I m unable to find this control in the newer UI 3

Hello! I was making a presentation in Figma and was surprised how heavy it was after exporting in PDF. After checking everything and methodically deleting different parts of the content from the slide, I found that the heaviest part was the text! For example, one 1920*1080 slide with several text blocks exports into over 6 Mb PDF. If I copy everything on a different slide, it weights the same. But if I create a new slide and new text blocks and type that text manually all over again - the PDF size drops to about 600 Kb. So the problem is definitely with those text blocks. Any ideas why is this happening and how to fix it? Retiping the whole thing would be a major pain. It is over 200 slides.

I tried a lot of things and i’m going to be crazy. I created this component: The icon inside the button is itself a component with multiple icon variants. If i switch the variant inside the main component to change the icon everything is going ok: Now if i create an instance of the same component and try to do the same, here is what happens: Is there anyone that can help me to understand what’s wrong? I suspect that this is not how variable modes were intended to be used, but it would really simplify my prototype. Would love to hear some on how to enable this from the community, too. My screen has several strings that are supposed to be dynamic based on navigation. The user should be able to navigate between screens using right/left arrows on the bottom, and these strings would change dynamically. I was hoping to have one variable per “screen” and use modes as fields. More or less how you would have in a database. So, on my designed screen in Figma, different text layers are set to different modes: This way, I only need to set one variable via interactions to potentially change all the strings on the screen. When I change the “current” presented variable in Design mode, it works as expected. However, the prototype mode seems to reset the variable mode to default. I’ve created a lot of button sets over the years and using variants + base components is definitely the way to go! Here is my process: Step 1 Create a base component for each button size (e.g. “Large”) and icon placement (e.g. “Right Icon”), name it “Base” and turn it into a main component. Step 2 Add multiple instances of each base component and apply overrides to create unique types (e.g. “Secondary”) and states (e.g. “Hover”). Step 3 Turn every unique instance into a main component, select “combine as variants”, and rename variant properties & values. Dear all, Created an animation using a component with variants. However, running into these two issues: The images fade out to white and then pop up. The image on the far left moves along a strange path, it should move directly to the right. I have taken care with the naming so that Figma can animate to components with the same name. My fonts went blank after updating Figma. I see them only in Outline mode and in Preview mode they are invisible

Hello, I have an interesting issue. I created an interactive component with variants. So I go to assets and insert the component into a frame. Now I go to present mode and the component is not working. I then published the component and created a new designfile where i insert the component from the assetspanel into a frame and want to test it again. And now it works. How is that possible? It drives me nuts. The component only works in a designfile where it was not created. thank you very much in advance!

So how to use fonts with Figma’s desktop app on Windows, when those fonts are not temporarily installed? Apparently Figma loads them from the Windows Fonts folder. Font managers, however, load fonts temporarily and somewhere else from what I see. I’ve never had this issue with other programs such as Adobe Illustrator, but with Figma fonts just don’t load, the whole app works differently. Again, desktop/installed version.

in order to maintain history and traceability in our development process, I’d like to generate evergreen links to branched designs that are then used in Jira and other documentation tools. are there limits or performance concerns that could prevent this from being feasible long-term?

When I use the Pen tool to draw shapes within a frame, Figma doesn’t acknowledge that I’m drawing within a frame and instead places the newly drawn object as the top layer. This interaction isn’t consistent with other drawing tools, such as the Ellipse or Rectangle tool— with those tools you can draw shapes within an existing frame. Is there a setting that I can use to fix this, or is this a new bug? (I would upoad a video, but as a new user to the community I’m not allowed to)

I copied a vector graphic in Adobe Illustrator then pasted it over to Figma, but for some reason sections of the vector appear rasterized… Is anyone else experiencing vector issues as well? (See top of graphic)

So I’ve been trying to find a solution to a card component that I designed with no luck. Its a custom shape as the background and whenever I try to apply auto layout it removes the current curves and turns it into a rectangle. Heres a link:Figma – 20 Aug 24 Anyone have a solution to this?

Hi team, I Darshan Hiranandani, need to update my payment information for our professional plan. Currently, a personal credit card is being used, and I would like to switch it to a company credit card. Specifically, I need to: Remove the personal credit card information from my account. Update the payment details with the new company credit card. Does anyone have suggestions or know the best way to make these changes? I’m trying to create a snackbar notification that appears when I add an item to my wishlist, and I also want a heart icon to fill in when this action occurs. However, I’m having trouble getting both the filled heart icon and the snackbar notification to show up simultaneously when I click the heart. How can I achieve this?

Hello everyone, I’m a newbie UI/UX designer and am currently learning the ropes. I’m facing some challenges related to the workflow process for designing responsive websites in Figma. Workflow Confusion: After completing the desktop design, should I move on to creating the mobile version and then prototype both? Or is it better to prototype the desktop version first and then work on the mobile design and prototype? Component Sets: When designing for responsiveness, how should I handle component sets? We can’t apply constrains to Components. Do I need to detach instances to adjust components for mobile? I’d really appreciate any advice or tips on how to tackle these issues efficiently. The glitchy pattern changes when I zoom in and out but it never renders correctly in the viewer.

Hi everybody! I’m a teacher at the university and I’m helping my students in signing up to Figma with Educational plan. What kind of document/file should they upload in this form? (“Class schedule” is generic, especially dealing with differences in universities across the world 😉 )

I found “save .fig” but that saves it locally. I do not know how to save a file to the cloud. I am ready to share it but it’s currently “untitled” and there’s no “save” in the menu. Command+S does not attempt to save or add file name. I assume it’s currently saved and autosaves, but I feel like sharing an untitled document looks bad. Also I’m fery annoyed there’s no UI for a basic save, even Google docs lets you know when something is being saved

I want to access one of my files (“Novus”), but I’m unable to because it says I need to request permission to access it. However, I am supposed to be the owner of the file. How can I regain access to it? I have a lot of work material there, and I can’t afford to lose it.

I use an overlay frame for popups , is there a way to show them once only , so if you go back to the screen they won’t jump agian- looking to create a condition on start show = 0 if show = 0 show popup after delay show popup and change show to show = 1 if show = 1 is that possible ? dont show

My smart animate is blank. I tried to export a frame, it is blank in every format I try. Someone else had this issue, but there is no info on how to fix it. It was solved through a support ticket.

Unable to access a secondary account to retrieve files. The email address used for the account has been deactivated, I do not have access to it, or able to forward from the address or reset password to it.
