Great! Will the makeover add functionality to allow for linking/connecting submissions together (Especially if basically the same question, suggestion etc.) to reduce the volume of duplicative posts, see standardly presented decisioning (In review, approved, rejected, in development, live, etc.)?
Hi @ScottDaniels, thanks for your comment!
Our Community support team handles linking and connecting similar topics.
Users can also report duplicate or related posts directly to our team for review. We will give you more information on a new way to do this in December 16 or 17.
Regarding your second question, sadly that’s not coming in December. The initial forum update has been focused on some foundational aspects but we have plenty more improvements we plan to enact in 2025.
The suggestion you mentioned is part of that list and we are currently going through a prioritization exercise to decide what will make the cut next year.
One thing would be cool to see if a suggestion is under consideration, or status of something that is being tackled, we really want to know whats coming next and if it can help us.

Exciting changes are coming to our Community Forum!
You’ll be able to use the forum as normal
Data and content posted between December 10 and December 16/17 won’t be available after December 16/17
There will be a short downtime on December 16/17
Yup, all 3 points are exciting 😃
Apologies for any confusion here —we’ll be sharing more details about the upcoming changes soon.
To clarify, the banner displays important information about the timeline and service disruption that members of this forum should be aware. We’ve updated the wording to make things clearer.
Exciting changes are on the way, and we can’t wait to show you! 🎉
A question!
Will there be localizations for Figma? Like Turkish?
Hi there! Could you clarify whether you’re referring to Figma (the product) or the Figma Forum?
If you’re referring to Figma (the product), it’s not possible at the moment. Currently, Figma is only available in English and Japanese.
As a workaround, you can use Google’s Chrome browser and its machine translation to translate Figma into more languages.
I think there should be more preset tags (or custom tags) when create a new post. I don’t remember which one is missing but I did have a difficult time searching for the most matching tag for some of my previous posts.
Also, I see Figma Forum is available in Vietnamese, I hope Figma app could be so in some day.
One thing that bugs me about the forum is how I can’t comment on an idea or vote for an idea if it has been inactive for 90 days or something like that. Just because no one has commented on an idea for a certain number of days doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea. Please consider revising the way this is handled.
Thank you all for your feedback and suggestions! 🙏
We’re thrilled to give you a sneak peek at some of the updates coming to our community forum ahead of the big makeover next year (January 2025)!
Here’s a glimpse of some exciting updates you can look forward to:
- Improved Search: Find answers faster with enhanced search functionality (see video clip)

The categories we are planning include: Forum News and Guidelines, Product Updates, Report a Problem, Ask the Community, Suggest a Feature, Share Your Feedback, Showcase Your Work, Chat and Connect, Archive
- Forum Clean up: Inactive topics will move to the new category “Archive” and some topics will be reorganized based on the new category structure

awesome, hope to see some improvements in accessibility/tabbing!
I’m very excited for the new updates/improvements!! Does this impact any functionally if the updates and improvements are underway and take effect on the Figma Community Forum?
Our new Community Forum is almost here, and we can’t wait for you to explore the upgraded platform! Expect a more user-friendly and engaging experience, with plenty of exciting new features.
To make your transition even smoother, we’ll have a Welcome Guide ready to help you get the most out of our updated Forum.
🔄 What’s Changing:
Public Profiles: Your profile will be reset and simplified. If there’s any content you want to keep, like your description, we recommend saving a backup before early next year.
Categories Revamp: Forum categories are getting reorganized to make it easier for you to find what you need.
Feature Updates: Some features, like the voting feature, will be temporarily paused as we improve them. Updates are planned for 2025.
Keep an eye on the first post in this thread for more details. ⬆️
We can’t wait for you to explore the refreshed space! 🚀
Hi Celine,
Thanks for the updates, it’s exciting!
Just curious: are you switching platform or will you keep using Discourse? If you’re switching, will it be bespoke or will it rely on another open source project?
Hey @Jonathan_Berger , thank you for your question!
We’re changing platform to something that is not open source to better support our community’s needs. While we can’t share specific details at the moment, we’re excited about the improvements ahead. Stay tuned!
Hey everyone, we’re almost there! 🎉
In just 5 days, you’ll be able to explore our refreshed Community Forum with improved navigation and new features to enhance your experience!
We’ve updated the first post in this thread with the latest updates (🗓️ Downtime & Data Availability). Be sure to check it out to stay up-to-date on all the details! ⬆️
🚨LATEST UPDATE 🚨
Hey everyone!
Please note that we’ve decided to postpone the updated Community Forum launch to the new year (first or second week of January) to ensure a smooth user experience. Taking this extra time will help us address technical challenges and avoid holiday disruptions.
We’ll confirm the exact date soon!
In the meantime, feel free to continue posting in this topic your feedback and ideas to improve the forum - we will add it to our list for 2025.
A post was split to a new topic: Access AI Feature
Fantastic!
I’m looking forward to seeing new changes.
I have one recommendation about the threads, I’ve seen that it seems to be hard for people to mark some replies as “Solution”, the button is hidden in the “3 dots” menu. for tracking the right answer, it would be much better if it was more like StackOverFlow’s system, not sure if the up/down vote system is better than the liking system, but other than that, the voting/likes and marking as a solution (by the creator of the thread) can be more accessible in the view.
Congrats team on all of these upcoming improvements! I know this has been a long time coming and there’s been a ton of work that’s gone into it behind the scenes. Excited for the launch in the new year! 💜
Thank you @Josh ! 💓
🚨 Everyone, we’re excited to announce that the updated Community Forum will officially launch on January 8th! 🚨
Here’s additional information you need to know:
Downtime & Data:
From January 2nd at 5pm ET until January 8th at 10am ET, the forum will be accessible as usual, but any new posts, likes, or registrations WILL NOT carry over after a brief downtime on January 8th (8am-10am) ET.
Please also check the first post of this thread for additional information ⬆️
I’m really looking forward to an improved category structure! I hope it’s not too far-fetched to read into this as “more categories with more specificity.” Eg:
- prototyping
- design systems
- component architecture
- variables & tokens
- dev mode
- ideation
- auto layout
- sharing designs
- administration
I recognize the team has already set plans, but figured I’d share a little brain dump list for the fun of checking back in post-launch and seeing how close (or far) I was on what the new categories will be.
Cheers team!
Hi Alice,
Thanks for posting your thoughts on the category structure.
In the forum update you’ll get to experience in January 2025, we chose to simplify the category structure.
The specificity you are looking for can still be accomplished via the tagging system.
These are areas (category structure and tagging system) that I predict we will revisit often as our community evolves and the different audiences navigate through the forum.
Your feedback is welcome and has been noted - maybe one day your “little brain dump list” gets closer to the structure implemented. 🙂
I hope you are enjoying the Festive Season and enter the New Year on both feet (i.e. with double luck). 🎆
Hey everyone,
