I prefer to use a limited design where I can see fonts, colors, size and so on. It seems that I have changed my settings and now “Prottype” TAB is installed…. I woud like to go back to previous settings - to “Properties type”. 

In my design system, I wanna provide a couple of components that act as containers, e.g., Popover. So, the Figma-user / design system consumer can put inside whatever it needs (img, text…). I don’t want to be too specific & restrictive here. Currently, the components in Figma act more as closed constructs: All the options we want to provide have to be designed in advance as variants, variables, etc. This is cool for consistency, but it is super rigid for a custom content that can’t be foreseen. The only way I could provide some flexibility is by suggesting the Figma designer to detach the component instance and then put the custom content inside. Any thoughts, workarounds, plugins, coming Figma features?

Hi everyone,I would like to update my portfolio and that's where Figma Slides comes into play. My thoughts are to rebuild my new portfolio in the tool. Previously I have always used Indesign, but I find it too static. Slides offers me a larger playing field and I think the animation function is great. Now my question is, if I create a presentation in Slides with small animations, will these also be included in the export as a PDF and if not, will the default state be displayed in the PDF or how does it behave?In Indesign I can export an interactive PDF. There I can then integrate smaller animations such as hover on the button etc.. How is it with Figma Slides, because when I export I cannot choose between PDF and interactive PDF.Looking forward to your feedback.

hello, it would be very much appreciated if it was possible to apply numeric variables to the x & y position of absolute positioned elements within components. Here is the case i am working on: While everything is completely tokenized and adjusts to different screen densities, i cannot apply the positioning tokens to the design defining the absolute positioning of the dropdown -list flyout. As you can see the distance needs to be adjusted as well. This would be solved if a dynamic token was applied. This flyout needs to be absolute positioned, so it can be above other elements in forms. Please make it possible to apply variables to the position of absolute positioned elements! 🙂

I’m trying to copy/reuse some components that have Dev Mode annotations, but I want to reuse them to create another type of component, so the current annotations don’t really match the new component and I would just like to remove all annotations all together, but couldn’t find how to do it yet. Is it even possible? If so, how can I do that? 🥸

Oh boy this could have caused a lot of headaches if I didn’t catch this… I do not have “Simple Design System” from Figma added to this file as a library, as indicated by the not-selected “Add to file” button: (the only reason I see it in the library list at all is cause I took the screenshot after dragging in the wrong component) I did a search for the “textarea” component that we have in our own custom design system that IS added as a library, and this is what I saw: No red flags yet, doesn’t say which library this belongs to, naturally I assumed this was our textarea component I dragged it in and now it tells me where it came from (very easy to miss though) I appreciate whatever Figma’s trying to do to help here but I need to neeeeever ever ever see this design system. I don’t know why it came up when I searched in the Assets panel. Removing that one instance of the component removes any mention of Simple Design System, but if I search for components again it will still bring up t

I had this problem and saw another post in which people didn’t had their answer;I tried everything i could, in my modest experience with Figma, but i kept getting the exports with a thin white line, sometimes top, bottom or sides. I tried to increase the canvas with couple px, exporting multiple sizes (x1, x1.5., x2, etc) - had same results, nothing worked.In the end, i managed to find the bug and the fix. My solution is pretty simple:Create a new frame with the desired size (exactly what you need, not +/- px). Then, you can copy-paste the graphics from the frame that has the export error to the newly created frame, just don’t copy-paste the whole frame. I noticed if you copy-paste / duplicate the frames is when the exported error happens, be it with one line top, bottom, two lines on the sides, etc. Double check in the preview area, and export.I started having this problem when i was duplicating frames in order to change few items, such as titles and subtitles, and nothing else helped

I enrolled for the education plan and its says i have all the perks under the professional plan but i can’t access the dev mode, and its prompting me to upgrade my plan any idea why is it though

Hey community, I hope you can help! I found a very strange behavior of a basic design tool: Strokes. If I want to wrap an element that is filled with color (I tried rectangles, frames or autolayouts) in an autolayout and I want the outside autolayout to have an insight stroke. But somehow the insight stroke is not visible. It is like the inner element overlaps the colors and strokes of the outer autolayout. Why is it suddenly like that? In the past the described path worked just fine and I do have files with such elements. But I cannot recreate them. Where there any changes made with reference to this in the last releases? I hope anyone knows an answer or maybe even has a solution? Greetings! ✌️

It would be possible to have more regular updates on Figma Enterprise PKG and MSI files? Users mention that the application installed by the management console is old, date from December 2024 (124.6.5) and the website has newer versions but this prevents us from installing one by one, as we do not have recent PKG in the admin console like new ones (125.1.5). Why is the enterprise version not available like the version on the Figma website which is much more recent? Thanks

