What I can’t stand the most is that the panels of the new UI can’t be attached to the edges. They leave some gaps, wasting the space to display the main design and operation area. And visually, these gaps are also distracting my attention. The toolbar at the bottom also interferes with the main operation space, especially if its color is the same as my design draft. By the way, is it just for the convenience of novices to move it from the top to the bottom? If someone who uses Figma more frequently, he will use shortcuts instead of mouse clicks to trigger these functions. So I hope that adjustments can be made in time in the official version of UI3, otherwise these redesign will seem like a subjective conjecture of someone who doesn’t use Figma much.

Can we change the Component selection back to the way it was? We should be able to search on components, but also see a list of the components available. My creative team is not going to remember the names of components to go search for them. The only way having ONLY a search is to be able to add tags to components so the creative team can search based on attributes of the components.

When Figma announced the new UI, it immediately made me nervous but gave them the credit, that they (should) know what they’re doing.

The new UI is awful for productivity.

I work with external libraries 99% of the time, publish changes / update buttons are super hard to access / hit now and I use them 100x throughout the day.

Everything is tiny and hidden inside menus.

Reminds me of hardcore editing software.

Why do I need to re-learn how to use the tools that I use daily?

Too many changes at once.

Not built for speed and efficiency.

When working with white frames, it blends in with toolbars, before there was clear separation.

I must admit, I haven’t done a lot yet in UI3, but my first feedback surely is: please make the panels dockable to the left and right again, at least as an option. As stated many times before, it’d make better use of the screen space and would be visually less distracting. Also the visual inconsistency between the projects area (docked) and an open file (floating) would have been gone.

I cannot say it sucks (I don’t know which metrics they track).

That said, I reverted to the classic version as well.

Agree with everything written here, want to add to this list:

it is very frustrating to figure out the size of elements that have been set to Fill or Hug, example: I have to do an extra click to figure out if my button is 126px or 128px width. This information should be visible at a glance without clicking similar to X and Y coordinates

It is visible if you slightly increase the sidebar’s width.

I’ve been struggling with the new UI. With every new version of any app there’s always a bit of an adjustment period. I’ve experienced this many times over my last 20 years as a designer.

That being said I feel like I’m being forced to revert. The new UI is so small and condensed I have to constantly scan and search for items that I didn’t even have to think about before.

I’m embarrassed to say how long it took me to find the bottom nav. I’m not kidding it was like 2 weeks. I’ve never seen a main menu floating at the bottom like this before. I couldn’t contain my laughter at how dumb I felt for not seeing it at the bottom or the page. Then again this whole UI / UX update feels like it goes against best practices.

“Lets move the main menu to the bottom of the page, hide functionality and make everything way smaller”… Best idea ever!

I’m giving up and reverting to the old UI. I gave it 2 months and I still hate it.

Totally agree! This thing is broken hopefully they make adjustments or even better, revert back to the “old” UI…
