I’m hoping the higher ups at Figma see how much every single one of their users absolutely hates this. But there’s no way that they wouldn’t have known that before hand. Selling their soul to the devil, but $20 billion would be a hard number to turn down I guess. RIP

I still remember Macromedia Fireworks, which Adobe acquired in 2005. It was a way better than Photoshop in many ways… Adobe discontinued Fireworks in 2013…

Hope competition bureau quashes this! Adobe acquiring them would mean higher cost and a MUCH worse product. Figma is about to become dog 💩
Sad sad day

Please Figma team, don’t do that. I know that everything is about money in our screwed world, but… Adobe is an evel. It will kill Figma as it is/was.

Thinking of those poor souls who invested time and money to switch to XD…

While we have been reducing our investment in XD, we will continue to support it. We are excited about Figma’s vision for the future of product design and the potential of our teams coming together to benefit our customers. After the transaction closes (expected in 2023), we will share more information.

It’s time to leave figma then…

Congratulations to the $20 billion, condolences to the design community.

I cant stress enough how bad this is. RIP figma, i hope we’ll have an alternative soon.

AndreiNistor

This is horrible news.

Very disheartening news. Figma is Software that just works very well. It gave us an alternative to Adobe, whose own size prevents it from making meaningful changes. I grew up using adobe software, but over the last few years I lost trust in their software and their business practices. Some things just can’t survive growing too large… I suppose that rings true for both figma as a company, and adobe as having designers in mind.

Very disappointed, and not fully convinced this can be a good thing for Figma, though I will wait to see further information is made public. If Daniel’s words hold true we might actually see some improvements. Still, curious to see how the company handles all the backlash.

This is why we cant have nice things, thanks capitalism.

Peter_Broomfield

I literally felt nauseous when I saw this.

Lea_Delazer1

Another one of these news we just have to accept. Everyone working professionally with Figma knows that we can’t just leave. We have to just swallow the decision which is fully understandable, rationally. I just would prefer not to have to read all the fuss about how great of an opportunity this is to make design more accessible for everyone…

It was a good deal that made some hard working people really rich. Good for them. We’ll have to see and hope. But please let’s just skip framing this move in a goody-goody way.

I’m just sad to hear this news.

@Devin_Ouellette - Capitalism made Figma possible. Greed made this acquisition possible.

RIP, the auto layout and prototyping is so good/slick.

Back to sketch it is I guess.

I fear the moment I have to start the resource eating Creative Cloud client to start Figma. My guess we will see the first unpleasant changes in terms of pricing and eco-system lock-in next year. Followed by grotesque product development the year after.

Arjun_Chandran

Please don’t do this deal, this will be the saddest thing that gonna happen to Figma and us end users. Figma will definitely increase its user base in the coming years it has lots to achieve. Selling now will be a big mistake. 😦

Keith_Rondinelli

I doubt anyone at Figma will care what I say, especially with $20 billion at stake, but I think this is the worst possible way to screw over your users and your advocates. As a professional designer that has recently switched from Sketch to Figma, I’m heartbroken by this news. The Adobe software that I am forced to pay for is bloated and slow to the point of barely working on a souped-up Mac Pro tower. Photoshop barely works. Illustrator can’t even pan across vector designs without hiccuping. After Effects is so filled with bloat as to be almost unusable. I will be switching back to Sketch.

With Adobe’s acquisition of Figma. Figma is now dead to me and moving to alternative. Will NOT do business with Adobe!

It’s been said here already but Adobe should use the $20B to fix their existing apps which are full of bugs, slow and in terms of experience with UI like 1999. I am forced to subscribe to CC and like so many others find their support abysmal. They just don’t care. Figma has been such positive influence on interactive design. Within a short while that will be over as Adobe absorbes it into their suite of bloated programs.
