Heya, I’m 'loving the high-five interaction on FigJam, but the hand position might be off. In the current version, my hand (white) suggests (based on the palm line, and thumb position) that it’s facing me, contrary to the real-life perspective — or the traditional hand cursor.
Ask: Please consider allowing share links to open in the native desktop app vs. the browser for users who have access to the desktop version. Problem: Often Figma links are shared multiple times throughout the day and in each instance of this a new browser window is opened using considerable amounts of CPU memory allocated to the browser window/tab. This is inefficient especially if a designer already has the file open in the desktop app.
I often place my work inside a parent frame, that is styled for presentations. I would like to link directly to a nested frame within. “Link to selected frame” only allows linking to frames that sit directly on the canvas. Please support at least one level deeper.
This has been an ongoing issue in my current job and my previous job (in Sketch as well, so to be fair its not unique to Figma.) I’m not sure it qualifies as a bug per se because it is “technically correct,” but that’s cold comfort because the font CSS we get from Figma has always been unusable. I can’t convince our website that it’s “technically correct” 😆 so I’m calling it a bug for our purposes! I’m hoping either Figma would consider allowing for some options to adjust its font CSS output, or the community could let me know if a plugin could possibly fix this (even if I had to commission someone to build one for me.) Its strange because the font CSS Figma outputs has always been incompatible with our webfonts, and yet I’ve only found a couple other people outside our company with this same problem. The issue is not unique to the “Motiva” font, we fought with another font in the past and the new font we want to implement in the future will still have this problem. I’m told th
Currently when I hit command + w to close a prototype it is currently shifting focus to the file in the tab to the right of the prototype, which is not the file the prototype is from, which is usually to the left of the prototype in the tabs. I guess it does this as default behaviour for closing a tab is to shift focus to the tab to the right, mirroring what web browsers do. I am testing how a layout looks with a video added, so I am opening a prototype up all the time to get a simulation of what it looks like, then closing it pretty frequently. It feels pretty annoying to constantly have to manually shift focus back to the correct file on the left.
I’m use this (AfterDelay 1ms)trick really often when doing basic smart animations/transitions…Default after delay value is 800ms and I never use it 🙂 May be in settings, or just shortcut button 1ms next to the value fill as an idea…
We have a large design team with many designers/“Editors”. For specific files (i.e. our Core Library) we would like to designate one or two users to “approve” all branch merges into the core library. Ideally, anyone can create a branch, make changes & submit for approval, but only designated users (file owners?) can approve the merges.
tabbing through text fields should only tab through visible text fields. Currently the behavior is that it tabs through invisible / hidden text fields which are only shown for a certain variant of a component (think, trying to tab through a sidebar of items, but the tab function cycles through each sidebar’s submenu … a submenu which is HIDDEN! why would I edit a hidden thing? I’d use outline mode for that!) Wishing you the best, Jamie
All variables changes with instant effect, its not enough. when i make codependent and nested variables (for example variants as variables, i can do interactions with same trigger in nested and codependent sets, to make variables changes with standard effects, but even them working broke), you can do this by adding set variable as trigger or i can made different variants with different triggers and actions in them.
For today 2024 it is very very little options in trigger and actions menu, its just not enough, try to check protopie app, as example of how much triggers and actions can be
Smart Links Usage Add better user experience to Figma Links Every time I click the link, it opens but when I edit the name, the link is removed Allow Edit Display Name and Link Value Better Links Views URL SMART CHIP (and Display Name) Embed Preview in Files for Other Figma Files OR Youtube/LOOM Players. etc
On macOS and Chrome browser, the Command + Shift + 4 screenshot shortcut also hides the transition popup, so now way to get it screenshotted. All other Figma design/prototype areas seem to work fine. Clicking on this arrow shows the popup, but it hides if I try to take screenshot: We often do screenshot snippets to pass info and points around, this is impacting work.
