The new tab has become a very common place for me to find myself. Most of the time if I have to open a file, I create a new tab which gives me the ability to search through my files with a single keyboard shortcut: very fast, love it! The problem is that I have 2-3 accounts in my Figma at any one time, so if I need to open files across accounts, now I have to switch to home, click on my profile, change the profile, and usually just press cmd + t again because it’s so engrained as the search file shortcut. Would love if search worked across profiles, or if there was an easy way to switch between profiles from within the tab itself (even better if it could be done with the keyboard 👀 ) Could be as simple as a profile switcher:
Send a figma.on('close') message to the current plugin when the Figma document is closed while the plugin inside it is open. Without this it’s impossible to properly clean up after the plugin in all cases, because when I reopen the document, it still contains my plugin’s helper objects that should have been cleaned up.
I was noticing that Dev Mode doesn’t show if there’s a prototype done for the section they are viewing. I think its important for them to se how the whole interaction of the User flow comes to life 😊

Since the introduction of variables, collaboration between programmers and designers in our company has significantly improved. We want to express our gratitude for this fantastic feature. We’re eagerly anticipating upcoming features, such as the ability to set variables within strokes. Many frontend design systems and frameworks rely on SCSS, where it’s common practice to automatically darken or lighten a variety of colors based on the original color using the tint() and shade() functions. It would be fantastic if this could also be achieved within the context of variables. Currently, this only works in one direction. The tint() function blends the current color with white proportionally, which can be closely approximated with opacity. However, there is currently no straightforward way to apply the shade() function. It would be great if Figma could support this when setting variables. Here’s an example: (key: value) primary: #0d6efd primary-dark: shade(primary, 20%) = Primary color bu
I’m programmatically setting a hyperlink in a Text object with the href property in my widget, Button. When the hyperlink points to a layer in the current file, clicking it from the widget always opens the link in a new browser tab, instead of navigating within the file. However, if I set the same hyperlink on a TextNode layer in the file, it navigates to the target layer within the file. Would love to see Widget text hyperlink behavior be updated to match TextNode hyperlink behavior for easier in-file linking. Thanks!
When using the Find and replace in Figma, is there a way to preserve font styles (bold, italic. etc.)? Every time I use it, I end up losing those styles 😦
Figma should provide the ability to preview a font usage (in a frame, etc, this should be configurable the same way that pixel preview is) with subpixel font rendering (perhaps OS dependent unless something can be done to make an agnostic subpixel rendering system embedded into WebAssembly - which can be derived from existing solutions) rather than the grayscale preview that we currently get in general, or with pixel preview, exporting to a bitmap/raster, etc. This would be useful for previews and bitmap exports for demonstrations, as it would allow for font rendering to be WYSIWYG. Subpixel font rendering often isn’t just a handy thing that is done by many renderers to boost readability, sometimes it is required for readability, and in common programs such as Windows File Explorer, with a font size of 12px and Segoe UI, this text: would already be very hard to read for certain viewers at 100%. This is not even a small example in comparison to the 9px subscript texts you see quite oft
I may have worded it incorrectly, but it would be great if I could choose the direction I wanted an component to expand in auto-layout. Nothing fancy: top to bottom, bottom to top, left to right, right to left-the basics. Right now getting something to expand from right to left is a pain, and it doesn’t play nice with auto-layout. Please, please add this. Cheers!
First and foremost, I want to express my deep admiration for the incredible work you’ve been doing with Figma. It’s a phenomenal tool that has revolutionized how designers and developers collaborate. The platform is intuitive, powerful, and incredibly versatile, making my day-to-day significantly more productive and creative. While I’m a huge fan of the platform, I’ve noticed an area where I believe an additional feature could make it even more powerful: the ability to modify design elements directly through Figma’s API. Currently, the API is mostly read-only, which is fantastic for pulling data and integrating with other systems. However, the ability to make programmatic changes to a project would open up a whole new world of possibilities. Imagine, for instance, a system where users could update texts or images in a Figma design via a web form. This would enable deeper integrations with CMSs, databases, and other tools, making Figma the definitive hub for any design workflow. I under
have make an experiment with a bouncy button, you can see it heretwitter.com I wondering it will be more cool if there any sound effect provided by Figma, people not only see with their eye, but have a ear to hear. Thank you!
