Hi! I have a list of ideas for improving the Figma comments feature overall (generally pertains to both the old and new UI). Would love to hear what others think about these suggestions! Hope I’m not beating a dead horse if these feedback items have already been extensively documented :
- **Bring back the left/right navigation capability within comment pop-ups (specifically applies to the new UI) ** - I loved this feature in the old UI, and I noticed this was missing in the Figma redesign. I’m not sure why this got taken away, because I really liked being able to press left/right to quickly navigate between comments.
- When typing/editing a comment, don’t submit comments when the user presses “enter” - I don’t like having to remember to hold down the shift key while pressing enter in order to start a new line. I’ve accidentally saved comments prematurely more times than I can count, and it can get frustrating when you’re trying to type a long comment. I noticed Slack has a setting in their “Preferences” menu that lets you choose which keyboard key(s) will submit your message: “Enter” or “Shift+Enter”.
- Ability to create multi-level bullet/number lists - My UX design team uses Figma comments to add annotations for the developers, since it’s way easier to track updates/changes during continuous revision/feedback cycles.
- Ability to save drafts of unfinished comments. - It would be nice if there was a way to save your unsaved comments in some type of “drafts” tab in the Comments panel. That way, if you have to navigate away to cross-reference something related to the comment you’re writing, you don’t have to copy+paste your in-progress comment into a separate notes app/document to avoid the risk of losing all your work.
