I am using autolayout. As the screen size gets smaller, I want the image to be aligned to the top left corner and to be smaller in height and width. The problem I am having is that although the width and height are chained, the card is only smaller in width. I want it to be smaller in height as well. How can I do this?

I am working on a plugin that needs to convert element into CSS representation And I’m struggled with rotaions. For example, Rectangle 100x100px For unrotated state, I can just take absoluteBoundingBox values = 100x100px But when rotation appliea, thins get very complicated because rotation in Figma increase absoluteBoundingBox of the elemens Ant I’m getting 133x133px for 100x100px rectange rotated by 26 degrees.

If the node isn’t rotated, than its pretty simple to do: relative pos=child.absoluteBounds.pos-parent.absoluteBounds.pos size=child.absoluteBounds.size but if the node is rotated, than the absoluteBounds reflects the overall space it takes instead of the size of the node. My trigonometry isn’t the best, but I don’t think that’s enough information to calculate the width and height of the node. Is there anything we can do to derive this?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and your workflows for people having the same situation as me. In my company, we store components in two ways : DS libraries, they contain the common components across the app Team libraries, they contain components that are context specific (in a feature team) that we use multiple times We use Figma branches of our master files for each new feature. Sometimes, these new features requires to update components that are in team libraries (to allow the new usecases we’re covering). This branch remains separate from the master branch until the feature is live. However, to use updated components in your branch, you need to publish the library from the other files. By doing that, it will impact your master branch if someone update the library. How do you deal with this type of situation?

I went back to the old UI because I was trying to follow a tutorial but now I want to go back to the new UI3 layout to get familiar with it but I can’t seem to do it. I’m using an educational account.

Hello, Recently, I created a design system file with components and local styles and published the library. However, when I added this library to other documents in my team, I could not see any style on my styles panel. If I select an element, I can see in the style panel that it is using styles from the published library, but I can’t see any other style. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong?

Hi Figma Fam, I’m Ziyad. I’m working on a video automation project that’s in alpha right now. We’re making it easy for developers to make high quality videos for their files, plugins, widgets for things like posting on social media or listing on Product Hunt. We’re researching making platform specific templates (so something with Figma’s branding, frames etc) and wanted to see if that would be interesting to this group? My and my client faced an unexpected issue with one service that had been caused by the difference between how we see the link to the file From her side, the link to the frame starts like https://www.figma.com/design/cUcbBu… And from mine, like https://www.figma.com/file/cUcbBu… As you can see, there’s /design and /file. So I was curious why this difference is present; what could be a reason for that? I would be glad if someone could unweil the mystery, thank you 🙂

Hello. Is there any way to have a direct link on image in a Figma, but to the image with transparent background? Let me explain my process a bit so that you can understand better what is it that i need. 1 - In external program i have .mov background 2 - I create overlay in figma, export it as .png without fill and put it over background. As a result i get nice output with animated background and i can change whatever it is on that background by editing design in figma and exporting it. I would like to make it simpler, so my new process is 1 - In external program i have .mov background 2 - I put browser source over that background, link that i put in browser source is Prototype view link on the image with green fill, and then apply chrome key filter so as a result i get same thing as in old process, but without exporting images + all changes to the design are instant in the finished product in external program. Hello, I have searched but can’t find anything on this topic. I have a screen with multiple checkboxes (only 4 need to be functional) and a button that I want to be grey when none of the boxes are selected, but functional when at least one of the checkboxes is checked. My checkboxes are components, but my button is a button with a grey overlay. hopefully the image kinda shows what I’m trying to do. Any help will be much appreciated! This seems so simple but I can’t for the life of me figure it out. Thanks!

Hello, I accidentally clicked on “Start a mind map” in FigJam, so the text block is now behaving differently. My question: is there a way to get out of the mindmap mode in FigJam? (to get back to the text block as it was before clicking that button). Thanks. (It is a great feature but the button disappears. So my only option was to copy the mindmap-text, paste it on a notepad, copy it again, and paste it back on FigJam.)

