Super slow for me… macbook pro m3 was all good before your updates… please bring performance back,

Thomas_Reimer

The whole problem started a while back, when variables were introduced. Ever since everything has suffered in performance. First, it was noticeable on prototypes, especially when using variables, conditionals, the whole lot. Prototypes became slower and slower. By now, we have to look into other options to utilize prototypes as Figma is becoming more and more unusable.

Now with the latest updates it is only getting worse. No matter the platform, whether browser or desktop app, it is laggy. All files, all components. The more nested they are, the worse it seems to get. The whole “what made Figma so good” is suddenly not there anymore. And now you are even charging us more for less performance from March on.

How about you stop pushing features and actually fix your issues for a while? You are market leader, so we can live without new features for a bit. 🙏

Figma’s growing bugginess and declining speed are making it increasingly unusable.

I think there’s a bug right now, if I open my file my memory is at 6%, I change one tiny thing it jumps to 30% and seems to look into almost every frame in my file according to the memory manager? This used to only happen when I was updating components but I’m not doing that right now

I know this post doesn’t suggest any direct means for Figma to improve but performance and speed isn’t related to a single feature.

I want to keep this thread alive and strong because, to me, the core difference between Figma and previous tools has always been that “Figma is fast”. In 2024, speed and quality have suffered a huge drop and when I’m working everyday I start to feel Adobe’s and other bad software’s vibes. It’s looking like when a tool has forgotten it’s essenc, lost track of their users needs and started prioritizing growth and money above else.

I’m having worse and worse slowness & lagging across all my files. Support’s suggestion was to “Restart and clear cache”, which helps, but I’m now having to do it multiple times every day to keep Figma usable. Library updates take forever (up to 5 minutes for a few components), and it seems like the more child components are in a file, the slower it runs. Frustrating!!!

I don’t know if this topic is still active, but I haven’t been able to use Figma for several weeks now. The frame rate while working is just terrible, it’s impossible to drag a single element without freezes or lags. All these suggestions about clearing the cache through the terminal or changing the UI don’t work and seem like a complete mockery of users’ issues.

Can relate. Restarting app takes too much time every signle day to call it comfortable

Hey everyone! I completely understand how frustrating this must be. Performance issues like lag and freezes can really disrupt the workflow.

Please try clearing your desktop app cache to see if it helps resolve the issue: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040528973-My-files-are-not-opening#id

If that doesn’t resolve the issue, please reach out to our support team using this form: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. When contacting them, be sure to export your console logs and share them—they can be really helpful in pinpointing the issue.

If you have any other details to share, feel free to add them when contacting support, thank you!

I am having the same issue. It's becoming totally unusable - I have submitted 4 bug reports in the last week about this.

The issue is still occurring, it seems to be with the new UI, switching back to the old ui makes everything much faster. Still completely unusable with new UI.

Hey everyone, thank you for flagging this! I’m really sorry to hear you're running into this.

To help us get to the bottom of this, I’d love to gather a few more details:

  • Are you using Figma in the desktop app, browser, or both?

  • When did you first start noticing the slowdowns?

  • Is this happening in one file or across multiple?

  • Is it consistent or does it come and go?

  • Have you tried restarting or resetting Figma — and if so, did it make any difference?

If you're able to share a screen recording of what you're seeing, that would also really help us understand what's going on.

Appreciate your help!
