Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I am a designer for a marketing and advertising agency. My coworkers and I use Figma on a constant basis for brainstorming, prototype development, etc. and we love it. As an agency we all use Google Drive to store our files, and have the Google Drive for desktop app installed on our Macs — we call it our “server”. The server is live and shared with everyone at the agency. This is how we share our files with one another. It is a pretty well-oiled machine, except for when it comes to Figma files. There doesn’t seem to be a way that we can save live Figma files onto our server, so we have to workaround it by sharing links with one another through a different project management platform. We would love a way to solve this to make things more seamless. I was wondering if anyone knows of any third-party plugins that would allow us to embed live Figma files onto our Google Drive server or desktop? Or if you know if this will be a feature Figma will allow in th
Click to follow feature : when you stop following a user in the file, have a “Return to your last location” tooltip just like when going to a master from a component instance.
Hi Figma team. I am the person in company who create and maintain the shared library. However we allow multiple editors in the file to put their ref in their own draft pages. Problems happen when this released: I did create a complete set of colors and numbers in variable. Then in other designers’ draft pages they copied design from other project files along with variables bound to them, then auto created collections with same name and same variable name. When they do that I cannot know which collections are the ones I had defined for the library and which are the collections created by copying from other files. And how to locate the layers using those copied variables. I don’t understand how much you need this feature. Variables can be published along with library aren’t they? So this is my suggestion: If you copy layer with variables in a library, it should not create new variable in new collection in Local Variable, refer to the library instead. If you copy layer with variables n
Currently when you click a link to a frame within the same file you’re instantly moved to that frame, which is great! The issue is, especially with big files, you can get lost on where you were just moved and have to zoom out to get your bearings again. An animation from the link to the destination frame would help you understand where you’re coming from and where you’re going.
I hope my title makes sense. What I’m proposing is adding the ability to multi-edit a layer across similar layers in a particular variant. For example: In our design system, we have text styles for responsive design (ie: We have a Body/XL, Body/LG, Body/MD, and Body/SM) and when we create component sets, we also create the variants for each breakpoint. So on a card component for example, we’ll have Size=XL, LG, MD, SM, and then the text layers in each of those size variants correspond to the Text styles I mentioned before. In a Card LG size, the body text will be Card/LG, a link might be Link/LG, a button might be Button/LG and so on, in a Card SM size, it’ll be Card/SM, link will be Card/SM etc. The tweak I’m asking for is when I duplicate the LG variant to make the SM variant, when I select a Body/LG text layer in the SM variant, I have the ability to select only the Body/LG text layers in that SM variant, vs all matching text layers in the component set. Note: I’m not asking fo
Right now, when you are exploring your file, you can hold the middle mouse button to go in some pan mode, where you grab and move the canvas. Other 2D graphics software offer this functionality aswell, though some have it on spacebar per default. In my favorite photo editing suite the user can not only pan the canvas, but also zoom by scrolling the mouse wheel in this mode. I’d love to see this functionality in Figma aswell. Currently in Figma one would have to hold crtl additionally to the middle mouse button. This is somewhat inconvenient, because you need to use both hands and it’s most likely bad for accessibility too.
I want to make sure that the length of text lines is accessible and therefor would like to use a character count to set the max width instead of pixel values (e.g. 80 chars max).
Hi all, I’ve made use of interactive components to create some icon buttons with built in tooltips. They work the same as the example in the playground file. The hover interaction itself works fine, the problem comes when I use it in a scrolling context. Made a basic example as I can’t share my actual file: Figma My button is at the top of the blue frame. If I put the navigation header behind this frame in the layer order, then the page content appears on top of the header, which is obviously not something you want. But if you position the header above the frame, you can’t see the tooltip when you hover over. The only way I can get this to work is using open overlay which can’t be done within the interactive component. Are there any plans to support open overlay or something similar to solve this? Or is there a solution already that I’ve not spotted?
I am a person, not a Team®. This is confusing at best.
For none trigger add the ability to create scripts for variables. After delay isnt enough, it takes time to be like none - default trigger Now i have to change color for tabs that have to work like according to the scenario if its bigger than predicted width it have to change color, if var1 = var 2, change color, now i have to made it by myself in canvas, and change everything that have to work automatically manually, and do change color automatically, thats mean if i want to change some screen if its equel to default scenario i made i always have to remember this scenerario and make predicted values for all of screens i made. but what if i want to subject them all to one scenario that i create like default for all the screen with vars in canvas? i can do this by trigger option in interaction window and only for prototype, but i cant make like scenario for canvas, not for prototype, i need to make scenario for canvas, if variable 1 = variable 2 settings attached to the var are changed
Hello. When we switch the theme, it’s impossible to add color from variables to the canvas color. Can you add variables to the Figma canvas? In this case, we will be able to set colors for canvas and section colors and switch our designs accordingly. This will improve the experience and make the design process easier for designers, because not only users need a theme switch.
