All shortcuts using the number-row characters (/, +…) do NOT work on non-QWERTY keyboards even in Figma. If it’s a bug it’s present in both products for ALL such shortcuts.

No access to this feature with a French Keyboard (where it is shift+:/), it’s only makes the arrow cursor diseapear and then nothing happens. Have to use E to to the Corso Chat.

I can’t use the command to use the chat, but I can using the other methods:

clicking E and then selecting the chat or manually with the cursor.

Same here ✋ . Non US keyboards makes shortcuts based on “/” impossible to type, as the “/” is used under shift+7 combination.

So something easy to trigger as the chat feature is incredibly hard to use (only option is to rely on the top-right ✨ actions menu)

Figma ever has had issues with ISO keyboard layouts. Quick Actions is still not working and I reported it a year ago.

I have a German Keyboard. “Quick actions” is triggered via the “/” key. But on ISO Keyboard Layouts (Pretty much 90% of the world out side of the US) you have “Shift + 7” to create a “/” symbol. But this doesn’t do anything.

Bottom line: The quick actions and the cursor chat function is literally not accessible in any way for anyone outside the ANSI region.

Yes. Set your keyboard layout to Germany for example (many ISO Layout should reproduce this) and try to use “quick actions” or “cursor chat”. It’s not possible.

Thank you! Looking forward for this to get resolved 🙂 Switching to US Layouts is not really feasible. It would mean I have to constantly switch back and forth if I want to use Umlauts or write any special characters.

The issues is also in Figma not just FigJam. You should escalate.

And as a workaround switching between applications I should switch keyboards again? I guess not.

Guys you really need to figure out this individual shortcut thing because graphical users will individualize their shortcuts first thing they begin to use a new design tool and save this set. Period.

Thrilled with Figma over all, but THAT is a big no go for me.

You guys really need to sort this thing out. It’s not possible that a company like yours with a product like yours has a problem of this kind. It’s just unbelievable.

This is still not fixed…The workaround is removing the “&hide-ui=1” parameter from the URL and reload the page.

At least give us a command in the menu so we can use third party app to access it

I have the same type of issue on my French Mac Keyboard (with numpad) and both, the “/” Key from the “default side” and the “/” key from the “num pad side”, don’t work on Figma nor on Figjam.

Runing on Big Sur 11.5.2

Figma Desktop App version 101.6

I tried to remap the keyboard on my mac in Karabiner and goku to make this work but without luck. When i type “/” by pressing Shift + 7 on my danish keyboard the keyboard actually sends out three keypress events “shift_up” “7” shift_down". The key that types “-” actually sends out the “slash” keyboard event. But since it types “-” it will zoom out in FigJam. Heard a lot of great things about curser chat. Looking forward to some day trying it out without having to change between danish and american keyboard layout.

Guys, I FOUND A WORKAROUND !

I am using a mac with a french keyboard layout and was also frustrated. After many attempts, here is what got it working for me :

• I Installed “Ukelele SIL”


• I created a custom keyboard layout by selecting File > New from current input source


• I remapped the “Tilde - grave accent” or “Backtick” key to an new output “/”


• I saved the keyboard layout bundle and double clicked it to install the layout on my computer


• In System preferences > Keyboard > Input sources, I added the modified layout


• I selected it as the preferred input source, and now it works

Also, now you can simply use cmd+p for quick actions,

but not for cursor chat or other shortcuts

I am happy that it works now, but it would be so much better if we could simply create our own shortcuts in the system preferences…

I Hope Figma fixes that soon

I’m sticking with my alternative that largely replaces the keyboard layout, the automator plugin and a lot of other stuff… namely Keyboard Maestro 🙂
