Perceptual color picker

The Figma color picker allows choosing colors with RGB, HSL or HSB. Unfortunately, none of these schemes is suitable for developing a color scheme—to maintain hue and perceived lightness, it’s necessary to use a calculator that shows values in a perceptually uniform way, like HSLuv or (preferably) Oklab. Support here would do a lot to help people pick colors.

Would these plugins help?

Figma

These are better than nothing, but the plugins are awkward to use, and they are stuck with the 50+ year old CIELUV space, rather than OKLab, which causes some issues around interpolating dark blues. I’d give 50% there.

Hi, author of HCL Color here. I just added OKLab as the default color space.

Also, please let me know how I can make the plugin less awkward to use. 🤷
