Hi Figma, glad for the update so far. I just want to share an idea or you can call it a suggestion. For now we have inner shadow, drop shadow and blur for effects. What about add one more effect such as outline just like in css?
Right now you can only select (and therefore filter) by Library, each of which is a separate, published file. If you have multiple primitive sets or collections within a single library, then scrolling through them to find the right variable is currently an incredibly poor user-experience. Yes you can search by variable name, but this requires you to remember variable names and it does not allow you search by collection name! This is particularly bad if you are setting up multi-brand variable architecture and surely you want to make that as easy as possible right, so people will need more than 4 modes? Overall, this encourages multi-file systems (so you can filter by library), which have their pros and cons, but namely that you can’t duplicate whole projects/multi-file systems and maintain the mappings/connections.
Hi There, consider Dev Mode in browsers.Imagine how painful the endless right-to-left mouse work would be, if the element inspector was hard-left, with the CSS panel hard right… Well, that’s Figma today An outdated concept? It seems Figma might be based on an outdated idea that if tools are spread around the work area, it’s more efficient. But in reality, that’s not how it works because we use the grabber hand to position work next to the tools. So when the tools are all on one side, there’s never any need to move to the far left - drastically reducing the daily grind. Reduce the daily grindPlease allow us to dock the left panel to the right, then dock the toolbar vertically next to it.It takes a day to get used to, but if you work long days, you can’t go back because most of the time, you’re only moving the mouse across half the screen… Here’s a Photoshop example… And a Figma mockup… Spare a though for all of us working long hours on large displays! Hope that all makes sense.Similar req
For many years, I’ve been working as a designer, accumulating over 10 years of experience using almost all Adobe products. Now, I’ve transitioned to Figma, as it’s an excellent tool not only for prototyping but much more. I’ve encountered an issue that might be of concern not just to me, but to others as well. Specifically, it’s about the placement of the two most important panels, namely the “Layers” and “Properties” panels, on opposite sides of the screen. I have a 34-inch monitor, and Figma is open in full-screen mode. However, when I need to perform actions on a specific set of layers, I find myself moving the cursor across the vast screen from left to right. Now, imagine needing to perform 10 or more consecutive actions like this. A significant portion of time is spent simply moving the cursor back and forth across the screen, along with the physical strain of repeatedly shifting focus and aiming at small buttons. It’s an ordeal and a waste of time on unnecessary actions. The solu
Hi, Figma community! It would be great to support dotted/dashed underlines in Figma. In CSS, it’s supported through the text-decoration-style attribute - see [text-decoration-style - CSS: Cascading Style Sheets | MDN]. Please vote 👍 👍 👍 for this feature! We hope to see it supported one day in Figma. 🥳
FigJam should have vertical alignment of text (Top, Middle, Bottom) in the table.
Currently, when copying ChatGPT content into Figma, it does not carry over the formatting. It copys the ChatGPT formatting as markdown, but Figma does not convert the markdown back into formatted styles. It would be helpful for Figma to recognize markdown and convert it into styles when pasting content.
There is a variable option for text strings that pulls in the value of a variable. I would like to an option to apply a variable name to a text string. This would allow my design system documentation to be dynamic based on the changes I make to the variable names. I used this option in Tokens Studio and it was incredibly useful.
Ability to color code at the project level for easier PMO
We really need to be able to create animated components in a more feasable way than what it is now.By animated, I mean animated, not the ‘smart animate’ interaction transition, but classic, loopable, keyframed animation. I sometimes need to show a thing happening in background, which I can, by using variants and ‘after delay’ interaction. This, however, is really wonky because it, for some reason, blocks keyboard inputs not associated with currently animated component. THis effectively locks the entire prototype if a component loops its animation.
Simple and straightforward:I am designing prototypes for video games, that include games that rely on mouse control (strategy, city builders, turn-based) as well as ones that sometimes don’t require mouse control (first-person shooters, third-person shooters). Sometimes a screen does not have a mouse control and is reliant only on keyboard strokes (or gamepad buttons). This is critical when showing prototypes to users because I need to test whether they can function without a pointer and find their way around a screen where only keystrokes are allowed. In order to do that I need to be able to turn off mouse pointer on specific screens, but allow them on other. An example would be an FPP shooter, which normally has no pointer on HUD, but reveals one when opening up the equipment screen.
When I select a single component, I can see the nested instances I exposed (super useful). But if I multi-select the same components, those nested instances disappear.Would be awesome if they stayed visible also on multi-select — it would make bulk edits much easier.
Hi team ,I quickly created a working prototype of an idea with great results. Now I’d like to use the components I built in my design files—not just the styles and colors. Is this possible, and if so, what’s the best way to bring those custom components into my design workflow? Also, can we create a base file of custom components for Make and share it with other designers so they can build their flows using those components? Thanks in advance!
