Stop automatically adding FigmaAgent to Login Items

I don’t use Figma all the time, I don’t want it to run anything on startup.
It’s frustrating to manually remove Figma from Login Items, since it automatically adds itself there again.

It would be nice to have at least an option to disable it in settings, or even better - remove that functionality at all, since it’s not user friendly. I want control over what and when the apps do at my workstation.

P.S. If it’s needed for updates check - I’m more than okay to update on app start

Hey @Josh47, sorry for the frustration!

The FigmaAgent starts itself for font access & to allow you access to any Figma links without having to log in. If you don’t need either of those, you can force quit Activity Monitor, remove System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
Then, delete ~/Library/Application Support/Figma/FigmaAgent.app & /Applications/Figma.app/Contents/Library/FigmaAgent.app

If you’re still getting the FigmaAgent on restart then you might have a corrupt .plist file. To remove this, try running a Spotlight search and delete system preferences plist from User library > Preferences > com.apple.systempreferences.plist

The file path should look like this:
/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist

You might also want to delete the login plist if you have it
/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginitems.plist

Alternatively, you can click on Go in your systems toolbar > Go to folder > and type in the path name (keep in mind Username should be replaced with your own). Then, restart your computer. These files will come back as new (without any corruption) and you should be able to completely remove the FigmaAgent service from login items without any issues.

Please note that Figma will automatically reinstall the login item when you upgrade the Figma desktop app. The only existing, temporary solution would be to uninstall the desktop app and use the web browser.

Our team already has this logged as a feature request internally, but to be transparent, there are no immediate plans on the roadmap to implement.

I can’t believe you think this is a good solution.
Add a checkbox in settings.

This is quite intrusive. If I chose not to allow it to run on launch it should not reappear again and again every time I open Figma. Malware vibes, big yikes.

Same as the users above, I think this practice is outright abusive. I have deleted Figma and will not reinstall until this behaviour is stopped.

Grow up people, It’s not using many processes and Figma is giving us free access to almost all its features, the contest you looking for is that your Figma agent must be installed manually for the browser and local font, don’t install the app it if you don’t want it, so basically its contest for you there as Figma tells you this Boldy in instalation page.

Figma gives designers the ability to make money, if you are not a designer or you don’t want to say abusive, contest, etc go and complain the politicians stealing information from you every day. not poor Figma which is a helpful tool to you for just your local font. This generation…

Because of this crap, I stopped using the desktop app and deleted it. I feel more comfortable now.

I prefer manually add a font than let Figma start every time on login or startup… It’s really dummy practice to remove Figma agent every time. I agree with people, which because of this small frustrating detail leave the app regardless its free. And it doesn’t matter if you use Figma everyday. I use 6h per day Excel for example. Does it mean, that Excel should start after login? No, never, I want to choose which app starts with login. This is really ridiculous topic.

Please remove this. While I can see the use case, forcing this time and time again on each update without an opt-out option is not a great user experience.
