I’m missing the list view we have in UI2 - I usually go by the component name which is now almost unreadable when you have all your components ordered by folders and sub-folders. We have many components that look very similar in a small thumbnails, and the grid view makes it harder to know what to insert. Insert menu - 2 different sizes - There’s a difference between clicking the Actions menu vs using the keyboard shortcut for inserting components, each opens in a different size, and both makes it even harder with the unreadable component names The component menu doesn’t close after dragging/inserting a component to your canvas. You have to click 2-3 times outside the menu for it close and even then it has some delay, it makes for a really frustrating rage click. I’m finding myself just click Esc or clicking too many times just so I can get back to work.
We experiment with components in our WIP files as we create our designs. When we move them to our design system, they are now new components and our designs are not longer linked to the one in the master component. It would be great if we could simply cut and paste master components into other files.
It would be helpful if, based on the property labels I use, Figma would understand that I’m creating a Hover variant and a Pressed variant for a component and it would automatically create the necessary flow lines between the variants to achieve that prototype behaviour. Maybe some other common scenarios could also be automated in this way?
Dear Figma, Would love to have the option to group or stash (whichever better) files within projects, this would add a beautiful structure to our projects and could scan through easily. Given the opportunity to even add tags, so we can filter better. This is a pain point because at my corporate company we have a lot of files within projects and it’s very hard to search and scan through. We have multiple teams working on different projects and files and many times there are connections within projects. It would be amazing to add these features and make it less time consuming to search, scan or even call someone to help us find what we are looking for. Thank you! 🙂
Hi, in huge boards it would be very beneficial to only search in the current selection or in a specific section. This could be another filter in the little search filter.
Similar to the way Apple Preview works on OS and iOS, Figma should be able to detect text from imported images and give you the ability to copy and paste it within the app.
In Indesign I can tag a text box with live caption and this will automatically change the text to the file name of any image it is overlapping. This is very handy because if you need to replace a lot of images then all the file names of these images gets updated automatically. Can Figma do this too?
Currently when i cut and paste my designs to another file, or even another page on the same file, the comments don’t come with it. It would be great if comments can be cut over as well.
Any way to export UI design made in Figma to XAML (for Visual Studio WPF) ? Anyone found a way? Thank you in advance with any help! Kind regards
If Figma embeds some kinda CDP or spreadsheet or both into the core product its ova. Variable touches at a bunch of this, but like even further. Gimme rows and columns.
I’m really wanting to hear the AI-based summary as it’s being “typed out” on dot matrix paper.
Like it says, I want to be able to resize components in FigJam and have them adhere to their contraint rules, rather than just scaling in all directions. The use case is that I want to build a set of components for my team to use for roadmapping in FigJam so it’s standardized across the entire group and folks aren’t being forced to create their own, non-standard designs. I know I can build a FigJam template, but i want to be able to define things like roadmap item headers and descriptions, colors, statuses, etc. and then my team can just fill in the fields in the components
Long story short: I really need the eyedropper tool to recognise when I’m colorpicking a transparent color. I used to get around this by copy-pasting the fill appearance (very tedious but not impossible) and pasting it onto another object. But if I need this color to be in my variables and not on an object, the only way for me to fill in these values is to literally hand-write every hex code and opacity value separately. Like I need to have two windows open and cross-reference all these values manually. It’s madness. For context, I’m trying to import my generated custom palette from Radix UI into Figma variables. I have found various Plugins that get me half of the way there, but not all the way. Not even in combination with each other. I have: light mode & dark mode solid color scales for each mode alpha color scales for each mode I found a plugin that will generate swatches out of the CSS that I copy from Radix, but I cannot bring these swatches into Figma Variables with the mod
Hello, I use Rhinoceros3D v7 for anything vector related because it’s precise, user friendly and powerfull. I’d like to copy/paste vectors from rhino to Figma so I don’t have to export/import and create a junk file everytime I want to switch from one software to the other. Currently, I need to copy in rhino, paste in Illustrator (because rhino copy indeed the vector information), copy again from illustrator and paste to Figma, so I’m able to use a vector. If I copy from Rhino and paste in Figma, I have just an image. It would be nice to copy/paste vectors from rhino to Figma directly.
