  1. Describe the problem your experiencing and how your idea helps solve this
Screenshot and sample file below. I’m using an iMac sized frame with extended height. This issue is exacerbated by the fact that this is the now the default view when using multiple flow starting points and is the only way to actually change the flow starting point. So you have a constant trade-off of whether you want to see the Figma controls or your prototype’s. Annoying as hell.

EDIT: When sidebar is hidden, the fixed header is visible but inaccessible. As soon as the cursor hovers near it, the Figma UI appears over the (clickable) website header. Wow…

  1. Add as much context as possible (screenshots, Figma files, mockups, etc.)

Yawn… Bump.

@Nellya helpful patch thanks

Ctrl + \ to hide UI and then copy that link

Hi.

I guess it’s time to Bump this up once again.

  • In the “Share this prototype” dialog, could there be a checkbox “Hide Figma UI”?
  • While this is true just append the &hide-ui=1 to the url query in the share link

Bump, and want to also add:

As well as appending &hide-ui=1 to the prototype URL, you might want to set “fit to width”, hide the UI and then copy the URL. Otherwise if it doesn’t fit their screen they won’t know how to show the top bar again to fix that 😬

This is still a huge pain point. Either move the design down

Shortcut to hide UI is taken by another application on my system. I need to manually open the menu and select hide ui each time. Very annoying.

I'd like to provide feedback about an issue with the full screen prototype view that's affecting the user experience when testing web app prototypes.

Issue view: https://ik.imagekit.io/n88vmharh/Improve%20full%20screen%20view%20-%20Figma_ve9y6-DZa.mp4

Issue: When viewing prototypes in full screen mode, hovering the cursor near the top of the screen triggers Figma's menu bar to appear. This is particularly problematic when testing web app prototypes that have their own top navigation menus.

The Problem:

  • Web apps typically have navigation menus at the top of the screen
  • When users hover over these prototype menu areas during testing, Figma's own menu bar appears instead
  • This interrupts the natural user flow and makes it difficult to properly test the prototype's intended navigation behavior
  • It creates confusion between the prototype's UI elements and Figma's interface

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Would love to hear your thoughts and any workarounds you've found!

Wow,

People have been complaining about this for 4 years and nothing’s changed…

Hey Figma, how hard could it possibly be to NOT have the UI cover up the design by default?

It’s basic stuff.

Hi Figma team and users:

I’ve been annoyed for a long time about something that might be a feature but it feels like an usability issue.

When in Preview mode, the Toolbar menu disappears, but then show again as soon as you move the mouse. This creates some undesired situations like prototype sites’ menus getting hidden by the toolbar and unable interaction with the prototype’s menu.

Example pretending I am previewing a YouTube prototype:
Menu:

As soon as the mouse is moved:

This could be easily fixed by just letting the toolbar stay showing and load the prototype AFTER instead of BEHIND the toolbar.

I KNOW there is a “Hide UI” option. That would be still useful in case we want to show it without the toolbar interfering, but sometimes I send the preview mode to clients so they can interact freely, sometimes I need the toolbar to show so they can add comments and they don’t know such “Hide UI” option is available, and I have to keep making kind of a “tutorial” for them every time.

This is, in my experience, an easy to fix usability issue, but would like to hear if you have the same issue as my team.