It would be very useful to be able to right click on an inserted link and ‘attach note’ to it. Advantages: → Give additional context about the website (for yourself or team members) → Reduce the time you have to click out of Figma to see what the link is about → Have one Figma link object instead of two separate ones (link + text or sticky note)
I’ve inherited a component library where many master components do not contain dummy data (Lorem ipsum and whatnot). Thus, many instances of these master components exist unchanged throughout many of our design files. I want to change these master components to contain dummy data to force future designers to override the text fields. I’ve been trying to find a plugin or a workaround for this issue, but I’ve either hit dead ends on the forums, or others are not understanding what I mean. Hopefully, I’ve rewritten this enough times to be clear, but let me know if I’ve not been.
It’s currently only possible to use HEX value colours in the Overlay background dialog (open overlay). It would be easier to have a theme named colour instead, then you can change the named colour and all the overlay background colours would also change. Now it’s a tedious process to change them manually and there is no easy way to locate them all.
One should be able to reset all the properties of an instance without resetting the text within the component. Or at least text that is set to a text property. More broadly, any property should be able to be set as a “protected” property that is understood to be configurable on an individual basis without being affected by a standard reset.
The search in file list view is just about useless. It appears to find anything with any of the searched words anywhere, including unrelated projects. What you need to find must contain a rarely used word for search to produce useful results. Showing only results that contain all of the searched words in the same order would make more sense. Or there could be an “advanced” search. There should be an option to limit searching to current project.
As an organization admin with 5 teams, it would be great to be able to see which team(s) a member belonged too when viewing the Members tab under Admin Settings
I regularly create components that allow for easy manipulation of prototypes at scale. I can’t, however, use the “Scroll” to prototyping feature on interior elements of a component. I need to break the component which then removes the benefits of having it as a component in the first place. Could we get it so scrolling to an interior element of a component is an option?
I’m working as a freelance designer and have a paid pro account. So I have a space with a bunch of files I work on. My buddy has the same situation. Occasionally, we work on a project together so both need edit access for the same file. It seems like there’s no proper way to do that, even though it absolutely should be easy to do. We can’t be just sharing a team account since we’re working on confidential projects the other should not have access to. Now if one of us hosts the file and the other should have edit rights, the host will have to pay double the editor cost (2x 15$) while the other continues to pay their license. This sucks! I have now more than once been surprised by a 60$ bill for sharing a file with my friend and inviting two PMs from another project to another file only for them to edit a typo or something, but never really do design work. Again, this sucks!
Hi everyone, I’m proposing an idea of adding a new type of components to Figma, which would have manually/auto restricted scope to one or several pages inside one file. It is often a situation when you have design system globally accessible, but for example a component/variant of an “item card” is needed only for specific screen and you don’t want it to be globally accessible, clogging the assets of the file. But it is still replicated several times and has several states, so component/variant behavior is expected. Important note here, is that the proposed local component should also load into the memory only if the current page is opened - that would drastically reduce memory consumption since globally loaded components which are not used consume unnecessary memory.
While working on a project i realised how TV and Game prototypes could benefit from a more realistic interaction. I was thinking how it would be interesting to implement a virtual control, either directly on screen or via the Figma mobile app to simulate the behaviour, maybe with just the direction arrows + ok + back buttons! The hover just isn’t reliable enough to showcase to the dev team how it is supposed to work.
As a developer I am used to working with multiple screens, copying content and/or viewing the same long file on two different screens to better understand the code. I miss the functionality of being able to drag elements being in the same project but in different screens and I think it would be a very practical feature when designing to be able to add elements more quickly, dragging them from one page to another as if they were files on the desktop.
When designing for web apps, breakpoints, and screen sizes are a bit different from viewports on mobile. Users have the capability to decrease or increase the viewport size creating viewports very far apart from standards. If you were able to set a min & max width for regular frames, you could, for example, create breakpoint templates that could be expanded or shrunk in the range of that specific breakpoint. Helping designers validate designs for viewports range and not a static dimension. You could also include a grid for each breakpoint and change it with variables and the child frame could scale according to the range of each breakpoint.
Hi! In my team we use emojis for project names a lot, and we love that, but we miss being able to order the projects alphabetically when they start with an emoji 😔 Perhaps they could be ignored when sorting?
