Hi, What is the distinct use case for the instant swap property? Is there a way to use it such that it reduces variants and instead you can bind asset variation to variables? I’m trying to improve performance for prototypes while adhering to requirements that assets be on the same page. I started using IS property but I’m now finding it less/not useful. I’m wondering are there distinct use cases for the IS property today? *Instance Swap
I work at company which deals with sensitive information. A common method used to keep information from leaking is refraining from using cloud services. Since Figma is a cloud based app, I’m unable to use it as most users normally do. It is pretty clear that Figma team decided to make it impossible to use Figma offline. As stated in their help docs, while offline you cannot " Create new files, or open files that you don’t already have open." This makes Figma unusable while offline. Many people out there would benefit from using Figma offline. I don’t see a reason to keep limiting the offline functionality as it currently is, so, Figma Team, please help a brotha out!
Hello, Is there any way for an audio file to play when user clicks on a button/image in Figma? Thank you.
Hi, sorry, this is a duplicate of which i didn’t tag correctly and i couldn’t find any way to update / delete, feel free to delete that other thread. 2 days ago, some new logs appeared in the console while developing my plugin through the plugin API : [Plugin API] Validating property "x" {rawValue: y} whenever i update a figma object, for example : setPluginData, or setting a node property; This came with another new log which i never saw before and is probably part of the same update :[Plugin API] Plugin run kendmcjkn9 finished {pluginEndEventData: {…}, setPluginDataStats: {…}}(this one is not bothering me though)The problem with that first log, is that it impacts performances and readability to a point where i can’t work anymore, i’m totally stuck right now.Is this new log intended ? any way to get rid of it ?Thanks in advance.
I created a book on Figma, and it has several A4 with designs on top. When I click “file” and export, it only export some items, but not the whole pages: The A4 are on the frame setting already, and all the designs are “grouped” together with the frame. Also, they’re connected in the prototype mode in the order the pages should be. How can I export all pages at once in the correct order?
I’m trying to assign a variable to a property in an instance of a component. The variable and property names are identical, but it seems the menu icon is completely missing from Figma. Is this feature no longer available? My Figma app is up to date. Variable: Instance property: According to Figma’s support pages, an icon should be visible next to the property:
We’re building out our design system and we’re wondering why our components are appearing faded and if that may be problematic for us in the future? Thanks in advance!~
Hi everyone, I'm new and using TypeScript to build a Figma plugin. Is there a way I can let others test my plugin without sending them only the manifest file before I publish it to the community? (I'm using a figma education account)
Hello, I am trying to purchase a professional plan for my personal team on Figma, but it shows this message when I am reviewing the billing info: Your payment method’s address is in a country that can’t pay in EUR. Please use a different payment method. My bank account is in Poland.
Hi there, so I am working with a Design Library from SAP and the prototypes I create have a major font issue. Hover states are thrown off and except for me (mostly) the prototypes seems utterly broken. Does anyone here happen to know how I can fix this? I have been in contact with the support, and I have replaced the font assuming everything would work as it should. Only to find out that the issue persists. Don’t the prototype links update automatically? If it’s not a system font do coworkers and clients have to have the font installed?
Hey guys, I’m new to the advanced prototyping and I’m trying to do the following thing. I have a web page which has 5 cards and the “Next” button (initially disabled). I want to make the following flow: -User’s select a card (only one card can be selected at time) Button gets enabled User clicks next They are shown one of the 5 pages depending on their choice. Is this possible to do in Figma? Thanks!
Hello! I’m looking for someone who is very experienced with app developing that may want to assist me with making my app more efficient. I’ve started creating it but need help! Anyone interested in helping? :)
I have created a QWERTY keyboard component that is made from a separate Button component simulating a Button press. All Buttons effectively inherit the Button component that is embedded in the QWERTY keyboard component. Basically a component made up of components. The Button component has 2 variants, Button up and Button down and the transition I have used between the each variant is mouse down and mouse up.Button Variants - Mouse Down & Up triggersWhen I insert the QWERTY Keyboard asset into a frame and then try and extend the event to transition to a different frame i.e. OnClick say the enter button it doesn’t transition. Trying other transitions like hover over seem to work but that is not the behaviour I want. My question therefore, is there an event inheritance problem between embedded components within a “master” component. Basically, I am I trying to simulate the behaviour of a keyboard with mouse down/up and then an actual transition to another board is trapped using the On
Hey all, wondering how to solve this issue. We created prototypes to embed in our dev docs site, so there are multiple prototypes on a page and different pages. Every prototype has this cookie banner (highlighted in pink), even when I’ve already accepted it once. How can we remove this? Can it be shown only once? Thank you! Denise
What is the recommended approach to solve the following…?Setup:We have a single Component Library file with all our components and styles and variables. We have a separate file for Design Assets that contains instances of our components which are used in our documentation (Zeroheight).Problem:To get updates to components in our Design Assets file, we need to publish the Component Library, which publishes it everywhere.Question:How can we continuously push component updates to our Design Assets file but not publish our Component Library to everyone?Caveat:We would like to NOT have to copy/paste anything between files and NOT move the Design Assets into the Component Library, which is already getting a bit big.
