Hi everyone 👋

With each update of Figma, which occur quite often, the shortcut is removed from the desktop. This is annoying and makes me waste time trying to create a shortcut again.

The desktop is my workspace that I manage. The program should not perform actions without warnings, such as creating or deleting something. It is correct to create a setting or dialog box that allows you to manage shortcuts if it is really important.

It will be great if the Figma developers fix this.

Hey Oleg, thank you for your feedback! Please make sure to upvote this.

I think this appears to happen to me on every single update, actually. @Oleg_Vasendin, by chance do you happen to be 1.) on Windows and 2.) naming your shortcut exactly “Figma”?

If so, then I wonder if maybe this can be bypassed by naming it something different, like “Figmaaaa”. 😅 I think I’ll give that a shot.

p.s. @Gayani_S this might be more properly classified a bug. For example, if the Figma app (upon installation) doesn’t add a shortcut, why does it delete it? Or, if it removes the old shortcut (because it is understandably outdated if it installs to a new location), then why does it not add a shortcut back?

Also, my rename approach could work even if the install location changes; at least on Windows. The reason is because Windows will automatically update shortcuts if/when the file they pointed to changes (not sure how though, seems like magic to me).

Hi @Patrick_Nelson! This is exactly the way I ended up using to fix this annoying behavior). So yes, renaming the shortcut helps, but I had to get this experience before resorting to it.

Hey @Patrick_Nelson, apologies, yes this does sound like an unexpected behaviour, thanks for the explanation! Please feel free file a bug report. Our team can investigate further on this issue and give you more insights.

Thank you for your help.

Alright, done. Thanks for the convenient link.