Every time I look for a component using the `option + 2` shortcut and start typing I expect the search input to be focused but it takes a second. By the time I’ve searched for a “Note” component I’ve been moved across my page to a seemingly random frame and selected the text tool but haven’t searched for any components. Wouldn’t it make sense to render the search input immediately rather than waiting for some kind of API response? It’s massively frustrating, I hate the N for next frame shortcut anyway, but when I accidentally hit it when a text input should have been focused it’s a nightmare. The component search issue is by far the worst, but I run into issues where I think I have a text frame selected or a property input focused and end up hitting random shortcuts instead of typing multiple times per day. Please take a look at this, the ergonomics are pretty rough in this regard, especially when you’re trying to work quickly and the app doesn’t respond to shortcuts as expected.
I want plugin to glileo ai to export designs quickly to figma
To improve the culture of design systems, it would be great to prohibit certain components from being detached. Something like a checkbox in the component configuration.
In Figma Buzz, there's an issue with exporting pages to PDF: the selected format doesn't apply to all pages. I select the desired pages, click "Export," then set the format to PDF in the right panel and click "Export" again. However, all pages are still saved as PNG files instead of PDF. Even if I manually change the format to PDF for the first or second page, the export still results in PNG files for all pages. The only way to get a multi-page PDF is to manually set the PDF format for each page individually. With many pages (e.g., 20), this is extremely time-consuming. It would be great if the selected format (like PDF) could automatically apply to all pages during export.
Individually clicking and resolving each comment is tedious. It would be useful to highlight multiple comments and use a right-click menu option to “bulk resolve.” This would save significant time.
Hey! So i found it a bit uncomfortable when i share page to some other department and then they get access to view all other pages. Would be great to give access to view only 1 page by link
The eyedropper is great, but there are a few limitations. These limitations are primarily around using the “i” shortcut for the eyedropper. Problem:Using the eyedropper to affect the stroke is an unnecessarily amount of interactions. If the object has a fill and a stroke, using the eyedropper only applies to the fill. Sure you can click on the colour swatch for the stroke to get to the eyedropped, but if it has a colour variable already applied you then need to click to the Custom tab and then click on the eyedropper from there. This results in multiple clicks in order to modify the stroke colour easily. Adding a stroke - current steps:Select the object Click the Plus to add a stroke Press i to activate eyedropper Shift click a variable colour to assign it Modifying a stroke (with a colour variable already applied) - current steps:Select the object Click the colour variable Click the Custom tab Click the eyedropper Sample the new colour variable holding shift Proposed solution:When yo
As a developer I want to be able to generate images based on the template of the designer. I want to be able to use the placeholders in Figma Buzz to dynamically add images to generate a design with variable content.
In File A I create 20 (arbitrary example) different components that have an icon instance property. File A has access to my Icon library (in another file). So I add all icons as preferred values for my 20 instance props in File A. Now I add some icons to my library and publish the update. Well guess what? Now I have to go through the 20 props in File A to manually add those new icons as preferred value. Imagine this at the scale of a mature international design system. What’s the point of the preferred values feature then?
Migrating over to Figma. Literally found a limit within 2 minutes. In Figma, you can’t end a line with an arrowhead on one end, and a circle or dot on the other. Illustrator has been able to do it for 25+ years. Sketch can do it. Even PowerPoint can do it. But Figma can’t? On the Figma dropdown menu, it mixes up caps with ends. Round and Square are caps. Line Arrow and Triangle Arrow are ends (or tips). Nothing else can be done except arrowheads. I make a lot of wireflows, so this seemingly small thing is actually a big annoyance for me. Has anyone else noticed this?
Hello folks,I do feel like we need to greatly power up the ways to organize styles specially when it comes to typography, specially thinking in terms of design systems and shared styles. Any improvements there are very welcomed, things like:Personalized order of styles per user ( maybe use AI to offer some help ) Nesting os styles beyond an exposed list, menu style with mouse tunnel and all would still be better in cases of more complex systems. Maybe add the another option like in variables: All, In this files, and than add list the sets for user to pick which one he wants to single out. More power here would be very good.Give us options, and I apologize bring this up but I feel like even Sketch at times gave us an easier to consume approach to this. Also:1-% and ems values for variables. WE BEG. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏2-Component level tie up of component variant name to Mode ( Desktop/Mobile), so we don’t have to sync up a component property value to modes every time we reuse one. Best
Hello,At my company, we have an Organization license that allows us to save custom fonts directly in the admin panel. The problem is that my company is a multi-brand company, and its brands change over time.Because of this multi-brand management, the font admin panel is not well adapted to our needs. I need to create folders or categories to separate the different fonts by brand. We currently have more than 50 fonts to manage. When there is a rebranding, we have to remember which fonts and weights are used for each brand, which is very difficult, and delete those ones. Please consider to add folder management, at least 1 level of folder. Thanks
