All the semantic variables are just hex values the reference colors (primitive palette) are stored in STYLES instead of variables The semantic roles are doubled both in the vairables and the styles the components themselves consume the styles instead of the variables The option to generate the color table is not a checkbox like the documentation claims. its just a link to the plugin page? I just want a simple monochrome app with one accent color for my CTA. VERY standard stuff. I don’t want this weird multicolor rainbow library that gives me PINK cards. What is going on???…. It’s a literal nightmare. I can’t see how to use or customise it systematically, or why any of these decisions were made. Is there anybody here who has successfuly used it and actually understands how it works??
Hey,I just found through this video https://youtu.be/GbfUHfCocIY?t=802 that’s possible to change images by changing variable modes. At some point in the video (minute 18:17) we can see a string variable “Team ID” which is probably what he’s using in the images properties. But we don’t manage to see how he’s applying it.First of, I can only apply the variable to an instance, not the actual component. I tried to do that and then from that instance create a new component, it does seem over engineered, but it does work. However I have an issue where if I change the mode once, it works, but if I try to change again it doesn’t work.So I’m not sure what would be the right way to replicate what’s in the video.Any thoughts?
I’m currently working with the Figma API and trying to retrieve data from a specific branch within my file. While I’ve identified the branch ID from the URL (e.g., https://www.figma.com/design//branch//...), I haven’t found any documentation indicating how to dynamically call or access branches using the API.Here are my questions:Is it possible to query a list of available branches or fetch branch-specific details using the Figma API?How can the branch_id parameter be utilized correctly in API requests, and are there any specific configurations required to access branches? Are there limitations or additional permissions needed to retrieve branch-specific content? For reference, I’m trying to execute the following API call with the branch_id parameter:https://api.figma.com/v1/files/?branch_id=I would greatly appreciate your guidance on this functionality or any alternative approaches to access branch-specific data programmatically. Thanks
I’m trying to make a table with these parameters:4 columns Individual cells in columns 1–3 (like “expected shipment date”, expected delivery date”...) The table has to stretch horizontally proportionally with content always staying in its columns Columns 1–3 are grouped with the borderI don’t see how this is achievable in an adequate way. The way I did it now is having a second table underneath just for borders for columns 1–3 (“table 2” layer). With one layer it’s only possible to:Sacrifice grouping columns 1–3, then each cell will have it’s own border. Sacrifice stretching, then you can just adjust the cell’s border. Group columns 1–3 and use auto-stretching auto layout inside, but columns won’t stretch proportionally.Do you see any way to achieve that? The table“Table 1” layer (with content and individual cells)“Table 2” layer (with the border 1–3 columns border)Also attached the recording of how it’s stretching. It’s working, but like I said the second layer adds complications.
Hey all, I’m just getting round to investigating the native variable export options and have a question relating to $extensions .How relevant is this information outside of the Figma ecosystem? If I was to export this and add this to my GitHub Repository, should this just be something that I remove, and if so is there a way to exclude this from the export at all?If I understand correctly, that information is possibly only meant for importing into another file, but I just wanted to validate that assumption before hand. Some example code below to illustrate:"green": { "500": { "100A": { "$type": "color", "$value": { "colorSpace": "srgb", "components": [ 0.13333334028720856, 0.5254902243614197, 0.3960784375667572 ], "alpha": 1, "hex": "#228665" }, "$extensions": { "com.figma.variableId": "VariableID:5809:5642"
We are currently not using variable modes, because our developers don’t get a clear enough inspection experience in Dev Mode.I would like to ask all of you 2 things:1. Do you know a solution that makes variable modes more explicit in Dev Mode?2. Can anyone please share how the new extended collections feature looks like when inspecting in Dev Mode? I want to know if it gives the developers a better experience there…Thank you in advance :)
I’ve noticed uncomfortable lags when I share my screen via MS Teams and present something in Figma Desktop. It feels like fps drops drastically - from 60 to around 15-20. Mouse hover feedbacks with a noticeable delay. These lags I started notice after updating to macOS Sequoia. My setup: Macbook Pro 2021 M1 Pro with 32GB RAM, macOS Sequoia 15.0 External monitor HP Z27 connected via usb-c thunderbolt Figma Desktop 124.4.7 MS Teams for mac Version 24244.507.3125.3475 I started investigating to identify the root cause and so far I figured out the next: The issue is only with Figma Desktop and MS Teams mac app. If I use Figma in browser or MS Teams in browser, everything is smooth. The issue is more noticeable with UI3. When I switch back to previous UI, it works much smoother, however not perfect and smooth as without sharing. When I share the internal Macbook screen the issue is less to not noticeable. At least there is a difference. I tried different thunderbolt cables, no difference
Trying to create hamburger menu that opens a popup menu in Figma Sites, nothing works. please help!
