I am not sure if this is an content issue on email notifications but this was email I received. “Because you’re on an Education Pro team, content training is set to ‘off’ by default.” Couple of facts: I am admin on two Professional plan accounts and have no idea what “Education Pro team” is Content training was set to ‘on’ on both accounts I manage Does anyone have any inputs on this?

Hello 🙂 I’m currently designing an app prototype in Figma. I wanted to ask if it’s possible to have 3 buttons in one frame and depending on which one I press, a different variant appears in the next frame. Normally you would just do this without components with 3 different frames. But I don’t want to have to repeat the path 3 times afterwards, so this step should also be with components. Is it possible to do it like this, and if so, how do i do it? Thank you very much for your help.

Something strange…“Figma Ran Into a Problem” error only on my M1 Mac. Cannot open my homepage to even select files or add/remove accounts

Throughout the rest of Figma (and most other apps where users can edit text), ⌘+K is used as a shortcut to add a hyperlink. Figma Slides doesn’t use this shortcut in the same way. Someone’s opted to use it to invoke a search box (which is also common, but not really in interfaces where you’re creating/editing). The context menu in Figma Slides even shows this as the shortcut to add a link. Can you please fix this so it’s consistent with the rest of Figma, and every other tool I use? Super annoying! 😬

I’ve been playing around with Figma Slides and every time the left sidebar will stop displaying content after a certain time. So i don’t get the option to add new slides and my already existing slides will not show either. I think it always happens after i’ve added an asset library to the deck. Here’s a pic for context. Does anyone if this is something i’m doing wrong or if this is just a beta bug?

hello, i have 2 issues with variables i have weight set at 700 both # and value and it keeps changing to 900 i go to layer, change variable mode to desktop, when i see the dropdown of the values its correct. when i click to apply the mobile value gets linked. can anyone help please?

Hi all! Is there a way to get color and text styles data from the REST API? I’m using the /v1/files/:key/nodes?ids=:ids endpoint, and the response on nodes > [node id] > styles returns all color and text styles but only metadata, nothing related to font family, font size, color etc. Is this expected? I know that I can get those styles if I look for an specific element that is assigned to those styles, but that won’t always be the case, for example, if I have 10 text styles but only 5 are being used on a file, I’d still want info from all of them. I also tried using /v1/styles/:key but for some reason it always returns 404, and by looking at the documentation, it also only returns metadata and not the actual styling information. On the Plugin API I can just use figma.getLocalPaintStyles() and figma.getLocalTextStyles(), so is there something similar to this on the REST API?

How do I make a prototype with a master checkbox that affects the column of checkboxes below it.

I recently got early access to Figma’s Beta version, and I’m super excited to dive into all the new features! However, I’ve hit a bit of a snag. The “Make Designs” AI feature isn’t working for me, even though everything else is running smoothly. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips or fixes? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Making a new Figma Slides template, got all of my color, text, and grid styles loaded into my template. Published all of my changes. Made a new slide deck with the published template and when I add a new slide it shows the old default 1x1 grid rather than my saved style grid. Same thing happens while in the template building new pages when adding a slide it loads the 1x1 grid. Also noticing when publishing changes to the template. Slide decks made with it don’t show the new published changes. Only if I add a new slide then it does.

Hello, I happened to update Figma to the newest version but just found the previous built-in Figma basic design examples (see screenshot) were removed and replaced with iOS, Material UI, and a new Simple Design System. Is anyone able to find/provide the previous basic example files? I’ll appreciate it as I am building something based on that basic design…

How to get Scroll behavior > Position > Sticky with Plugin API?

How can I access the value of a variable font axis. I’m writing a plugin and trying to extract the font from a TextNode. It’s possible in Figma to set the font axes to a custom value for variable fonts(e.g. the weight of the font). When I do this in Figma the input for the font style changes from e.g. ‘Regular’ to ‘Weight: 357’. My approach to accessing this property was to read the fontName value of the text segment and then read its style property. But, and that’s the problem I’m currently facing, instead of giving me that value of ‘Weight: 357’ I just get the style ‘Regular’. After further testing I noted that the font weight gets rounded to the nearest style that has a text value. For example, 120 becomes ‘Thin’ and 170 becomes ‘Extra light’. This is a problem because I am unable to get the exact weight, only a rounded value. Is there something I missed? Another way of accessing the weight to get the exact value? Hey! i created different variants to my button component, and when i add it to my project, i want to change the size of it. when I’m hovering over the button it changes to the hovered variant and excepts the text override, but not the size override and i can’t figure out why. thank you!

Interactive components not working. How to fix it?

I’ve been setting up a design system for me as a designer, but ultimately I would like to give developers proper insight into the way I have set up my design system. What I like about Figma’s Dev Mode, is that it allows to dive deeper into the variations of components, for example. What I miss, or what I didn’t discover yet, is that developers should be able to inspect the intricacies of component properties. Here is an actual example: A button, which has 3 states, but also a prefix icon and a suffix icon. This button, with states and optional icons, is available in three hierarchical levels: primary (dominant styling), secondary (less dominant styling) and tertiary (subtle styling). The Playground is a nice way to discover all of the available variations of a component (including boolean/enum properties). But you can’t really inspect what is going on. Hi, so basically I want to try making a “dress up generator game” where you can change clothes/hairstyle/pants/etc The reference I had in my mind is something like, theres an avatar at the top and the outfit options on the bottom. there will be 2 or more sections for “hair, clothes, pants” section where in each section, there will be a multiple option for hairstyle, variations of clothes I have tried using components for only ONE section where you can click option hair 1 / hair 2 / hair 3 and it went well. But I was wondering how do I save this option state (lets say I choose hair 2) and now I want to move/click the other section example pants, which obviously I want the “hair 2” still there without getting resetted when I’m choosing the Pants section. Is there anyone can help or have a tips on this? Thankyou so much

I am a developer, and we’re trying to figure out if Figma is something we want to use in the company I’m hired in. The designers started using this recently, and made the button states as variants, which i guess is how it’s done in Figma, so it has a variant for hover, focus etc. But it could’ve been any component with different variants, doesn’t matter. I am wondering if there’s really not an easy way to see the difference between two variants, preferably while in dev mode? Here i would think i could click, and somehow compare them. Going into the playground i can swap and visually see the difference, but only visually… Going to the main component, i can try to figure out the difference, but it doesn’t seem “safe” and it’s also just very time consuming and annoying having to leave the main page of the design 300 times, when trying to design an entire page. Is there really no easy way when on the “main” page of a design in dev mode, where you click on something, to tell that it has di

Hi there, I’ve watched this helpful tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuJL8t4myms (building a dropdown with variables) and there are many more like this one, but none of the ones I’ve found take into account the fact that the dropdown, not being in overlay, when inserted into a page with other inputs tends to push the next element below. If you use the absolute positioning function or set the height of the instances for just the touch are, the dropdown instead will appear behind the next element as there is no control of the z-index. Does anyone know a solution for this case? Thank you
