I have a library full of color and text styles, but for some reason on one specific file they do not appear in the list (empty). However if I select any element it will display the correct style name i.e action blue, H3. So it recognizes the style value to the correct library, but the list will not show it when opened.

Sometimes it just shows one in the list, of whatever is selected (see image)

Things I tried:

  1. Restarted Figma

  2. Checked if the problem is happening with other designers in my org (Its not)

  3. Made sure the library has been activated (it has)

I am also experiencing this issue.

This happened yesterday and is now happening to me again.

Styles are gone again - UHGGGG!!!

Try checking for a Figma update and reload all tabs. It resolved the missing library items for me.

Try checking for a Figma update and then reload all tabs. It fixed my missing libraries for the right side menu.

X out your project tabs - it reappeared for me after xing out and reopening project.

if you restart figma it still won’t show up.

Yep - Deinstalled the stand-alone app as recommended above.

Forgot to “remove” the shortcut on my MacBook dock as part of the removal process.

However, reused this shortcut to re-open the app instance after deinstalling and emptying Trash.

All now appears to be well with the universe - styles are B-A-C-K!

Figma, you guys/gals gave me a scare - not fun! 😝

I just closed the pages and then they were there the next time (:

Same problem

Same here.

Has this been fixed?

Hey @Erin-UX,

Yes - a fix was already rolled out. If you’re still having issues after restarting, you can submit a bug report to our support team directly via the form here:

I am having this issue and have restarted many times since March. Styles are showing old names. Sometimes the old names AND the new names show up. Occasionally I am seeing only the correct style names. It’s inconsistent. In all of these files only one library is turned on, and it’s our design system library – the issue is the style names not showing the new names consistently. Thanks!

mine is still not working even after quitting and restarting, happens to a lot of my files

I’m having a similar issue where my styles are loading, but applying them to an item has no impact to the item. Primarily with typography - I can change colour etc., but I cannot apply any typography styles from the library.

Still having this issue! Right now in the styles panel I’m only seeing the old names of our styles as “Local Styles” and the new names are not showing up. Library is up to date, published, and turned on in this file. Seems like a bug.

Having the same issue.

Having the same issue with only one of my files – even though the library is published and added to this file, no styles ever show up. on Mac. Desktop App.

Still facing this issue. Is it fixed?

Yea…my team is still having the same issue. super frustrating. our work around currently is just copying and pasting color squares and sampling. 🙄

Same problem going on here. I need to share my teams´ style library with another company to solve some urgent matter and as soon as I publish, everything disappears. The styles are there when selecting the elements from the system, but all the libraries are empty.

Hi! Thanks for flagging this. This looks like a bug that our engineering team is currently investigating (having trouble to publish to the library). Would be great if you can reach out to our support team so they can investigate it further: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

If you are able to, please invite support-share@figma.com with “can edit” permission, so they can take a look into this.

Thank for your understanding!
