Suggest a Feature

I work on our corporate design language system and continuously run in to the issue of designers using the default Figma 10px grid when our system delivers components built on a 4px grid. Junior designers do not pick up on this and it is an issue. Is it possible to prompt users to setup baseline elements (grid / columns, size) BEFORE they can begin their work? Or is it possible to setup Figma in an Enterprise to have design system foundations set in all figma files for designers? Note: I don’t see a use case for a 10px grid default; 8px and 4px are the standard for many design systems so why is this default set to 10?

I am using a FigJam to debrief after user research. There’s a section for each session, and within it stickies for key themes. When I export the stickies to CSV, is it possible to include the Section name as a column for each sticky? This would make referencing back to the sources much easier.

I love the Auto-layout feature but is a pity that I need to choose between horizontal or vertical. Why not both? My suggestion is an option inside Auto-Layout called Grid that would allow me to choose the amount of columns and rows and create a grid using a smart layout.

Hello everyone,I just removed all interactions from the prototype by mistake when working on a project. 💀I right clicked on the Prototype page because I was having trouble connecting a section. Clicked on “Remove all interactions” thinking it would hide them temporary so I coud have a better view. I almost cried when I realized all the conections were lost. Why did the system didn’t even ask for a confirmation?!When I realized what happenned it was too late, I tried everything but no Ctrl + Z or Version Story could solve it. I tried to re-connect it all but I had a meeting in 1 hour. Of course I wasn’t able to fix the whole project… I believe it should totally have a confirmation modal or something similar to a warning, it’s a delicate decision for the user to delete everything and from what I’ve seen it keeps happening to many designers.Please share your thoughts with meAlexa

I am faced with the following issue, I have lost all the links to font styles within my file. In order to use the version history to understand what happened and maybe to come back to a correct version I have the following problem: I cannot go back to the a selected version, and at the same time see the design panel to view if the font style has been assigned This is impossible as the design panel is covered by the version history panel and therefore I cannot perform my check.

When flattening a shape and a stroke -  for instance a circle outline and 4  rectangles creating a target. pressing flatten should fist turn the stroke to an outline then attempt to flatten.current behavior is unpredictable. my suggestion will create something that looks like merging shapes    

It would be amazing to be able to have more control over what each seat has access to do (and edit) within Figma, rather just carte blanche to view and edit everything on Figma or FigJam and nothing in between. This is mainly because me and my team are loving a lot of the Dev Mode features, but I’ve learned that it is being removed from free accounts from 2024: Dev Mode is currently in open beta and is free for everyone to use through the end of 2023. Starting in 2024, access to Dev Mode will require a paid seat. Our development team are on free view only accounts at the moment, mainly because we do not want them to be able to edit and accidentally make changes to the design file which we also use as a live prototype/document which is shared with the client. I want to set up a background for a component so that I can toggle different background fills and borders. This would let me set up different states like “enabled”, “disabled”, “selected”, etc.For a rectangle to be in the background I have to set it to ignore auto layout. But as soon as I do that I can’t have it resize to fill its container.I want to set absolute position to 0,0, but “fill” width and height so it covers the entire background and the border matches.Another way to do this would be to show/hide fills and borders based on a property, but having a background would let me create a nested component so I can define all my states in one component, then use it as a background across my library.

I like creating custom components in Figma to use in FigJam. In one of my projects I’m using FigJam to keep track of characters, locations, etc. for a novel I’m writing. I connect these components together in FigJam to create story arcs, etc. I have created a custom character component that has a space for an image of the character, their physical traits, inventory, etc. When I populate this component in FigJam with info for each specific character, some of the sub-components in the main component I need, and some I don’t. I, FigJam, I’d like a way to easily select which sub-components I want to use for each instance of the component (maybe a simple list with checkboxes when I edit a component), choose variants of components (which you can already do), variables, duplicate objects within a frame, etc. Essentially, I love the power to design custom components in Figma, and I get what you’re trying to do with simplicity in FigJam. When using Figma on the web with an iPad it appears that I cannot delete a file. On computer this is triggered by right clicking. Long press works on iPad within the Figma interface but it does not work in the file selector. Instead what pops up is the prompt to save the thumbnail image.  I would like to request that the team prevent a long-press image save dialogue and instead give the option to the delete the file, or create an on screen button to manage file settings.   

hi there :) my suggestion is about when we’re in prototype mode. I would love the ability to draw onto the designs without changing the designs and leaving comments using the pencil tool - maybe even writing as well. I attached screenshots of a super simple concept of the idea (for one person commenting on the slides). thank you to the figma team for such an awesome tool. also; much love to all, xo 

