With the main component selected I can create all of the properties that I will want instances to have through the Properties Panel as one would expect.
Inside of the component when I have a selection of variants that I want to assign a State such as hover, the option to make that selection ceases to exist in the Properties Panel. I can select Boolean properties that I set up on the main component but Variant Properties not so much.
