Nested component instance: how do I keep nested property values across "parent variants"?

Given a button component with some variants for color: … and given a popover-button component with the button component nested into it: I have some instances of the popover-button, for which I would like to override the variant-property for color (in the main component, the variant-property is set to black). For the current variant of the popover-button, this setup is fine. However, when the variant property of the popover-button is switched, it reverts to the initial variant property value of the nested button-component, the way it is defined in the main component. My override for variant property value for this nested button-component is ignored. My question would be: how can I make sure that a component’s instance respects the overridden nested component instance’ variant property override across parent component instance variants? Text disappear in prototype

Bug Description I have built a prototype using components and variables. Specifically, the situation involves one component being hidden and another displayed. These components are linked to another library. The Issue: Text within the displayed component is no longer visible, leaving the field blank. (See attached screenshot.) This issue does not occur on Mac, in Chrome browser, or in the Figma app. However, the bug appears on Windows devices, particularly in Edge browser. Additionally, the issue seems to affect external users who are not logged into Figma. Since this is a test file, the issue occurs consistently (100% of the time). Impact and Challenges This bug has already consumed significant time and resources. The client is very dissatisfied with Figma’s performance, as similar bugs have occurred in prototypes before, making such issues hard to predict. Bugs in prototype preview (mobile browser only) *Edited

I am conducting user tests, and getting a bug when using a mobile web browser. The page will try loading repeatedly and crash. Yesterday the same prototype was working fine in a mobile browser, and at the moment the same prototype preview is working well in a desktop browser. On my end, this is quite time sensitive, as I have back to back user tests booked all week. I get a message that states a problem repeatedly occurred on “…”

Change components with light and dark mode

Hi all, I was wondering if it’s possible to change components with the light and dark mode feature. The use case is in my site navigation I want to change the brand logo to the correct version depending on whether the designs are in light or dark mode. I know I could just change it in the properties panel but it would be nice to have it automated so other designers get the correct logo with limited brand knowledge. Any thoughts or help appreciated James

Form field background subcomponent will not resize when used in a core component

I’m trying to build a scalable and flexible form field input component, made out of the subcomponents (background, labels, right icon, left icon) so I can change the states between default, focused, and error. I’ve built these, but no matter what settings I have applied on the subcomponent “background” (position: scale / R &T; auto layout: hug - I cannot fill container as there is no parent container to fill) when I incorporate it into a core component, the “background” subcomponent’s width cannot be changed. What is going wrong here?

Loss of important work files

Hello, I lost an important file. This document records all my work and is very important to me. I was able to use it yesterday, but today I found that I could not open it and it showed 404. Component Broken - Click to Fix

Experiencing issues in Figma with local components, in particular where they were looked correct for a long time and now nearly every day when you open the file they appear broken across all the screens but when but you click into the component it fixes itself? Tried reloading the file / tab and doing the click into the component fix but next day it’s broken again. Any reason why it keeps happening when it was fine before?

I am a student starting to use Figma to create some html to learn while helping the community by creating some data entry forms for charity. I created the account yesterday but am unable to try this out. Should the school have an education plan that covers Figma for this?

Hanging pressed state with "Scroll to" action

If you create a button component with a variant for a pressed state and add a "Change to" action to make it interactive, the placed instance will remain in its pressed state when an "On click" action is applied. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a component with 2 variants2. Add a "While pressing" action to the first variant that switches to the second.3. Place two instances of the component in a frame.4. Add an "On Click" action to one instance (e.g. setting a variable).5. Test the prototype. Result: The instance with the “On click” action stays pressed, while the other doesn't. Link sample:

changing text align left to right bug

I created a subcomponent with autolayout and organized a menu of images registered together with those components.Obviously, I made it in left alignment and it kept looking like that, but at some point when I turned it off and turned it back on, the components were randomly aligned to the right.The main component remains the same, but only in all instances it looks like this. The font cannot be read in the browser

Hello, my computer is Mac, and my Figma cannot read local fonts in the browser, but it can read them on the client. What's going on? I uninstalled and reinstalled the font program in the browser, but the problem still didn't get solved. I restarted the Mac, but the problem didn't get solved either.

Turning multiple frames into a component instance

Is there a way I can turn a normal autolayout textbox frames into an component Instance, without having to copy the component and replace existing texts one by one. For example I have multiple mobile pages that is not linked to a component as below, is there a way to click all the text boxes and link it into becoming a component instance?

Component and Variable Updates Not Syncing Across Files – Why Is This Happening?

I’m running into a frustrating issue with our design system in Figma and could use some help figuring out what’s going wrong. Here’s the situation: We have a component from an older version of our design system, and recently we updated its structure (e.g., layer organization, etc.). After publishing the updated library, the changes aren’t reflecting in another file that uses this component. The structure in that file stays stuck on the old version, and the only fix we’ve found is to manually swap the component from the library again. On top of that, variables tied to the component aren’t updating either—we keep getting an error saying “Library needs to be republished” to reflect the mode, even though we’ve already republished everything. Our setup looks like this: Variables are defined in one file. Components are in a separate file. We updated both the variables and component structure, then republished the library. I’d love to know: Why aren’t these updates syncing automatically acros

Can’t select text style on web touchscreen

I’m using Figma on the web with an 11in iPad Pro M4. When I click the text styles button with a text box selected it appears to be impossible to actually apply one of the styles. It selects the menu item but it doesn’t actually apply it. I’ve tried this both with my finger and Apple Pencil.

I'm unable to set the mode for a parent frame

I’ve gone through the variables playground docs and everything seems straightforward, but I cannot assign a mode to a frame. When I look at the example docs, there is a mode switch icon in the layer palette. But when I draw a frame on the canvas, I don’t see it. I’ve placed a demo file here. I want the red box to change its red variable between light and dark frames.

Figma Design File dissapeared from project

Hi Team,I hope this messages finds you all in good Health. I have experienced a very unexpected thing, one of my figma design file disappeared from our Team’s Paid Project. No one deleted that file nor someone have moved it somewhere else. Is there’s a possibility for the file to get removed or something. How to get back to free plan after education plan ends?

Hi, I was wondering how to get back to a free plan so that I can edit my files without moving accounts and get rid of the education plan since I’ve graduated now and figma has put me on a starter plan instead. I used the contact forum and was directed here as customers on a starter plan recieve support only through the community support forum and help center. Education Plan Ending

Hello! I got an email notification saying my education plan is ending. I already graduated from my university and I barely use the account anymore. The only case I do use it is when I am mentoring students with my own time voluntarily who are still attending the university. With my education plan ending they will lose access to edit their files. I already applied for the re-verification of my plan stating that I’m only using the account for the purpose of teaching/mentoring the students. Would this qualify me in extending my educational plan on the account? If not, are there any special procedures I should go through to maintain edit access to the files? Will the files be deleted?

Unauthorized use of credit card data

Figma Team, This is absolutely unacceptable. A payment was made from my credit card, without any authentication or prior notification. What’s even more shocking is that I never saved my card details on my account, yet the billing was processed automatically. This is a serious breach of data protection and financial security. What if I didn’t have sufficient funds? What if I didn’t want to make the payment? You cannot just charge users without consent—this is outright unethical and borderline fraudulent. This is completely unacceptable, especially since my card is not supposed to be saved with you. How did this even happen? I demand an immediate explanation and resolution. This level of negligence is beyond disappointing, and I expect a prompt response. I have already sent an email about this issue. I expect a prompt resolution to this matter. Thank you for addressing this issue as soon as possible.