I was logged into an old school email, and after graduating recently, the institution deleted that email address. I wasn’t able to edit the email for the account and now, I cannot sign back in. I’m really scared as this was 3 years worth of work 😭 and I would hate to lose it. I have created this temporary account to connect with support teams to get some help. Please let me know if there is anything that can be done!
The drop-down “things” of our Design System are designed to go over the other items, so not responding to auto-layout or similar. When I open a long drop-down menù in a page, or just a drop-down menù that is near the ending of the page, this goes outside of the frame, disappearing; how can I solve this problem so that I can show the function of it while prototyping?
I’ve used multiple plugins where after you run it the first time, there comes an option on the right sidebar to rerun the plugin, but this time it runs with the previous settings, without launching the UI. How can I add that functionality in my plugin?
Is there any shorcut to create series of arrows along the curve as given here in the picture? Can we do the same using pen tool?
Hi, I’m working on a protype that tends to be very slow on older phones. Obvious reasons like too big images etc removed.I know shadows are one of the things that slow prototype and in past indeed this often was a big effectiveness increase in my protytypes, when I have removed them. However, the protypes I am working on right now has them not just for “beauty” but also as a functional part of UX, so removing them completely could affect usability results I guess. I wonder, does anybody know if chaning the shadows to frames with transparent gradients or frames with gradients in mulitply mode would be any better for prototype effectiveness? Or is more like this that anything transparent is so much challenge for Figma proto? Thanks a lot if anybody could help : )
I'm trying to prototype a simple Google Maps style interaction, where the map is scrollable in both directions, and the bottom sheet is draggable. Somehow that seems impossible to do?I've tried 2 main methods: Bottom sheet variants with drag interactions fixed at the top of the map, but the map under it is completely scrollable, so it doesn't read the drag at all. For some unexplainable reason, Figma doesn't treat the top layer as top, and allows everything under to scroll. I tried treating the bottom sheet as an overlay, but then everything else becomes unclickable, which also is unintended. Have been through community files and YT videos but either their content doesn't scroll in both directions or they use overlays, both of which don't solve my problem.Has anyone worked around this before? I want the map to scroll and the bottom sheet to be draggable. Thanks in advance! Here’s the file with method 1 (try using it on phone) Figma File
Will there be a way for exporting all variables so that I can hand off to my developers? If this exists already, how to do it? The Figma Studio Plugin allows to download a JSON file with all the token definitions. I wonder if I could have the same for my devs. The feature Dev Mode allows you to see which variables have been implemented while selecting a component. However, developers in my team would like a full list of these variables definitions. Thank you so much for these new updates! Great work. I am fascinated with these new features. Love Love Love!
Hi Figma Team, I’ve been developing a plugin for a year now, and suddenly my console started reporting a message that i’ve never seen before :[Plugin API] Validating property "skipInvisibleInstanceChildren" {rawValue: true}This seems to happen whenever i update a figma object, for example : setPluginData, or setting a node propertyAre you familiar with this message ? why did it appear ?The problem is that i’m now seeing millions of logs like this when running my tests, and it kills the performances + readability to a point where i can’t work anymore. Is there any way to reduce the log level in order to avoid getting spammed by this ?Or any work-around ? Thanks in advance if you have any insights.
Hello, Can I export an interactive image? I create a footer for my email and I want to click on to an item anv open a link. Thanks
I have a frame as an example, and when I try to view it in prototype mode the frame size looks wrong, I’ve tried everything; clean cache, changes the size, frames, etc, but nothing works, someone knows how i can fix it? Thanks.