Make dynemic variables. Like now i have to make constant variables and assign these values to variables, but what if i want to change values in element (like width), and automatically put this value into a variable?, i just want to make from one of element parameter variable and change it, instead manual entry into the data table. I need just make varible and choose what type of variable is it : constant or dynemic (like min - max additional settings), if its dynemic all those variables that i made changing parameters will automatically change the variable without predefined values
(Our client doesn’t allow the use of plugins for security reasons. I know there are plugins for this.) When I want to reset the name of ONE text layer, I can just delete the name and hit enter. This is great. BUT why can’t we do this with multiple layers? We can rename multiple layers by selecting them and hitting ⌘+R, but entering a blank field does not reset the name like it would for a single layer. Idea: I think it should do that. Just let me delete the name and submit the dialog, to reset the names 😃
Please upgrade the swap instance search field in the design panel so it can find text in component descriptions, in addition to the exact component name text. The component search in the asset panel already does this very well. Thank you!
When following a person viewing my prototype, I would like to see any overlays they are interacting with. Overlays are not seen from my end when following, so it just looks like a mouse floating around the frame underneath.
For instance swap component properties, you can define preferred values in Figma. The components you can select for that are organized by page and frame(s) they are located in. I have icons in my project that each are a component which are inside the same frame. Now, for other components I have defined an instance swap property to swap the icon in that component. For this, I checked the checkbox to select all the icons in the icon folder/frame. However, when I create new icon components in the frame, they are not selected automatically which means that I have to reselect all icons for each component that has an icon instance swap property every time I add a new icon. I wish for newly added components to be automatically selected as a preferred value if that component is inside a frame where all other components have been selected already.
like in FigJam, we would like to have music that can be played in joined design sessions.
I find it difficult to find icons or my components when it’s just text so I want the image previews of the assets to come back. It just makes it easier for me to find icons in the panel especially because I don’t always remember what I name my components and find reading/scrolling through so many words difficult.
Since Figma is a great place to do card sorts and organise information, what if there was a way to create an area and turn it into a section? That way, if I had to move a post-it or another object to that section, all I would need to do is click "move to " and presto, the object is moved to that section easily, without having to pan and zoom around the board too many times. This is especially useful if you have a large workshop and lots of ideas to organize.
I currently use Figma to create slides and then use prototype view to present them. However, I have to manually be at the computer to click or press left/right to switch slides. It would be amazing to be able to use a presentation pointer (switch next and back by detecting the buttons for page_up and page_down) and present from afar!
After using the Variables feature for some time, I’ve discovered some problems that could be mitigated like this: The Local variables panel should display the Collection name when Toggling off the sidebar. The panel shouldn’t hinder other panels when multiple ones appear at the same time (auto-arrange windows when another one appears) Allow double-clicking on the Collection name to rename Allow changing the variable type of the existing one Searching variables popover should allow users to collapse the Collection Group of variables in the Collection should display numbers of var similar to the All variables section
The Frame Navigation on shared for prototype view-only needs to be improved. Figma is lightyears ahead in XD but it could take inspiration from how they make the navigation of Artboards much simpler. The logic is hope there’s a page where all frames are displayed and you can search on em and find em, so we do not have to navigate via the prototype itself. It makes the job easier for both project managers, designers, the client and the sales team to look for the page they are talking about with ease. I attached a picture of how XD is doing it but and I added descriptions. In my uploaded image you can search the name of artboard and the specific artboard you are looking for will appear. You got alot of useful updates lately and im sure this will be one of those. In helping those who collaborate with the designer and developer.
In our design system we use design tokens for line height. Example: We see these as part of a “line height toolbox” which depending on context you could override the typographys default lineheight token with any of the four. The same way text alignment is always accessible regardless if youre working with a text style or not. Making this perhaps optional if you have multiple variables/tokens within a segment would be just great. We do the same with letterspacing and fontweight. Up until now we have been using the Figma Tokens plugin which has allowed this. As for now with variables, it is no longer possible which means that we would either have to create a huge set of text styles, or a very annoying solution with modes. Great to see the typography part released with variables though i am slightly disappointed that the relative values are not supported (ex. lineheight %) as countless others have already pointed out.
