1. Formulas in token values (mathematical operations) It would be incredibly useful if we could use simple formulas (e.g. paddingXS*2 + paddingXL*2) when determining token values. Many design systems (for example, Ant Design) use this approach to dynamically obtain tokens. Currently, we haven't even found an analog that can be implemented without any plug-ins). The lack of such a feature makes the work a little more difficult.2. Transparency support for color tokens Currently, if we need a semi-transparent version of a color marker (for example, purple is 100 at 50% opacity), we have to create a separate marker or manually redefine opacity, which breaks consistency. It would be great if we could keep the original color marker and just apply an opacity modifier (for example, "purple-100" at 40%) without resetting the base value. Thank you for reviewing these improvements — we are glad to see how Figma is developing!
You can only see 8 rows and its too much scrolling. It doesn’t need to be only one column nor so short. If you’re on a 27 inch monitor or bigger it should adapt and grow proportionally to show 30 or more selections at once. It could easily be three times as wide and 3 times as tall. I know about showing just the swatch but I need names visible. Secondly the most commonly used choices could come up first without having to search.
Why, in UI3, does an object move 2 pixels each time when using the keyboard arrow keys to move it? I am so surprised by this setting!
UI3 feels incomplete. There are so many quality of life features and ease of use benefits that UI2 provides that were taken away in UI3. The UI3 experience, especially for people who have been using UI2, feels like a significant downgrade to the user experience. UI elements are more difficult to see and understand in UI3, like the layers panel - these new icons are awful, and it's more challenging to collapse panels with the new way the layers panel functions, which is very annoying. There are fewer helpful dialogs (example: UI2 says “Exporting” when it’s processing the export of images. UI3 just hangs there, no dialog, and it appears like it crashed...This is a downgrade to the user experience...Why was this ever changed?).In UI2, you can hover your mouse over any measurement setting, click it, and use your mouse to increase or decrease the value. In UI3, this interaction is buggy about 80% of the time I try to use it, and it infuriates the hell out of me. I feel like I’m relearning h
See all layers is creating a fair amount of annoyance in my work flow. Please remove this feature its annoying to no end.
Hi,I had a file named "Wellow UI Kit" in my account (ipek.eldek020@gmail.com) but I can no longer find it.I’ve checked my Recents, Drafts, Trash, and other workspaces, but the file is missing.Could you please help me recover it or check if it has been accidentally deleted or moved?Thank you!
Amen.
Hi, I am in more teams and when I switch from one to another, all sorting inside projects resets to “Last modified”. Can my choices be remembered?
I really appreciate the new Slide Deck feature – it's a great addition! However, I noticed that it's missing a lot of the editable controls that are essential for creating polished decks. For example: It's hard to find where to adjust spacing in auto layout – I don’t see the usual controls. When adding lists, it automatically applies bullet points, but I couldn’t find an option to switch to numbered lists Maybe I missed something, but it’s genuinely hard to find where to make these edits – the right-side panel feels quite different from what we’re used to in design files.
The top bar, which takes up about 75px, was a significant shift compared to the new design. The canvas increased by only 40px, but it took up 120px at the bottom to accommodate the tool being moved there. This change created a gap: previously, we needed 300px to access the tools and layers, but now it’s around 1650px, and that’s being conservative.Shortcuts are helpful, but removing the top bar to increase canvas size doesn't solve the core issue. Moving the tool to the bottom is like reclaiming land from an island. Having the tool at the top allows for more flexibility, with unlimited nesting possibilities on either side, without being constrained by limited bottom space. Additionally, assets in the left panel with the option to expand are far more intuitive than horizontal popups, which interrupt the workflow and complicate the task.Another issue that isn’t directly related to UI3: the image editor toggles. Why can’t the values be displayed so we can see exactly how much they've been
I have encountered this so many times that I am wondering if there is anything that can be done. When you use a frame with an effect like a drop shadow applied within another frame, the main frame cuts off the shadows unless you add padding. If you then add padding to the main frame, the components inside falls out of the grid. I don’t know a solve but it would be great if the frames did not cut off any components with effects like a drop shadow.
To edit a comment we click on the comment first, then three dots and finally “Edit” option. The only option displayed is edit so how would it be removing three dots and directly displaying edit option?
Thanks for making Annotations available outside of Developer Mode! However, there’s no quick way to hide them, which can be a bit frustrating. When there are a lot of annotations, they tend to clutter the layout and make it harder to navigate.