I know this has been talked about a lot already and the rollout is what it is, but the inconsistent rollout of UI3 in our org has been causing problems and I wanted to provide feedback about why. This isn’t a topic about how UI3 could be improved or why those of us who don’t have it are lucky, so please leave that out of it if anyone replies. It’s a nightmare of a design project and I would think more designers would be sympathetic to that. I do a lot of Figma education programs for designers at our company and the sessions have become difficult because some people are on UI3 and others aren’t. That’s the bottom line really—the differences between old and new are significant enough that you can probably imagine why it’s causing problems. Additionally, many of the people in our org who have UI3 are in viewer seats, causing dumb situations where a designer will not have UI3 and their PM or engineers have it, which has also raised similar communication issues for us. Hello everyone. I recently started using Figma to create text based tshirt design graphics. I often have to download several hundred files at the same time. Every time it happens that out of (for example) 360 selected files only 189 are downloaded, although I have selected all 360 and clicked on “export 360 files”. Can anyone tell me what could be the reason for this? If it helps: I work with frames. Each file has a frame and I download the files as .png files.

Is there a way to select all shapes in a fixjam board and convert the text on these shapes into stickie notes, or vice versa? During a workshop session my participants accidentally started adding their thoughts to square shapes instead of boxes, and now I cannot use any stickie plugins or sorting without first copypasting each individual note… I was expecting something similar to the transistion between shapes and post-its in miro, where you can just select the stickie-shape as any other shape.

Hello, I have a problem when exporting my frames to pdf. Some lines are disapearing and others are becoming thicker. I have to play zoom in and out to make them appear. But it is all good when i export in PNG. Do you know where this problem comes from?

When I access a frame via GET image API I receive a download link like https://figma-alpha-api.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/images/c2a7b935-… . The Problem is that this URL is public and can be accessed by anyone who knows the url, which is not suitable for confidential files. Question: Is there any option to enable security / restricted file access ? I also tried to write a plugin however the Plugin api seems not to be suitebal for large amounts of Files as used within a CI / CD pipeline. Are there plans to enhance security in the future ? I’m seeking insights on how larger design teams manage Figma files in collaboration with development to keep everything in sync with production: Do you create page templates as part of your design system? Do you maintain a separate file (such as a sticker sheet) for page-level components? Or do you skip page templates and modify components directly in your working files, pushing updates to production once changes are finalised? Please, help a friend out and share your approach.

So, let’s see…if I have a Figma file with let’s say 5 instances of the same library component, but with different variants: Component Inst1–VarA *** Inst2–VarB *** Inst3–VarC *** Inst4–VarD *** Inst5 – VarF If i need to import via plugin each of these instances to a new file, how do I exctract/find out…the selected variant and work out its key to be used in expressions like: figma.importComponentByKeyAsync(key) I am getting a bit lost in the Json response here…the Json response shows node children in pages with type: "INSTANCE" and another field a bit below componentId: “XXXX:XXXX” however, in the code TS reports Property 'componentId' does not exist on type 'InstanceNode'

The Chinese display of Figma for Mac desktop has errors. For example, in Pages folder and Framer, only the section name is displayed correctly. The layer name is normal again, and the Pages folder name becomes normal when selected. pages folder selected status pages folder is not selected

Hello, Might be an easy one but I can’t figure it out. Seems like list numeration from 10+ is going out of frame. Link Item #10 (10. Name) you can see that some part of the 1 is out of the frame and I can’t understand why.

I’ve been trying to move a kanban object in one frame to another frame using the on drag prototype method. It looks like it just dissolves it because it’s moving into a new frame. Any suggestions on a work around for this? So far it seems like absolute positioning everything is my only way but that messes up other parts of my design.

The text is not split because we need to review the content of the copy through the api interface, so designers cannot be allowed to adjust the relevant copy too freely.
