Stop automatically adding FigmaAgent to Login Items

This is actual malware behaviour. I don’t care what the app needs to download. I want to be the one that controls when the app launches and when it updates.

Stop modifying my system without my permission, especially after I REMOVE IT from the list.

The Figma agent is still appearing. Figma owners, are you not reading this and understanding your users?

Have to remove this app and use web version.
As long as user can’t control what app modifies in system preferences - it should be marked as malware.

Also, I like the fairytales about ‘fonts loading’ 🙂
Spoiler for Figma’s developers: you still can load all you need on app’s start with blocking UI.
Nobody needs some ‘fonts’ when app is not even running.

We updated the marked solution with the most up to date information from the team.

Again, for visibility:

If you don’t need FigmaAgent, you can force quit Activity Monitor, remove System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
Then, delete ~/Library/Application Support/Figma/FigmaAgent.app & /Applications/Figma.app/Contents/Library/FigmaAgent.app

If you’re still getting the FigmaAgent on restart then you might have corrupt .plist file.
To remove this, try running a Spotlight search and delete system preferences plist from User library > Preferences > com.apple.systempreferences.plist

The file path should look like this:
/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist

You might also want to delete the login plist if you have it
/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginitems.plist

Alternatively, you can click on Go in your systems toolbar >Go to folder > and type in the path name (keep in mind Username should be replaced with your own).

Then restart your computer. These files will come back as new (without any corruption) and you should be able to completely remove the FigmaAgent service from login items without any issues.

This is just infuriating. If I remove the login item (which apple allows you to do in user preferences), Figma should honor that request, even on subsequent updates. It’s not that hard or complicated. Doing this wouldn’t change the default behavior at all for users who want the login item, and it would drastically improve the experience for users who don’t.

Solution for Figma devs (we appreciate your btw):

Incredibly inconvenient, especially for an app that’s all about UX. I’ll probably uninstall the desktop app and just use the browser if this is not fixed.

I’ve just started using Mac and why is there no disable setting for this? I’m moving back to my windows laptop whenever I need to use Figma

It’s been over a year but still Figma didn’t fix this issue. How hard it’s to fix it? Feels like Figma doesn’t care about customer’s comments, rather to make engineer’s life easier based on customer’s disappointment.

Another one here. Just updated Figma and just added again. Removed by hand, next time I receive the FigmaAgent added to your login items, Figma will be uninstalled

Absolutely f*cking incredible.

Figma will be the reason why there will have to be more continuous popups in macOS of apps running and adding themselves to the background. I’m surprised Apple didn’t do it with the “Open at Login” functionality with Sequoia.

Please stop abusing this feature, you’re going to make restrictions for other apps and services that respect users’ choices.

It’s not hard to implement a setting in Figma’s settings to ask whether or not a user wants Figma to open at Login.

The app is not free , there are subscriptions . So why would you allow Figma to use your data and resources … haha . Im also against running any agents on my machine especially when im not actually using the app. Why don’t u just run it when the Figma app is running and stop when it is closed ?? …there should be a good reason too, to have that agent running , for sure , as most corporate companies are using Figma this days and designers are working on corporate laptops provided by the company , so they don’t give a shit about agents i guess … just using the latest laptops only for design purposes .

it would be a good sign of care for non corporate users to just put a simple option not to run the agent if the app is not in use 😉

Horrible lack of functionality here. I just removed figma for the third or fourth time from my login items. Get the hint please. I control what software launches when, not Figma. Outrageous that this happens repeatedly. Real Adobe like behavior from a company that should know better. Please fix.
