Figma Embedding Design File, Not Page

I’ve been using the embed feature to add my prototype to a website. It was working at first on both Wix and Squarespace (but I honestly don’t think it’s the website that is the issue), showing the prototype and frames for a specific page (desktop, mobile, and tablet). Everything interactable and working fine.

But for some reason, when I go to copy the embed code (because I was changing background color and whatnot), the code is different and instead embeds the entire design file.

I have been manually going in to the page, selecting the starting frame, presenting, and sharing/copying it from there, which has worked for me until recently. Now, it displays the first page of my design file, giving the option to change between pages - which I don’t want to show.

I’ve tried embedding from different pages, but the code is still the same

Initial embed code (for desktop home page): <iframe style="border: 1px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.1);" width="450" height="400" src="https://embed.figma.com/proto/pC4Uxv6mkjR0sFI1qABNaI/Blue-s-News?page-id=0%3A1&node-id=4-2&viewport=148%2C108%2C0.07&scaling=scale-down&content-scaling=responsive&starting-point-node-id=4%3A2&embed-host=share&footer=false" allowfullscreen></iframe>

How it looks:

Code now: <iframe style="border: 1px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.1);" width="800" height="450" src="https://embed.figma.com/design/pC4Uxv6mkjR0sFI1qABNaI/Blue-s-News?embed-host=share" allowfullscreen></iframe>

How it looks now:

Hey @mai0215 — welcome to the Figma Forum, and thanks for raising this!

Appreciate you sharing those screenshots — I see what you mean. It looks like the issue might be due to where the embed code is being pulled from. To confirm: you'll want to generate the embed code directly from the live prototype, not from the design file itself.

Here’s how to get the live prototype code:

  1. From your design file, click the Present ▶️ button in the top-right corner.
  2. In the presentation view, click Share prototype.
  3. In the pop-up menu, select Get embed code.
  4. You’ll be taken to a new window → click the blue Copy button to grab the correct embed code.

That version includes the full prototype link inside the iframe and should embed the interactive flow you're expecting.

Let me know if that does the trick! 🙏🏻 And we’ll be surfacing feedback on your experience with this internally to help make this flow more intuitive in the future.