Hi everyone  I am creating a hero section & would like to change the bottom of it to have a wavy curved effect.I know this can be done as as a shape and then edit the bottom of it by editing the points then adding a frame round the hero section is this the correct way or can i edit the bottom of a frame section to create the desired curves.would creating different shapes to a section need to be created as shape elements and then nested in a frame. thanks  Ang 

Hey everyone, I’m facing a weird issue with a Component in Figma, and I’d really appreciate some help!I created a dropdown menu inside a Main Component with two states:Closed state – The menu is hidden. Open state – The menu expands, showing the options.The issue:When I use an Instance of this component in my design, the dropdown opens fine, but I can't click on any of the options inside it! The options don’t have any interactions inside the Main Component, they’re just arranged properly. The only way to make the buttons work is to detach the Instance, but that defeats the purpose of using a Component. I checked the layer order to make sure nothing is blocking the options, but the issue persists.Is there something in Figma Components that prevents interaction with inner elements in an Open state? Or is there a way to make the options clickable without detaching the Instance?Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! 😊Here’s a short video showing the iss

Good afternoon, I’ve been working on this UI kit I downloaded for a few hours, and I just relised then that along the way something has occured that has caused these strange stripes running vertically down each frame. The colour itself does look to be one of my colour varients, however I have no idea how this has occured. Can anyone assist in helping me get rid if this?

HiI’m looking for a plugin to convert CSS colour variables to Figma colour tokens.For example, I could feed the plugin these two CSS colour variables  --card-okay-icon: #4ade80;                    --card-okay-icon-bg: rgba(74, 222, 128, 0.2);  and plugin would produce screengrab below.I can find lots of plugins doing it the other way round but not finding any that match this direction (CSS → Figma Variable)  

For some Time I have been researching a way in Figma for a swipe or probably rather drag gestures that moves diagonally vs. Just horizontally or vertically. Think fruit Ninja Game, basically you can slice a fruit from any angle. The Idea is to have an object in the center surrounded by multiple buckets, and I want to drag that object into its respective bucket. Then I could transition to next screen indicating that the object has been added to the bucket. To be more clear some of the buckets will be off-set obviously and not on the horizontal or vertical axis hence “diagonal”, see image attached. So ideally, I tap the red item and drag it into the bucket. That action should also be reversible, to empty the bucket. And it should work in one smooth way, so the moment I tap it I am able to drag it.

Is this possible?

When I create new variant properties, or new text styles, the newest addition will land at the bottom of the dropdown list in the right hand pane. Is there a way to reorganise these?

Im trying to create a search bar in Figma. I have the bar set up, but the search blinker I created isn't behaving as expected. I want it to move behind the typed text, but instead, it keeps reverting to its original position, which is between the search icon and the word search or to the end of search bar entirely

Hi People, new to Figma so apologies in advance for the long winded question. I have a Figma profile that is linked to my email address and have been using for a while. Recently posted a question in the community and noticed my handle was a randomly generated name so i changed this (to what it is now). The email address was the same as my Figma Profile, where all my files are. I accessed the Figma community page via googling Figma Community. i DID NOT ACCESS via WHERE MY FIGMA FILES ARE. A few weeks later I went to ask another question in the community but this time I accessed it via the page where all my files/projects are. I clicked on the community Profile via the dropdown menu on my name in top left corner. I noticed that my community handle was another random generated handle. Went to change it to what I had already changed it to a few weeks prior, but it said that name is already taken. I changed it to something else in the end. Now i have x2 different community handles both on t

Hi. Subject. Working with default UI is a pain. It sometimes doesn’t even rename the variables. Bug, maybe. But overall UX is sad :(  Is there an alternative UI out there? Like, I dont need EXTRA features. I want figma variables functionality only. Just with a better UI.

Hello, my company has a design system that we have set up using color and text styles. We are now planning to launch another product within the company that will have completely different branding. We will be sharing some more simple components between the two products but then will also have product specific components. I would love any advice that you have on the best way to build this second product design system.I am thinking that I will have to re-do our current design system to utilize variables for color and text instead of styles so that way I can create different variables for different branding. (If all of my components are now using styles will this mean that I have to go in and manually update every component to use the variables instead? Or are there any shortcuts to batch this process? We currently have about 800 components so would be a very large lift to do one by one.) And then was going to create an additional component library that would hold components that are excl

  I received a notification email stating that my Figma Education Plan is about to expire. Currently, I am attending a bootcamp to prepare for employment, so I would like to extend my education plan.
