I’ve just published a library containing Material Design icons as components in my design file and when I search for any of those components Figma does not find anything. What am I missing? Thank you

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you share your file link by inviting support-share@figma.com? Don’t worry, inviting us to view your file won’t impact your billing!

I am having the exact same problem. It started a few days ago.

My team is having the same issue. We just noticed it yesterday.

Hi all,

Thanks for flagging this issue! We shared this with our internal team but could you please share the file link with us to reproduce it on our end if possible? Please give edit access to support-share@figma.com, which won’t affect your billing! Alternatively, I can DM instead if you prefer, so please let me know.

Thanks for your help and patience.

Hi there!

Same issue on our end. Published library components are not searchable (all libraries selected)

Given components can be selected though by unfolding the libraries, so the publishing part was done right, only searching is not working.

+In the library itself, search is working - as local components.

Hello @y_toku, I’ve just shared the file to the e-mail you’ve provided. Thank you.

Having the exact same issue.

Hello, also having the same issue with our team. Would be great to hear any updates about this!

We’re still struggling to reproduce this issue.

While searching the trash-03 icon doesn’t show up, but scrolling to the list is available. My icons set is in the same file

Same issue, also having issues with publishing libraries: it’s loading for too long and then it freezes. It’s very laggy and slow, too. I am using desktop application. I know that sometimes when the team is enrolling new features, it tends to get very laggy, but we need this issue fixed ASAP; it drastically slows everything down.

Hi there,

Thanks for flagging. We don’t have any updates on the component search issue. Regarding the performance issue, could you try the troubleshooting below?

  • Close any Figma tabs you’re not using

  • Browser : Force-quit and open Figma in a new browser window.

  • Desktop App: Force-quit the Figma Desktop app and restart it. If the issue persists, try clearing the cache.

I hope this clears the performance issue.

Thanks,

Toku

Same issue for me, restarting is not helping. Did anyone find a fix?

Hi there,

We can’t replicate the issue, so could you submit a bug report detailing the steps that led to this issue? You can do so by following the link:

Thanks!

Any update? I’m having the same exact problem starting this morning.

You are not alone! This is definitely a new Figma bug. I tried to search for “check” in the Heroicons library and Figma couldn’t find anything. It was fine last week.

Not much help…but at least you are not crazy. As far as we know.

I’m seeing the same issue here; it started happening recently. I’ve been using the same MaterialDesign Icon library for years, and now, suddenly, I can’t find the icons I need. I notice that the search does not return results for some icons but works fine with others.

FYI: ❗Unlinking and linking back the library helped. Now the search returns the results as before.

Same bug as you ! I have a library with a vast amount of icons connected to my file. It doesn’t find icons when I try to add them to my file. Drives me crazy when I want to replace an icon to another.

Hey @Clement9, thank you for reaching out!

I wasn’t able to replicate this on my end. Is this happening in the browser, the desktop app or both?

Can you please try the the following suggestion a community member has suggested?

If this does not resolve your issue, please file a bug report: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360001744374.

I am an interaction designer and I primarily use Figma as my design tool. Recently, I’ve encountered an issue where the Figma resource function fails to retrieve all results. For instance, after adding the Material Design icon Library to Design File A, searching for “Arrow” in the Library’s Assets section yields over 100 relevant results. However, searching in the resource section of Design File A only shows 10 results, which is quite perplexing. The Material Design icon has already been published.

As you can see, I’m searching for “Modal - Change the Attribute name,” but the search results don’t provide the correct answer as expected.

+1. I think the search just doesn’t work.

I also get mismatched results while searching fot another instances. You can see on the screenshot below, that the desired item is the last in the list! Also, looks like, all components are in the list.

Has anyone else noticed a problem with the ‘Swap Instance’ search? See image comparing searches.

I no longer get results which have an exact match to my component name. E.g. Searching ‘Image’ does not show instances named ‘Image’. Yet the asset search does.

Confirming similar search issue, though happening with local components (nothing to do with library). Started happening a few days ago (all files, both Windows app and web app).

Search results used to match keywords, now all components in the current page show as results (ie, what is typed into the search has little bearing on what is returned).

See first screenshot:

  • What used to happen = “Title Component” would be the top result (followed by some other components with the word title)

  • What happens now = Random page components show in the results

See second screenshot:

  • Even when we try to search for a component from the first set of search results (first screenshot), we get totally unrelated results

turns out I can only upload one screenshot; in the second screenshot I search “STAFF App Card” which is the top result from the first screenshot, yet I still get a bunch of unrelated results without that component even showing in the results]

ps. we recently resolved a bug like this in a client app of our (a marketplace trading app). A developer had replaced an AND with an OR inside our SQL search logic to make the results broader. Turns out it made the results meaningless…
