This feature is not working anymore on MacOS on the newest version 125.6.5 (I have this issue on my Macbook Pro M4 and Mac mini M2). Fortunately, my Windows PC is still working.
If anyone has this issue, please help me raise this up to Figma!

I have been having the same issue again. Around 5 months ago the web browser started to do this to me. So i moved onto the desktop and i havent had any issues until this week with this new update. Its not registering my pastes, it uses my previous copy and paste. its slowing down my and my teams workflow

The current workaround for me is to 1st click on the interaction lines, then select the interaction on the right panel and copy it. 3x slower but we have no choice!

Having the same issue, lately things are so unreliable, basic features break, I can’t sort variants, can’t copy prototype nodes, I can’t keep working with a tool that I can’t rely on.

Same issue here, copy/pasting interactions no long work on v125.6.5 in combo with macOS Sequoia 15.5

I am currently unable to do this now for some reason… something I could do just a week or so ago. And yes, a big part of my workflow as others have stated…. I would setup something like this…. After selecting a component that is part of a larger component, within a component set. Think of… tabs in a tab bar, where the tab bar is duplicated 4 times, once for each tab being selected. For Tab 1, I have it set up to change to the variant where Tab 1 is selected, and set a variable (say TABSELECTED to TAB1), that way, I can have that variable control other parts of the UI. Anyway - I want to copy this and then select all the other Tab 1’s in the component set and paste that same interaction pattern. It’s not working. It got it to work ONCE a min ago, but I can’t tell what I did differently. I’ve tried all kinds of things from hitting CTRL-C after clicking the arrow, after moving around the window the arrow produces, after going to the right hand panel and selecting the click interaction, as well as moving around the window overlay that produces and hitting CTRL-C and no dice. I rely on this copy paste function A LOT. I don’t know why they don’t just have “Copy Interactions” as a context menu option. There are so many missed opportunities in Figma. it amazes me daily just how many usability mistakes this application has. If I could speak to them I’d suggest working on existing, but hidden, or broken capabilities first, before adding new interesting features.

Thank you for this!

Hello everyone, thanks so much for flagging this — I’m sorry for the disruption it’s caused to your workflows.

From what I’ve seen in your reports, this issue may be related to a recent bug our engineering team resolved last week. For more context, you can check out what other community members experienced here: Can't copy and paste images as background fill anymore.

When you have a moment, please make sure you’re running the latest version and refresh the tab you’re working in.

If the copy/paste issue continues after that, please reply here with the exact steps leading up to the problem. I’ll be monitoring this thread and ready to assist further. 🙏🏻

Hi this isn’t working for me, I’ve closed and re-opened Figma, I’m running the latest version and have updated the tab I’m working in and still no luck 😕

I usually select the object I want to copy an interaction from, highlight the interaction under the prototype menu, hit Command+C then navigate to where I want to paste it, but when I do, it pastes the object itself not the interaction. Can anyone help?

Copy/paste interaction is not working in version 125.10.5. I reset and cleared cache. This is a major PITA.

Rick Tilghman

Yes, this is still a MAJOR issue for your customers.  Yes, you still haven’t solved it.  No, no one cares about copying and pasting background images… most of us use Figma to design prototypes, and a core component of that workflow is copying and pasting complex interactions between objects.

The fact that this keeps getting broken (this isn’t the first time) and that it’s now been broken again for weeks is just insane.  This should literally be an all hands issue for the dev team to resolve… you pushed bad code and broke a CORE FUNCTION of the application.

For clarity, this is a problem in the Mac desktop app, it is a problem in the browser version, it is a problem EVERYWHERE.  Fix it.

Hi all 👋 Picking this thread back up.

@Rick Tilghman  @jessica.minzner  @Hannah_Glasscoe  — you're the three most recent reports, and I'd like to get each of you into a support ticket so engineering gets the artifacts they need. From reading your posts, you may not all be hitting the same thing:

  • Rick — copy/paste of interactions failing across desktop and browser
  • Jessica — still broken post-update and after a cache reset
  • Hannah — paste returns the object itself instead of the interaction

Same two things from each of you would move this fastest:

  • A short screen recording of the full attempt — select source, copy interaction, select target, paste
  • Share the file with View access granted to support-share@figma.com

Reply here confirming and I'll open a ticket for each of you individually. You can attach the recording and file link there privately instead of posting them publicly.

Also helpful in your reply: your Figma version, OS, and whether you're on desktop or browser.

Talk soon! — Jaycee
