I like creating custom components in Figma to use in FigJam. In one of my projects I’m using FigJam to keep track of characters, locations, etc. for a novel I’m writing. I connect these components together in FigJam to create story arcs, etc. I have created a custom character component that has a space for an image of the character, their physical traits, inventory, etc. When I populate this component in FigJam with info for each specific character, some of the sub-components in the main component I need, and some I don’t. I, FigJam, I’d like a way to easily select which sub-components I want to use for each instance of the component (maybe a simple list with checkboxes when I edit a component), choose variants of components (which you can already do), variables, duplicate objects within a frame, etc.
Essentially, I love the power to design custom components in Figma, and I get what you’re trying to do with simplicity in FigJam. If you allowed me, in FigJam, as a consumer of my own components from Figma, to easily customize the components, that would be super powerful. I imagine this could be very useful in Figma Slides as well (which I just started exploring myself). Maybe a … button in the upper right of a selected object in FigJam that opens a menu of all of the things you can customize about that component, but in simplified way… if that makes sense.
