So about Font Variables

So… you guys just released a font variable support, which have a few limitations and is currently still not 100% usable in our design system.

You guys allow only ‘Font Weight’ Variable for Variable Font Axis selection. What about ‘Slant’, ‘Width’, etc… Many fonts support them and without them we still can use font style tokens partialy since ‘Width’ cannot be assigned.

Also Line-height… it only accepts number without suffix, in our system we use 2 line height variables. 130% and 150%, Figma supports these values without variables, but when i try to define them with number variables, percentage is not allowed and line-height does not accept string variable…

I’m kinda dissapointed that this thing took one year for you guys and its soo basic.

    Basicly i can only use Font-Size Variables and Font Family Variable, thats basicly it, thats way too basic for our design system…

    We’ve got the same issue with the line height. I hope there will be a solution for this soon.

    seeing the same on line-heights as well as letter spacings when using variables it’s px based but when working with fonts i expect % based.

    also why are they at the bottom? if there are variables I can use for size/line-height the option to use variables should be on top of the arbitrary numbers they provide
