Found this thread via Google. I doubt anyone can fix my specific problem, but Make is extremely frustrating. It doesnt respond correctly to prompts and changes things for no reason so I’m stuck in a loop of fixing things only for something else to break.
I’ve tried Figma Make and have struggled to get any meaningful results from it in the areas of my current process where it has the biggest opportunity. Other AI prototyping/LLM tools already bridge the gap for rapid, rough prototyping, exploring ideas, trying multiple approaches quickly, etc. All things that happen early on in the design process. What they can’t do, however, is closely match my designs (whether it uses my system components or not) visually (and quickly without forcing me to prompt it dozens of times about surface level issues). I assumed this is what Figma Make would capitalize on, but it falls very short. Figma Make is the most well positioned to take something I’ve already designed in high fidelity and make a robust, interactive prototype of it. It doesn’t even need to be working code that I can hand to a developer, that’s a different problem. But a prototype that clearly shows detailed (oftentimes complex) functionality that I can use to demo for devs, usability tes
Hey Team,As I’ve been updating a few of my webapps in Figma Make, I’ve run into a recurring problem: the tool generates unnecessarily lengthy and verbose code. For example, one of my recent apps ended up with nearly 3,000 lines of code for a very simple app. When I reviewed this through Claude Code in Cursor, it flagged that the same app could have been built in a much shorter and cleaner way.Because of this bloat, every time I try to add a feature or fix a bug, Figma Make ends up rewriting 1,600+ lines at once. This not only makes the code much harder to maintain, but often leads to build errors when the generation cuts off midway due to context limits.I don’t mind the “complete rewrite” approach in theory, but when the code is always this large and the system struggles to maintain context, it becomes nearly impossible to build stable apps over time. Code maintainability is one of the most basic requirements for any development tool, and right now this feels like a significant blocker.
When you copy and paste a object if there is no available room to the right then the new object should be pasted underneath instead of being pasted in the next available free space to the right where there aren’t any objects
It might be a good idea to either reposition the "Move to Trash" option or add a divider between "Move File" and "Move to Trash." Since these two actions are placed close to each other, separating them would help prevent accidental deletion of files.

The UI tools are awful. They are hidden and move around. Please just keep them all open and static. And please allow for exempting certain elements from auto layout on the whole desktop. - I often want to simply use a background screenshot as a template, but it is treated along with the active elements. There should be a simple way to preemptively (and retroactively) exclude item(s) so they don’t move around! My gosh! There isn't for my setting. - And why on earth can't the sites support many common fonts? Just have us sign a waiver. - The amount of bugs is insane, we can't export html for our own use (yes, we know it's limited; that's not the point), there aren't direct integrations for email systems or Shopify (sure we can pay even more monthly fees for inferior and cumbersome apps, but why? Why not just do it?), the tools offer basic features, but are too simplistic for advanced concepts, there is a terrible learning curve, the loading can be laggy, each step takes like 50 steps. Ah
ui3 feels like illustrator for babies. the interface is so horrifyingly oversimplified and dumbed down that it makes microsoft paint look like feature-rich professional software. everything has been inexplicably moved around. essential features are buried so deep within cryptic menus that finding a tool feels like trying to find the minotaur at the end of a labyrinth.whose idea was it to move 90% of figma’s most useful features into this barely visible menu-thing?image depicting nonsensical ui3 design changeswhy was the toolbar suddenly moved to the bottom when it was stickied right at the top for at LEAST most of figma’s existenceawful toolbarthese design changes feel like they were made by someone who never used figma, or any design software at all, ever, beyond apple notes for ipad.
I’m working on a ‘to-do list’ feature, and we use the strikethrough styling on the ‘done’ state variants of our ‘to-do item’ component. The problem is, that figma treats it as a persistent override. I want the strikethrough to appear/disappear when the task is marked done/undone. But it persists when the states are being toggled. To-do type apps are super common, does anyone have a workaround? I dont see anyone talking about this problem in the forum, so I don’t know if the Figma team is aware of this. For our prototype, we ended up manually creating a strike line with an absolute-positioned line object. Obviously this hack isnt responsive and cannot be used for our ‘real’ library component. It also doesnt account for multiple lines of text.
Hello, I’ve noticed that if I have grouped objects in Figma Slides, that when I am trying to view the distance between the selected object and the one above (by pressing down Alt) , the ‘Ungroup’ button overlaps the distance that’s being displayed so I can’t actually see the distance. Obviously the workaround is I select the object above instead, but just thought I’d mention this. The distance metric when pressing down Alt is being covered/overlapped by the Ungroup button
Hi all,I’ve been using the Figma MCP server and found that get_code outputs Tailwind classes without any reference to Figma variables. For example, if I have 2 boxes that use two different semantic variables with the same hex value, Figma only provides the raw value in the generated React components. My Figma frame setupWhat get_code returns in CursorUnfortunately, this means the model has to guess which token to use from the codebase based on the raw value provided. Here is what Cursor tells me: Do you know if this is intended? Am I missing something that can bridge that gap accurately? Thanks.
