Is there a method for setting/assigning a range of text to a variable? I noticed that even the setRangeBoundVariable(start, end, type, variableId) doesn’t support “color” for the type. Something like: figma.currentPage.selection[0].setRangeBoundVariable(0, 5, 'color', 'VariableID:313:879') Which would then apply that variable to text characters 0-5.

I need to display characters in the Khmer language but when I paste them in a text box the box gets bigger but the characters do not appear. I have installed the Figma agent and that has made my desktop fonts available in Figma. I have no trouble with Arabic and Bengali. I want to display មោទនភាព How can I make this work? Thanks, Jim

Hi. I tried to install Figma on a new pc. First time, c++ installer appeared. I installed it but then – nothing. Now, after double click on Figma instller, cmd appears for like 1-2 sec. Then dissapears and nothing happens anymore. For now i tried restarting the pc but it won’t help. Any ideas?

This is usually noticeable at larger font sizes. I contacted support more than half a year ago, but there is still no change. What is the problem (image 1): This example shows the text layer. The font size is large, but the size of the text layer itself should allow the word “Athena” to be highlighted in the frame below. Also, the text itself (which is above the frame) is not on top of the frame and does not interfere in any way with selecting the item I want. But that’s just the way it looks. There is no way to actually select it. Not even by pressing Ctrl/Command. In this situation I can select the word “Athena” in 3 ways: By moving the layer with large text, which overlaps the layer I need (although visually I can’t see it). By finding the layer I need in the Layers panel. By moving the layer that prevents me from selecting the layer I want back. This is inconvenient and confusing for me as a user. Hi there, I am looking for a solution to create a double sticky navigation. The first navigation should be sticky and the second navigation should scroll until it touches the first navigation. Hi, I have a single seat paid professional subscription with Figma. However, there’s no variable hexagons in my right panel in one of my files. I can create variables in the Local Variable panel. It’s just I don’t see any hexagons to assign them to. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Now there is an additional action to be taken: When I want to change the size of the text area, I now have to first click on the “Auto height” tab and only then enter the required value in the corresponding field. Previously it was possible to do it just by clicking on the input field, even if the text area was in “Auto width” mode. Why was this done? Imagine how many times a day you have to do these additional operations now.

Hi, Sorry, if this is already discussed in some form here - couldn’t find anything about it. I have a client, to whom I would like to pass on the design file, but it seems that the only way to do this, is to give them ‘edit’ rights – becoming a part of my team, that I have to pay for one month membership (seat) – and then, under their Figma workspace ‘recents’, move the design file to their teams space. It feel like a hack approach and the payment is totally unnecessary step, as the client will just need the file to be ‘moved’ to their team, nothing else. Doesn’t seem to be fair to be charged for this by Figma. I might do something wrong here, but searching around, this seemed to be the only way. I’m sure there are other freelancers, who have had something similar. Is there a better, charge-free, alternative to this? Thank you! 🙏

Let’s say you want to update all the color styles in a shared design system library that looks something like this: Primary-Blue-1 Primary-Blue-… Primary-Blue-10 Secondary-Green-1 Secondary-Green-… Secondary-Green-10 Neutral-Gray-1 Neutral-Gray-… Neutral-Gray-10 Etc… You now want to update the color values for the above, and you have the new values as local styles. The local styles may be named differently. Let’s say for example: NewBrandBlue-Lightest NewBrandBlue-… NewBrandBlue-Darkest NewBrandGreen-Lightest NewBrandGreen-… NewBrandGreen-Darkest … and so on. We all know how cumbersome it is to manually edit many color styles in Figma without plugins, but I haven’t yet found a plugin that would make this process easier either. Anyone have any recommendations on a process and/or plugin that would make this a bit easier? I have some Adobe fonts correctly installed to my system through creative cloud and I’ve installed them manually too, but when I open up Figma I’m still seeing that one I need to use shows up as missing. I did see that some are showing up correctly through the Installed by Me. What else can I do to ensure it is working correctly?

Hi! I was wondering if there is a solution for this: I have an Instance with 5 properties. The Main Component of this Instance is missing. How do I turn the Instance into a main Comp again without (!) loosing the properties. Of course I can just click on “create component” but that will just nest the instance in a sub-layer (and by that the properties of the redone Main Comp will not show the properties in the Prop Panel) Thanks!

I’ve downloaded a new version of Inter from the website itself. For some reason, the one that appears in Figma is the old version from Google Fonts. I want to use the new version of Inter because the italics are better than the Google Fonts’ version. Here’s the comparison between the two (bottom is old, top is new): I tried following the guide for managing conflicting fonts, but it yields the same results. Is there a workaround for this?

Hi fellow designers, I’m facing an issue with a Text Area I borrowed from the Polaris Design System. I’ve customized it, but a link/text remains attached to a frame that isn’t a component. Does anyone know how this is possible and have suggestions on how to remove the link? I’ve looked everywhere and can’t seem to figure it out. Thanks in advance!

We’ve been exporting png images through Figma’s API and we noticed our image file sizes changed around the start of May. Upon investigation, it showed that the images have the color profile metadata removed. Recently (around 2 weeks ago), we noticed the color profile came back resulting in more file size changes. We haven’t been able to verify if this is something that we updated within our project or if this was a result of some changes with Figma and/or their API. We tried playing with the Figma color space setting but didn’t see that having any effect. Curious if anyone else has seen similar behaviour or knows what could be causing this?

Howdy 👋 One of the initiatives in DesignOps at my company is to improve quality of design. As part of this work, I’m trying to make it as easy as possible for designers to record design debt in a systematic way and have a neat way to the prioritise and clear that debt. I’ve built a proof-of-concept that allows anyone to add a #designdebt comment in Figma and have it create a corresponding debt record in our Design Team Airtable. From here, they can enrich the debt with additional information, categorise it and assign it. The issue I have is that this is made using Figma webhooks (via Julian Pfeil’s Webhook Configurator plugin) and a webhook seems attached to a single team - Does anyone have any suggestions for a way to elegantly handle this across all existing and future teams? We’re a large org with more than 60 teams and I don’t want a webhook (and corresponding Airtable automation) per team. Does anyone know how I can scale the header tagline for my website to be responsive in Figma? I’m creating the desktop version right now and while the headline looks good on Macbook 16" inch, the typography gets cut off on smaller desktop versions like Macbook Air. I tried adding an auto layout to the parent frame so I could choose “fill container” for the headline, but then it messes up the responsiveness of my background video for the frame. Does anybody know how I can make my headline responsive? For clarity, I have the headline in the center of the home landing page at 90 pixels.

Hello community, I’ve been experimenting with a conditional prototype and encountered an issue where my “else” statement is not being executed. I suspect I might be missing a step. Here’s my scenario: I have a checkbox component. When checked, the pricing should increase by $20, and when unchecked, the $20 should be deducted. Here are the steps I followed: Created a boolean variable for the checkbox. Created a number variable for the pricing. When I check the checkbox, the conditional prototype works as expected, and the pricing increases by $20. However, when I uncheck the checkbox, the “else” statement does not execute.
