In the previous version of Figma UI 2, we were able to use a shortcut to select a frame or section and press SHIFT + 2 to zoom in on any screen or section. This feature was also accessible by double-clicking a frame or section icon from the layer panel. However, in UI 3, it is not functioning correctly. Please address this issue.
Hello @Sayful_Islam_Shakib1, Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. I appreciate you sharing the recording of the issue with us.
I am not completely clear on the problem you are facing, but are you saying that when you zoom in, the selected layer is not centered on the canvas and there is uneven space on the left and right sides?
I tried this on my end in UI3 and the method below seems working as expected, with the zoomed object centered on the canvas:
Select the object on the canvas. > Press Shift + 2
Double click on the icon of the layer in the layers panel
Could you please check the following?
Are you encountering this problem on all supported browsers (such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.), just on the desktop app or both?
Are you experiencing this with all files or just this file?
Double click on a layer icon in the Layers section
The object doesn’t seem to center on the canvas between the panels when zoom as you expected
From my testing, it appears that when I double-click the icon to zoom, the object is positioned in the center of the visible canvas regardless of the width of the side panels. And it’s challenging to investigate if it’s a bug or not.
I will share this post and video with our team internally, however I want to be honest addressing the issue you are facing may not be a quick fix and it may take some time for our team to fully investigate.
In the meantime, please use ‘Shift + 2’ as a workaround.
If I overlook anything, please let us know the details.
In that case, it’s great that you’re willing to share a video with us, but if you could also provide a bit more explanation, that would be super clear and much appreciated!
We truly appreciate your understanding and your patience as we work through this.
