[LAUNCHED] Allow interactive prototypes to be used offline

I’m looking for an offline method for showing a prototype to a client, during a Fairtrade. The last chance will be sharing it with InVision offline, but I would like to show animations, transitions etc… made with Figma. I need a quick solution, so I can’t redo it on Webflow. Same here – being able to download prototypes to your smartphone for offline usage would be a blast. Not having to rely on mobile data when we do usability testing on the road is a great relief in Germany.

I am prepping my sales team to demo a prototype at an upcoming trade show, and the internet reliability is questionable. The reps need to be able to access the prototype offline. From what I can tell, they need to download the Figma app, open the prototype, leave their computer on, and then they can access it when they go offline.

Is there no way to open a local copy of the prototype in the app when they are offline? I’m worried if someone closes the app, they won’t be able to pull it back up. Thoughts?

Designing for a touchscreen kiosk file format?

So without a hotspot or internet connection, it will be very touch-and-go to maintain an offline Figma prototype. It’ll break immediately the moment someone tries to refresh the screen. If I were stuck in this situation, I would ask the trade show folks to set up a hotspot from someone’s phone and/or rent a 5G hotspot that the touchscreen kiosks could dial into. Otherwise, you might need to rebuild the prototype in a design tool that supports offline. Sorry that I don’t have a better answer fo…

Oh my. Unfortunately, it’s a huge prototype and the event is Tuesday so rebuilding isn’t an option. Thanks for the info. I will let them know. Hopefully, they’ll be able to hotspot!

Try my Demo Station plugin. It allows you to download a prototype as a ZIP-file to use it in offline.

You open the html.

Unfortunatly, only page browsing is allowed. You can’t play with interactive components (hover, active…)

We use our prototypes to do user testing during tradeshows but internet connection can be spotty sometimes. It would be SO nice if there was an option to access the interactive prototype offline through the Figma desktop app.