Background:Let’s start with what is going on. Last config, Figma launched a new feature in Figma Design called Grid (Beta) which is I think an additional for the Figma Layouts. I’ve tried to look on what’s the difference between the new feature and the existing Layout Grid now Layout Guide (why would you rename existing features?) and all I could say is its the same thing, but with snapping element feature. Auto - Layout (Vertical/Horizontal):A full auto-layout container has the ability to hug layers inside and adjust its dimension automatically In order to mimic the grid system, have to create a child container for the elements either by row or column, depending on your setup Adjust gaps between elements on the main container and the child containers Can add min and max for height or width to control column or row dimension Can use hug to set height and width of a specific column/row to automatic Layout Guide (Former Layout Grid):Can’t adjust dimension automatically (no hugs) Layo
EDIT: This hasn’t happened before but it loaded? So nevermind!Hi there! Is there any way that we could get the option in Figma to remove videos from a file when importing files for a free user account? I’m trying to add in an old project file to my personal figma that someone must have added a video file too, and it’s kind of a pain that there isn’t an option to continue the import and to remove it, I’d need to sign up for a month just so that I can even get in the file to remove it
Why are Ukrainians not allowed to sell their files? We are not responsible for the situation that is currently happening between the two countries. I am a designer, and I want to earn additional income for my effort and my work! I believe it is unfair that we do not have the opportunity to share our creations “for a fee,” especially since no one knows how long the war will last. Please open access, because this is not fair to us as people and as designers.
Why is there a difference between Figma Design and Figma Sites? Figma Design should just give you the various breakpoints by default if you want to build a site. If you want to create a website in Design, just publish the project. It’s incredibly ridiculous that if you want to build a prototype that has the interactions available in Sites, that you can’t do those in Design. It’s also ridiculous that there is a “responsive” option when previewing a Figma Design project, but it doesn’t snap to a mobile layout. You can sort of achieve this with min/max widths and auto layout, but it won’t snap from a desktop nav to a mobile nav. I mean, all the components are cross compatible anyway, and the UI properties between Deign and Sites are the same, so why are there 2 different tools? Why not just include the AI builder tool in Design? What is the point of Figma Make this AI builder is available in Sites? Just do it all in one version…. unless you’re planning to make Figma Sites an upcharge if y

Hey everyone,Just discovered that Figma Make has officially released its Supabase integration—but here’s the interesting part: I’ve already been using Supabase with Figma Make before this integration even existed. The new integration is cool, but it mainly supports simple key-value pair setups. If you’re building anything more complex or relational, it quickly hits limitations. So here’s a method I’ve been using that still works perfectly—especially for advanced database structures:✅ My Method to Set Up Complex Supabase Databases in Figma Make 1. Structure your app in Figma Make.Make sure your app's UI and components are well-organized.2. Ask Figma Make AI for the database schema:Prompt:“Generate a Supabase schema that can be run in the SQL Editor to create tables that support my current app.”3. It will generate a .sql file inside your app's code structure.4. Copy that SQL schema and paste it into the SQL Editor of your Supabase project.5. Run it.If there are any errors, simply paste the
There is an unmet need on high level file management for large enterprise organizations like ours. To keep it simple, we have to resort to using legacy taxonomy design from the old days at the file name level. We have hundreds+ of applications and products across the enterprise spanning every tech stack imaginable. Some share a polished coded library, most do not. We manage and track hundreds of files for product teams that are using different processes.I am sure that user role infrastructure, security/permissions structures, and unique customer installations (for better or for worse) have been a barrier. There is also contending with the existing adhoc favorites on the user level. But some small interim improvements would help.Current Browsable File View Issueshaving to resort to using leading characters to tuck away or organize with the limited organization features and having just a sort. “_” and “ x” having to develop custom taxonomies for grouping in the file name “ (group schema)
In my understanding of global components, when the Main component is made changes, it reflects in all instances automatically, but why is it that mine is not showing the changes?
Hi, I selected a Collab seat when starting the Professional account. I really should have selected Full seat. There’s no way to remove unused seats on this monthly cycle. There should be. But if there will not be, at least the seat selection should be more visually descriptive to avoid incorrectly selecting the wrong seat. I don't see a contact form or email for support.
Figma’s 100% is slightly bigger than my browser’s actual size. Is there a way to make them 1:1 pixel perfect size?
Hello! is it possible in "Scope" to split the value of "Gap" into "Gap" and "Padding". I want to configure "Gap" and "Padding" separately from each other.
Our design system has many components that can’t be edited beyond what is available in the props list. In the past, we generally enabled the “simplify all instances” option for these types of components (things like icons, checkboxes, switches, etc.). With the latest UI, “simplify all instances” hides the alignment features within the Position section of the design panel by default, which means any designer wanting to align one of these components within their design must first un-hide additional properties. It seems to me that a component’s alignment to other components shouldn’t be an “additional property” — positioning components within a layout is the first thing we do, and doesn’t involve editing the component itself. As a result, we’ve had to disable the “simplify” option across the board to make things easier for designers. This means displaying extra layers unnecessarily.
Properties propagation is necessary to build and maintain a flexible, modular, and dynamic design systems. For example, I’m building a TableCell component in my design system, which should support inline editing. I’d like to crate a Value property on the TableCell master component, so both states (View | Edit) retain this value when switched. I’ll use different components to render out the cell value:View mode - Typography (text) component Edit mode - TextField (input) componentI can’t implement this, unfortunately, due to the limitation described in this thread, so I have a few options:Use nested instances and lose the ability to propagate the master component (TableCell) Value property to the child instances (Typography, TextField), so once the state is changed, overrides (Value) are lost, and should be re-entered (manually) for each of the component states. Don’t use nested instances and instead put detached versions of them. In that case, I’ll need to re-implement a lot of additio