Hi everyone, I’m currently working on an ecommerce website project and would love to get some community insights. As online shopping continues to evolve rapidly, I’m interested in learning:What are the most essential design elements for a high-converting ecommerce website? Which UI/UX trends should we prioritize in 2026 (product pages, cart flow, search)? How do you balance performance with rich visuals on ecommerce platforms? What tools, frameworks, or plugins do you recommend for responsive ecommerce design? Any examples of Figma ecommerce templates or components that have worked well?I’m especially interested in real-world examples, recommended workflows, and tips on optimizing checkout flows for better conversion rates.Looking forward to your ideas and resources!
I have used 3 different libraries in my page and have kept everything updated. The components I used in my work files are auto updating and somehow changing schemas and sizes without me or my team touching them. I am not able to track these as well on what has changed. Some frames which are marked for dev have changes as well and we dont have any notice or indication of this. Am I going wrong somewhere or is this a bug from figma?I looked at the history and I dont see any one touching anything.
The problem is that I ran out of space in my email, so the letter wasn't sent. I freed up some space, but the letter still hasn't arrived. How can I get a link to restore the team again? support hasn't responded to me for 24 hours
Why does the slice tool move everything out of the way instead of sitting on top of what you want to slice? It does this even if I’m on the top frame. Coming from adobe I’m completely lost as to why this functions like this. The goal here is to get half of a section exported. Is there another way to do this?
Hello. We are looking for a way to create banners at scale in various sizes (ex. 300x250, 250x250, 970x250). The solution right now is that we are using a Component that we copy over all the banners. And that works for one single set. The trouble shows up when we try to have 2 (Master) Components within the same file. Basically Component A (image) drives many banners. But if we copy Component A (image) to become Component B (image), the connects to its associated banners are lost. Can this be done in Figma - directly? Or Buzz? Or using a plugin? Thank you.
Hi everyone,I’m working on a design case study for a client and I need to create a key visual and then adapt it into at least 10 different digital ad formats (Instagram feed, stories, reels, YouTube banner, email header, display ads, etc.). I’d like to automate this process in Figma using Auto Layout + Variables, so that when I update the main KV (texts, colors, images), all other formats adapt automatically.I already know the basics of Auto Layout, but I’m not sure how to structure the file to make it scalable and avoid manually adjusting every format.Do you have any tips, workflows, or even free plugins/templates that could help me speed this up?Thanks a lot 🙏
I want to use a pen tablet in Figma Design. It basically works out of the box. The `Pencil` tool supports pen pressure, but how can I disable this?I want always to draw with a fixed width (like when I use a mouse). For example, in Photoshop, we can easily disable pen pressure from brush settings.
when paste image in Figma firefox browser. firefox showing “Paste” button Can anyone tell me how to stop this?
I am on a free plan but would like to publish my site. I only need a basic starter package. How do I do this?
Hi, well I have issue in my icon library that some icons are not changing colors when using them in other files/projects. I know that fix is to do CTRL+E and publish library but I have several hundred icons and that’s not possible because If I select all of them and click CTRL+E it will merge them. Is there some other fix ? I know that color not changing is known Figma bug.
Hi everyone! Can I resize components and elements with autolayout enabled? I need to adapt a desktop wireframe for a tablet, but I don't know how to do it.
Has the “Rasterize Selection” option been removed? The old instructions say to find it under the Object menu but I can’t see it there on my end.
Since Feb 12th, Make was loading a blank canvas with no error message. The layout UI appeared but the preview area stayed empty. In DevTools I could see realtime connections established but no data coming through. Later the behavior changed — now it shows “Couldn’t load Make” and the request: /api/make/fetch_ds_code_gen_status returns 400 Bad Request. Important observations: Figma Design works perfectly (multiplayer + editing OK) Only Make is affected Happens across multiple browsers and devices (Mac + iPad) Same behavior on different networks (home Wi-Fi and mobile hotspot) Clearing cache, reinstalling browser, disabling extensions, and logging out/in did not help Network requests are no longer failing — the backend seems to refuse initializing the Make runtime This started after a connection interruption while Make was loading It feels like the Make runtime session on the server side got stuck in an invalid state and now every client is blocked from initializing it agai
Hi everyone,I’m working on a dashboard UI where I have a text element with two states: Default → simple text view Editing → the text appears inside an input field These two states are created as variants in a component set.I also have an Edit button, but it is located outside of this component. I’m trying to prototype the interaction so that when the Edit button is clicked, it changes the state of that separate component from Default to Editing. What is the best way to prototype this interaction in Figma? Thanks in advance.Belal.
Hi,I made a website in Figma. I shared it with my collegue developer but he can’t export. He sees the file but he doesn’t see the export panel. I’m a newbie to Figma so I hope someone can help. I have tried various options.First option I tried was to share it through the share panel while my design is in my drafts. Sharing by e-mail invite and by just sending a link. The option: viewer can copy , save and export form the file is checked Second option was adding my design to my team. I’ve invited him to my team. I gave him a developers suite and later also a full seat. While paying 27 Euros it still doesn’t work. Last option we’ve tried is sending him the file. Now he can export but also can change the whole design as he is allowed to do everything such as move objects, changing colours etc… What am I missing here and I am doing wrong? Hopefully someone know the problem. Kind regards,Jeff
I am trying to connect the supabase photo bucket property to Figma Make, but everytime I go to upload an image, this came up