There should be a way to add critical accessibility annotations into a Figma component… for example, icons should be able to be “tagged” whether decorative or not, add alt tags… Headers should have the ability to add the correct markup. Basically, allow for designers to add properties into their designs that are not reflected on the screen… Would be AWESOME if your AI capabilities could analyse a screen and then add accessibility annotations as well… but in the meantime… ⬆️
Hello, Been wondering for huge minutes looking for a place to attach a boolean to a sub-component in a component… also saw people had such problems on the forums… found it but… OMG APPEARANCE? Come on… it should be in its Properties panel in Component Configuration! There are more examples like this - tiny things that make the workflow broken…
I’m currently using Figma with an Organization account, and I was wondering if there’s a way to automatically back up our design files and assets that are stored on Figma. Specifically, is there an option to back up files to cloud storage, such as OneDrive or an S3 bucket? I want to ensure we have external backups of all our design assets.
Problem statement Currently, when following another designer we struggle to find our way back to the work that you are doing. It always take some brainpower to find your way back to your workflow if you work in a massive file. Idea Following back yourself. Go back to your original work by clicking on your own user. I see our team is already trying to click their own avatars, so the mental model is there.
We had to migrate files across different accounts. The only way we found possible was to add the origin account as editor and transfer the files and ownership. Anything else resulted in losing edit privileges during the process. A month later, we get a notice that we owe 15$. During the interaction of adding another editor, we never got any feedback from Figma about that costing an extra 15$. Now, we got a ticket about the issue but, as usual, it delays days to be handled (another drawback that needs to be addressed). Last but not least, even the editor account that was paid for one year in advance is now locked. This is not the best way you can do this. You need to provide feedback to the users when they come across an interaction implies an additional charge (yes, even if it’s somewhere documented). Instead of suspending editors, make the add editor interaction prepaid (like it normally is when you get the first editor), so that you don’t prevent paid editors from using the service,
Hi, selection colors is a really great feature! One thing that could be improved though is keyboard navigation. Probably a low-hanging fruit: As a user, I’d love to go through several colors and change them, using the keyboard. I can navigate the color fields using Tab/Shift+Tab. But if I change a color value, keyboard focus position is lost shortly afterwards. What should happen: I select the first color value field, change it, press Tab (twice, to skip over the opacity field) to focus the next color value field, change it by typing or pasting a new color value, press Tab (twice), … What actually happens: I select the first color value field, change it, press Tab once → Opacity field is in focus, press Tab a second time → Keyboard focus is moved out of the property panel to the canvas, next Tab changes what I have selected on the canvas. I’d also really love to be able to assign my color variables directly from the color value input field, auto-complete search style. But that’s a diff
Color Picker should be on the little color square (wich already is) but also a picker on the right of the value so we could pick it faster.
One common problem I run into, as well as others is adding things to component instances, or changing things like auto-layout direction for a given instance. Right now, in order to achieve for example a tree structure that can grow would be to make sure that the tree items are not in a component, and handle the nesting manually by resizing the tree nodes. This can get pretty bothersome when you also need to worry about other layout constraints, or need to change the spacing for example. Another way would be to have all of the possible tree nodes you want already pre-created in the master component, but this makes it quite annoying to manage, because you’d need to always hide and unhide each tree node and it pollutes your layer view with unnecessary items. I think a solution to this problem, and also likely other common issues with component instance management would be to just allow instances to be modified completely without restrictions, including being able to add items into the hie
the goal is to sync a recurring shape dimension to google spreadsheet for instance imagine a list of segments in various lengths 2,4,6 1.set rectangle width dimension to variable for instance Width and fixed height 20px 2.tranform to component 3.multiply instance 50 times 4.apply a value to width based on a spreadsheet something like that the end results is 50 reqtangles in various size . (i also have an option to import all the various legths as variables. but have not been able to connect the variables/ width parameter to the google sheet or otherwise
When we select multiple files and want to export them, it would be good if it asked us and then gave us the zip file. Maybe I want them one by one.
Currently if I want to change the variable mode in prototyping, it applies the mode change to ALL visible objects that contain that mode. The problem with this is that on the canvas variable modes are not applied universally but on a per-object instance… or parent + child-inheritance. Mode changes should apply the same way regardless of whether I’m on canvas working or making actions change them in prototyping. Also, please do not suggest using variants. I know that would work, but I’d much rather use variables and have them act consistently rather than try juggle both and then also waste anymore memory than I have to. Here’s a couple of GIFs showing what I mean : How mode changes work on the canvas =😎 How it works in prototyping = 💩