I want to request a persistent page for the notification stack (currently a popover). I find it hard to use the notifications popover menu in the File Browser because the popover closes every time I click on a notification. If I have a stack of, let’s say 30 notifications across 5 files, I have to re-open the popover menu over and over and over again to stay on top of my notifications. Viewing my notifications via the Figma menu bar icon doesn’t solve this problem. Every time I click into a file, the popover closes. Referencing this Figma support article, I don’t see an existing feature that makes it easy to manage my notification stack. To reference another app that does this well, I like the Inbox feature in Asana, which gives the notification stack its own page, and a persistent item in the app sidebar.Asana Help Center

When I merge a branch which has some comments, those comments are not copied/merged/… to main file. Is it expected behaviour or “thing in progress”? I would love to have those comments transfered. So i don’t forget anything 🙂

In my organization often  enhancements of designs are approved while dev is working on previously approved version. Product managers are constantly asking for links of the prototype that will never change - a signed off link but Figma has no way of doing this unless I Have a copy of the file for each version and still I can’t guarantee someone accidentally won’t open the wrong file and change something inside. not to speak of the nightmare of confusion it can bring.I work all updates that haven’t been signed off on branches and when I merge my branch link is dead. - Can we have a link from file history that can be shareable? I’m being asked to provide PDF which really can’t work on a dynamic variable based prototype unless I go through the manual process of capturing myself screenshots to put them in PDF which is painful to say the least.

Hello to the Figma team and forum users! I have been learning this tool over the last couple of weeks and I’m amazed at so many of the features and ideas. However, there is one thing I’m struggling to achieve due to a limitation. When prototyping for some platforms, it’s nice to create a mockup for the overall platform UI (like a Mac/Windows desktop, with a window open), to then use a background for all other frames, which are in turn the contents of that window. Currently, in prototype viewer mode, it’s not possible to keep this mockup frame as a background for all frames. One way to solve it is copy-pasting it (most likely as a component) into each and every frame you want to show in the prototype, and placing it behind everything else. That’s a lot of repeated manual labor. Plus, the frames themselves end up bigger - they have to stay at the fixed size of the mockup screen. So checking how your UI’s resize is harderd. Apart from that, having that background always be visible or clic

First off, I’m loving the new Swap Library feature! Problem Today, it actually helped me discover some “rogue” styles and components that were leftover from an old library! Now I can try to locate those and finally get rid of them in our current library! But wait - what if I don’t actually know where these are in the file? Or even further, what if I can’t get Figma to find a match? Suggestions: The one thing I wish this feature could do is to help me actually locate those rogue styles or components. I tried using the Instance Finder plugin but it still didn’t help because I have to actually locate them on the canvas/file first. ☹ What if the dialog let us force a new style or component match, instead of us running into a dead-end with the None found message. Currently, it tries to match using the name. But that might not always work (like in this case.) Any ideas are appreciated. Otherwise, wanted to pass this suggestion on to the Figma team. Thanks!

I want a shortcut to show and hide / expand or collapse the pages and layers panel. If I got one I’d want the pages panel to open and close by keyboard shortcut. It’s too much work to constantly open and close the pages panel. Overall, I’d say that the pages panel needs a UX review. We’ve now got so many pages that it’s a tough experience, but I’d say that if I could choose a page from a dropdown list as opposed to opening and closing the dang panel everytime that would be awesome. Or, ideally what if when I hit page up or down the magic menu (command + p) or whatever it is called displays all pages that I can search on quickly or use the arrows to thumb through them. Some mail applications to do this today for UG folders and it’s way nicer than trying to find a folder. Maybe use that AI money for things like this and not trying to tell me what names my buttons ought to be. ;) 

Every editor of a file currently can invite whoever they want to edit the file, which cost a lot, and is actually not necessary (for example - designers invite developers as editors). I want to limit the permission to invite new editors - only to admins.

Hi all,Currently, the only way to select a destination for Scroll to interaction is by dragging and dropping the arrow to select the target object, from the component itself on the frame.The selection menu in the interaction panel only shows top level objects. This makes it impossible to select an accurate destination while using conditional interactions for example.A workaround could be selecting one of the top level elements, then manually add an offset.Obviously, it’s really not flexible, because if your content changes, you’ll have to manually change the offset. And it doesn’t work in responsive view. A elegant solution could be to add a manual destination selection, by allowing dragging from the panel to the target. 

Is it possible to disable the requests for seat upgrades in their entirety? We have processes that ensure users submit requests for upgraded seats/licenses via our Service Desk. Figma upgrades are getting missed because users can do it natively in the app. Can this be disabled? Thanks

Please look at Mural to follow their shortcuts. One that is especially important is being able to press TAB while in a sticky to have one created right next to it. I also do not ever want an arrow by default to be added to connect the next sticky created.

Is it possible to have an AI input box in FigJam to ask it to summarise the content of the board? For instance, when we have done a retro.

Currently, when we get a request for a license upgrade, we only have the option to accept or reject the request. It would be helpful if we could include an optional note to the user in that screen with details on why their request was accepted or rejected. In its current state we need to send a separate email to let the user know why their request was rejected.