Since the last update, I cannot see the green numbers (see the attachment) in Design mode. These green numbers are convenient for me to know how many annotations are there for a particular screen. I wonder if others also lost these green numbers since the last update, or if my loss is due to my Figma settings somewhere.
Just switched to UI3 and everything feels so foreign. Vague icons, lower contrast, confusing UX on old features, weird placement of things...I could go on…I used to be an expert with auto layout and now it’s just a nightmare to use...Please let us stay on UI2...
I notice in new UI3 there are extra space was stolen what make negative space works less effectively. This mean it is difficult to scan any icons, fonts, items, categories on the panels. Problem - extra paddings makes lower scannability and overloads space.Solution - get rid of extra paddings - UI2 has no problem such like that. Use hover to display padding and make no margin between objects.
I notice one similar problem related to the reason why I migrated to Figma. Becouse it is a simple and intuitively clear interface to use. Why Im not happy with new UI3? Because I feel like changes was made just for changes (simple example is the target icon or some wording) It was the best application ever made for designers and for developers. Position ≠ absolute but “ignore auto layout” - it makes us designers far from devs. I wish we could talk on the same language.I suspect that it was made to get us used to it because some new grand merger will be coming soon. Summary - it became more complicated and misleading. I spend much more time getting used to it now than in 2018. (I understand a lot of features were added)For me, it is still changes for changes, they are solving nothing - only add time to thing where should I find it and why the hell is it here. New features could be realised in UI2 successfully. The better idea would be to make user tests.
Ever since the release of UI3, Figma has not been the same. Pages load slower, the canvas is way laggier, multi-selecting multiple child components make the whole program nearly non-functional, and the endless loading wheel has become my new best friend. I’m not sure where else put this other than here.I get new features are new and exciting, but using figma has actively slowed me down in the last year simply by not having the performance it had prior to UI3 release. My whole design team is feeling the same way I am and we’re becoming increasingly less pleased to be paying thousands of dollars a year for this program if it continues on this path.I can’t attach videos here unfortunately, but I’ll be more than happy to share examples of issues I’m running into if any mod/Figma employee would like to chat further.
How do you lke this book?
Please understand that my FigPal (Laza Kostić) needs to roam freely! It pains me to see him bound to my cursor. As my pal’s pal, I want to have the ability to release him and let him crawl freely across the canvas (stopping occasionally to graze on grass, lollypops, and other food necessary for survival of FigPals. He may occasionally come to say “hi” while I’m working on my designs and I can call him back home when it’s time to sleep.
Before the new pricing model, the “People” panel allowed admins to selec t a couple of users, and modify their access & permissions in one go. This was a very practical and obvious behaviour — but it’s now gone! Users have to be processed one by one, the only batch options is to remove them entirely from the space, or copy their email. This makes admin work really tedious and needlessly time-consuming. Please bring back this simple feature, thanks.PS the UI itself to select all users with a specific Seat type is also way too complex. You need to click Filter, select the Seat type and then apply changes. Why not allow user to just click on the big icons on the top right to filter in one click?
Great job with Figma Slides guys, but, why rounded corners for slides? It’s extremely annoying, it’s hard to design like this. I don’t want to be forced to design with round corners. Could you please remove them? Thank you!
Left Sidebar (slide view) in Figma Slides doesn’t have any scroll bar. It might be fine if you work on you laptop with a trackpad but I have a iMac + Wacom Tablet set up with no trackpad and I can’t scroll through slides. I need to click every single slide to move up or down.. I can’t find any setting for this in Figma. There should be one. It’s a basic feature of any interface. My system settings are: Show scroll bars - Always.
Our dev team love the Focus View mode, but it is somewhat cumbersome to go back and forth between the normal ‘File’ view to the Focus View. To switch you either have to click the arrow, which either brings you back to the Activity Feed or the File, or use the 3 dots + clicking on ‘Inspect on page’. What about a simple toggle switch between Focus and File view? Why hide ‘Inspect on page’ behing this three dots if there’s only two options in there which have very different purpose:
Hey Figma Team, Community. I love the new variables system and the ability to change appearances. However, I came across a reoccurring problem in the last weeks: People with only view rights, are not able to change the appearance of a component or frame. This was something we designers weren't aware about. Is it possible, or maybe already in scope to allow people with view rights only, to change the appearance mode? I think this might really help and keep files slim and clean without making lots of copies and changing appearances modes.Let me know your thoughts, thanksJonas