Somehow, I would love to have a different icon (or even a different color?) to easily distinguish between local component instances & instances from external library components. This would help when joining a team or project or when revisiting a file after some time. Looking at the layer tree right now, you have no chance to know if a selected component instance is local or from a remote library. Only in the right-hand Design pane you can see if you can click through to the component master in the same file or if it will open another file. My first idea would be to simply introduce a new icon that plays well with the existing master/instance icons Building on this, a separate color for remote components could be even more beneficial, since you could then spot remote components just by the color of the selection in the canvas. What do you think?
Most of the time when I design websites I use FullHD resolution because most of my clients have FullHD monitors. Would be great I there was a predefined preset for frames for FullHD and also predefined prototype screen for FullHD. What I mean is this: Frames: Prototypes:
Dev view generates a link specifically for dev but I generally reference the design link throughout my workflow (jira, confluence, miro, etc). I would like one link that takes users to the view that’s most appropriate for them. The developers on my team pick up the design link and won’t bother going to dev mode, then they ask me for specs. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ I’d like to train fewer devs on switching to dev view that’s best for them.
When pasting text in FigJam, it happens, that the Font is not the way I want it. I want to be abled to change that 🙂 Best regards,reventwork.com
Hello friends, how are you, I would like to share an idea to make it easier to download files and keep a local backup of them, currently we have to go into each file and download them one by one, it would be very interesting to be able to select this from the Figma home menu and also select everyone at once, whether from your own drafts or from the team you participate in, thank you in advance.
I know many users would like to have comments auto-updated in the native apps (MacOS, Windows 11). This is a VERY important feature for team collaboration. Pls pls add it.
I use connectors fairly extensively in Figma files to show user flows in mockups, but often find they try to connect to anchor points on nested components rather than on top-level frames. I find the connectors’ anchor points unintuitive at the best of times, but as a first step I think it would be great to have connectors snap to top-level frames easily (perhaps while holding a key on the keyboard). connectors
I like the shortcuts to jump to flow in prototype mode / panel using the target icon. Can we have similar for design mode / panel for sections? I now use sections to organize my designs and love it… be great to be able to quickly jump to a section. Thanks!
For 2 years I’ve been working with a team, and we created a bunch of documenting tools, like the sticky notes, some highlights blocks with arrows, etc as a components. And we used them to document the designs (Dev notes, behaviour notes, etc) in regular files. Product managers also tend to draw flow lines to connect mockups so that developers easily understand what’s going on. FigJam is basically making the same, but it’s not that usable in our case, because you need to put a lot of effort to move designs from Figma file to Jam, and it’s a hustle to make changes and mockups sync across. And even then, you need to somehow link back to Figma file so that developers can use inspector. Thus, my suggestion: add FigJam as a layer above regular pages same as commenting. Pros: You can draw notes and changes while on group calls, instead of messing with designs (argghh) You can document designs inside the file without the need to push designs around different files Everything is in one place
Hi there! I wanna share my idea about local variables. I wanna create various and unique color or number variables for every component. For example, I created a button and created fill, border, and text colors. And I have inputs also but I don’t wanna see variables that previously I have created for buttons, that’s why I need to connect button variables to my button component only. And button color variables will not appear for inputs. I think it will be useful to link variables to every unique component.
When creating a component set that is inside of a section, all frames when viewed in Dev mode will have the same name. My suggestion is to show the first property value of each instance to make it easier for developers to navigate. In my case Desktop 1920px, Notebook 1440px, etc.
To have one color that degrade with transparency for various use cases
Hey there! It is so good to have a manifest artifact in its own file to extract project manifest from the code. However, when a new update is there, it requires plugin devs to check the doc and update if needed. It would be way easier to update manifest.json for latest updates, if a JSONSchema existed for it.
