Initially, I could switch pages in my design draft with ease. About 4 months ago, I discovered it’s no longer so. Each page now has to load a while before I can access it and it’s annoying. Please bring back the ease with which users can switch between pages.

Also in UI3, I find it annoying that assets take forever to load just so I can use a component I created. I should be able to access my file’s components easily without having to load the entire universe of assets. This delay is frustrating. Please do something about it.

Sounds like your file is too big. Export your fig file and let me know what the file size is please.

Facing the same issue here. The whole tab freezes when switching pages

Hi everyone! This looks like a performance issue in your file. If you are still running into issue, I’d recommend you to reach out directly to the support team so they can take a look at it: here

Be sure to use your Figma email account, include a quick video recording showing this problem, share your console log and include a link to a file you are having issue and add support-share@figma.com as an Editor to this file (this won’t affect your billing at all). Thank you!

I had a similar issue. I had some pretty complex svg files I imported and was using in a component all over a page. Once I flattened the svg it sped things up quite a bit. Still a bit laggy but probably the complexity of the page more than anything.

Finally I see other people having this issue as well, I thought I was going crazy. Because nothing is able to fix this problem till this point.

The switching between pages takes sooo insanely long. And this shouldn’t be a ‘file to big’ issue or anything with complexity within the file structure.

Because months ago this issue was non existent. And gradually got worse and worse. Even if the file didn’t even change that much.

And what makes it even more frustrating. Sometimes it keeps loading a nearly empty page for way too long. (Nearly empty as in consisting 2 Frames & 4 Rectangles)

What confirms my suspicion of not being related to the file is that after uninstalling Figma from my MacBook. using the recommended app to clean all files related to Figma so you’re sure nothing buggy gets left behind… then installing app again the issue is gone and all pages that used to load for ages fill load in 1 second.

Sadly this didn’t last long because after a day or two it kept gradually coming back and getting worse and worse each time 😦

Figma Support is also not really helpful (just sending automated responses to my requests)

It’s not a file size issue. There could be basically nothing on the page and it’ll still take time to switch.

Exactly. There’ll be basically nothing on the page and it’ll take forever to switch. It wasn’t like this before. Figma needs to do something about it because it’s annoying.

I think I found a sort of workaround to deal with this situation.

(at least in my case… and I’m nor sure for how long this will hold)

Changing the settings for my (external) monitor made loading time better. 🙄

Maybe it will help you as well. if you’ve the same hardware setup.

My setup & Hardware

  • MacBook Pro 15" 2019

  • 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

  • 2,6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7

  • LG Ultra HD 4k (external) monitor 27"

Changing you screen resolution to a lower value:

  1. Go to your monitor settings and change it to the default value.

in my case (1920 x 1080). Downside is that your whole system would have a very large UI.

  2. Instead toggle the show all resolutions and choose the resolution you’re already using, for me: (2560 x 1440) and choose the option “lower resolution” immediately underneath the item.

Hopefully this will help you till Figma fixes this problem the normal way 🙂
