Hello,I am currently developing a Figma plugin to extract local variables. However, I am facing difficulty in extracting the mode name (which I intend to use for segregating variables based on different modes, such as dark mode and light mode). Could you please advise if there is a method to retrieve the mode name?
Hello everyone,I’m new to the community and wanted to hear your thoughts on using variables. From my understanding, you can achieve the same result in two ways when working with variables. For example, I want to create both a Dark and Light Theme for my screen. I could create color variables and then decide that everything green will turn blue in the other theme, and vice versa.Alternatively, if I’m working with components, I could create two variations for each component, naming them Light and Dark Theme, and use a string variable to switch between the variants accordingly.Which approach do you think is more appropriate? What are the pros and cons of each? When might it be better to use one over the other?I’d appreciate any thoughts or questions, even if it’s to point out that my understanding is incorrect and it should be done in a third way :)….

Hi,Our team doesn’t really use libraries because our experience with them wasn’t great. Recently I’ve decided to give it another go after quite some time because we are at a state where we must split files in order to reduce the memory usage of the file.Unfortunately, 10 minutes later I ran into an issue that is driving me crazy for the past 10 hours. What I did:- Created a new file called “Design System:- Created a new component called “Button” with two variants “Default” and “Hover”- Published the changes to the Library and published the Library- Created a new file called “Screens”- Added the newly created Library to the “Screens” file and added the “Button” componentWhat the issue is:- The “Button” component default state is “Default”. When changing it to “Hover”, literally nothing happens. I can’t figure out for the sake of me what’s happening.Any ideas? Thanks
Hello,I worked on a website design and now someone outside my team needs access to edit the file in dev-mode. as I understand I have to pay for that sit and thats ok, but how I make sure that I'm only giving him access to that specific file and not to my whole design library? is quite confusing this whole thing about seats an teams please help!
I really need to be able to sort, and ideally also group, the lists of Text Styles and Color Styles that I created. I don’t see a way to do that in the Design panel on the right sidebar. Help us stay organized and please add this soon.
I am new to figma and on Free plan. I have create 3 design files.I am not supposed to create a token (done that) and provide a file key.To get this file key I am supposed to open the design and get it from the browser address. It should look something like : https://www.figma.com/file/<FILE_KEY>/<File-Name>But I am not able to find this, my browser link does not include /file but similar to :https://www.figma.com/design/eBye85oBgN2BV/FastHub---Dashboard?node-id=1-109&t=2BcjVv77a- Question: Is it possible for me to find the file key using free plan and if so, how can i find it?
I'm Brazilian and I'm going to Figma Config 2024.However, it will be a membership sponsored by the company I work for. Can you tell me if, at the end of the process, I get an invoice for the purchase to prove it and request a refund from the company?
I’m looking to create a fake broken screen design using Figma for a project, and I’d love some guidance or tips on how to achieve a realistic broken screen effect. I’ve tried a few approaches, like adding cracks and lines, but I’m not sure how to make it look convincing or dynamic enough. Here’s what I’m aiming for:A screen with cracks and shattered pieces Some realistic distortion effects A design that can be used as a mockup for a broken phone screenDoes anyone have any suggestions or techniques on how to create this kind of effect in Figma? Here is an example: Broken Screen
Hey all! I’d like to know how to do the automation sequence through Python: 1 - take an specified image from Google Drive 2 - insert it into a Component Image inside a specific Page in Figma. 3 - go to another Page named “Mockups” 4 - download all files as JPG MAX RESOLUTION and put them into a specified Google Drive Folder. I have kinda 4000 images to do so, and need to work in Cloud. And no, Photoshop is not an option for me. Anybody has any idea? Note: I’ve already tried, in company of ChatGPT-o, to do such. But the API Token generated only gives me Watch permissions, and I need WRITE permissions. Thanks!
This is a question for plugin developers… Is there a min/max width and height for the dimensions of a plugin window? For example is it possible to make the plugin window very narrow (like 40 pixels for example), and make its height fill the height of the Figma application viewport? Also, is it possible to “dock” the plugin window to either side (right, left, top, or bottom) of the Figma UI, so that it’s basically attached to one of these sides.
I see a lot of design systems and starter kits create a primitive set of untis used for sizing and spacing but I struggle to see what the benefit is in creating the variables from the primitives rather than creating the variable values direct. Could someone shed some light on this in the event I am missing something. Thanks for reading.Mark
Hello,I created a fixed header. If I scroll through my prototype, buttons with “over hovering” are also displayed in the header bar, which is not supposed to be the case. How can I solve this? You can see the problem in the pictures, in picture 2 the mouse cursor was removed because it is an SC.I would be happy about help. Thanks in advance.
I’ve created a custom plugin to export my Figma variables.I have an opacity variable that is set to 0.8 However, when I export it, it gets exported with a value of 0.800000011920929 const variable = await figma.variables.getVariableByIdAsync(variableId);const { name, valuesByMode } = variable;console.log({name});console.log({valuesByMode}); When I use “nicer” numbers, like 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 or 1, the rounding error does not happen, but it does with pretty much any other numbers.
Hello, I am trying to create an educational plan with my school email. However, when I try to create an email for it, it doesn’t allow me to create a password for it. Not sure what to do. Thanks
I’ve recently added a text layer. The font section is missing in the right pane when the text layer is selected. I only see a typography section. How can I change the font?
Summarize only works on stickies, ugh. Is there a way to convert shapes to stickies?

Hello there, I’ve noticed that the Figma app on my Mac is highlighting correct spellings. I have already set the language to English in my profile. Could anyone please let me know if there are any solutions to this issue?
I’m making a paid Figma plugin, but I am unable to publish the plugin - I’ve received the below notification:May I know how long the seller status check will take? And how will we be notified that it is completed?
Hey, I’m a beginner and there is a doubt regarding how I can use two solid colors in one frame. For eg in the below given picture I want to make that green and white color background together.
So I’m new to figma, and I’ve been trying to search for a way to do this but haven’t found, and I don’t know if it’s possible.Basically this is within a frame, my homepage frame and I wanted to make the menu change the subject as you click in another theme. So you start in “starters” but when you click on “ramen” it changes to the ramen menu, but all this in the same page. Would this be possible to make? Every video I’ve seen has been showing me how to do it, but it's on different pages.
Please how can i turn a screen to a A4 and PDF in Figma
Hello. I am making a app and found a problem I don’t know have to fix. Let say I scroll down on page 1 and navigate the other pages (by clicking navigation at the bottom), I start at the bottom of that page. So where I am at Page 1 is where I will start on the next page. Anyone who knows the fix for this?
Case Study Block: I’ve completed Google’s UX courses and some projects on UXcell, but the case studies I’ve built feel very basic and messy. I want to create a proper, polished portfolio but feel stuck, especially when it comes to mastering Figma—things like typography, color coordination, layout, and ensuring everything looks cohesive. This perfectionism is holding me back. Do you have any advice on overcoming this block or ideas for starting fresh? Figma for UX Researchers: How essential is knowing Figma in detail for a UX researcher? Do you think it's necessary to dive deep into its advanced functionalities, or is a more surface-level familiarity enough for day-to-day work? Skills Focus: My academic background is in philosophy (BA) and dramatic literature (MA), so I don’t have a formal foundation in design or graphics. Do you think I should spend more time learning tools like Figma, Miro, Adobe, and AI plugins, or should I focus more on theoretical knowledge like UX psychology, gami
