Currently it requires me to select a frame or whatever context and then inserting the component.
This is pretty counter intuitive and even after working for years in Figma I can’t adopt it since it’s completely different that any other copy paste mechanism on the internet.

Hi! Not sure if I understand you completely, but I just started to drag the item with my cursor from the Shift + I menu to my sketches and it works fine (although the Shift + I menu does not close automatically). Could that help your situation? // Ebba

That’s what I am doing atm, but dragging requires much more cognitive effort to move the cursor with precision to the position/auto layout depth (I often make mistakes here and drag to the incorrect place) compared to just copying to clipboard and pasting wherever I want

I also get the time after copying to point directly where I want to paste (there is ‘pressure’ when dragging to do it with precision) + I can paste it multiple times if it’s in clipboard

allows also more flexibility to paste and replace etc
