory; the issue is not impacting the overall experience. Right after hitting the “Create new team” I changed my mind and wanted to quit, but hitting the Esc button did not do that. The interface where this happened is (hopefully) uploaded right below. Although this was a small stop I encountered, I think it might be my problem to not immediate think about using a “cross,” which in this interface is located on the top right corner. However, I think that it might be common for people to use Figma in big screens, and that cross in the corner may not be noticeable for quite a while. I am on 13-in MacBook Pro. Do people have similar issues?
Highlight or inform if you are being followed by someone. I think it is important for us to know if we’re being followed (or stalked!) while working. Just my 5 cents.
Ever since the iPad pro M1 launched, I’ve dreamt of being able to use an iPad for my UI work. The browser experience works quite well, but the Figurative app comes with some nice features such as double tap to undo, and that the pen is being able to select, while the fingers is used to navigate the canvas. I would love for these features to come to the iPad browser experience as well, for a more native experience! I also had some ideas while trying to only use the touchscreen and pen, and skipping the keyboard. The biggest frustration for me right now is that I miss the shift and cmd keys to example get an element placed in the same horizontal line, but primarily to be able to select multipel items. My suggestion is to introduce on-screen buttons for the shift and cmd keys, this would definitely help me a bunch. And to spin off on that idea, it would also be cool to be able to have a “macro” button that you yourself can customize to a keyboard shortcut. I also saw a thread on the Figma
Please search for existing topics before posting! Press 🔍 at the upper right to search. "Creating components is hindered by a poorly positioned property panel that’s often too small. Additionally, the property panel icon is inconsistent, appearing only after hovering, which creates a frustrating user experience. This makes the component creation process feel more like managing instances than building new elements.
A large portion of the time links need to be inline with text. With a link symbols, you can’t do this. Link always wraps below or under the text, not inline.
Example: I copy a text with font size 24, and i just copied it to get the content of the text. When i paste the same content to replace an already written text which is in font 14px, it should not paste the text as font size 24 but as font size 14 to be similar to the text I am replacing
Hello, So of course I’ve been using the feature for some time (like 3 years ; ) but today it struck me… when I have a huge Figma file with different things and one of the things is a prototype with its own flow of connections and I share it in prototype view - can the person also open it without prototype view and see what’s beyond the prototype? It struck me because I wanted to share one of the frames and I opened the link in an incognito browser window and I could see EVERYTHING. I did it in prototype view and I can see only this one frame. HOWEVER, when I see everything in my Figma and I click share, then it shows all the people that I had shared the initial prototype with… so it kind of mixes those ideas? Can anyone help me understand: I play a prototype, share it either with a link or invitation - the person can only see the prototype view and frames that are part of the prototype? I take a frame in prototype view - it behaves as above, just this one frame is visible? I am in Fig
I don’t see a way to modify the embedded Figma prototype link once added to Slides. I am looking in the toolbar when selecting this Embed object but don’t see settings. It would be nice if there was a URL field to paste in a diff one and work more quickly (maybe it auto refreshes then) or a button. Check out how Maze dot co (app) is integrated with Figma links and you have more tools to edit your prototype settings right within Maze.
Google Slides has a nice feature where you can look through and then restore previous versions of your presentation. Very handy for accidental changes, or working with groups and things getting lost or overwritten.
The left panel is always fighting for space with pages and layers, and now with the new UI, there’s even less… What’s the point of a vertical column, where space is at a premium, wasting so much for the Figma icon and file name when they could be side by side like below.
You can do this on desktop (see screenshot). I can’t seem to figure out how to do this on the iPad app.
When boards are old and haven’t been visited in over 3 months, make it so the stickies start to curl and fall off like the leaves of a tree in autumn. This will encourage users to maintain their files and bring more of a realistic skeuomorphism to the experience.
When I set a navigation with the “back” function, It would be nice if I could choose between 2 options: go back to previous page go back to previous “page group” I think this would be helpful to avoid being stuck in loops, or non intended back navigations. “Back” is such a useful functionality because it makes the prototype more clean and with less interactions, but many times it doesn’t work as intended. Don’t know if this is the best solution for this problem, but that’s an option.
Current Behavior Selecting multiple instances of the same component allows changing the same property across all instances: As soon as that same selection is put into a group or frame, the shared properties are lost: Nesting these components in another component allows exposing properties, but only from each nested component instance individually, not collectively: Requested Behavior In the case of groups or frames that contain only instances of the same component, I would like the properties to be displayed the same way as they are in the multiselect case, like this: When exposing properties of nested components, I would like the option of exposing the properties of a type of nested component (which would apply to all components of that type) in addition to the current behavior of exposing an individual instance’s properties. Something like this: If there are multiple types of components nested, each type could be exposed either as a group or individually, like so: Thanks for
This is a really small thing but the amount of time I’m trying to paste text into a design/component without styles attached, vs with them, is vast. Could we get a menu option to swap the shortcuts for these two actions?
I like that toggling design mode on gets you more styling and features but it’s lacking a lot of features that would be great. One example is selecting an object and just converting to a component, maybe adding some states or frames to turn it into an animation and quickly save and use all while staying in Slides > Design Mode.
Then I would be able to adjust the export settings to reduce the size of the PDF.
As an Admin, I want the ability to set an End Date for Edit Access for temporary users, contract workers, and freelancers.
For big projects where many designs are placed under one tab it will be useful to have an ability to open a copy of an already opened tab and switch between tabs to work on a different parts of the same project in parallel.
Please make it possible to apply colors to a layer’s fill or stroke by dragging variables from the Variables window or styles from the Design panel onto the layer. This will make it much quicker and easier to find and identify the desired variable or style and then use it to colorize a layer than having to remember a name of a style or variable and then search for it using a tiny popup menu that only shows a max of 10 rows.
Ability to see different font size when selecting a bunch of words with different sizes instead of seeing ‘mixed’. Able to merge the different text sizes into the selected one
